Escape - 5 O'clock Somewhere bar renamed to ? Pour House on Waterfront?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just seeing if I am correct in saying that this bar changed names to Pour House on the Waterfront? And is the outside bar/inside seating area open most of the day? Or is it just setup for late night bands?

Thank you in advance for confirmation and/or correction

Yes. Jimmy Buffett's contract ended and all of his branded restaurants and bars were renamed a while back.

The outside bar is open a lot of the time.

The inside bar is only open for shows. During the day, the facility is used for various activities including lectures (gotta buy those diamond ear rings), demonstrations, painting, etc.

More precisely, sadly Jimmy Bufffett ended last year.

That 5 O’clock place (the inside) is directly below the expensive deck 8 Club Balcony cabins with very large balconies … so noise was a real factor that the M9 occupants complained bitterly …. so whatever venues going on in that place had to be during the day and finish early.

I think they managed to *really* soundproof the floor between the Pour House on deck 7 and the M9 cabins on deck 8 during Escape’s first dry dock when the 5 O’Clock was converted to the Pour House.

Escape was the first BA+ ship and the designers had no idea.

Even more precisely, it was a conflict of interest for NCL and Buffet. Buffet's group operates their own cruise brand.

I think you’re getting confused between venues/cabins.

Syd Norman’s and the Club Suites with large balconies are both on deck 8, so one can’t be above the other. The Large Balcony Club Suites are above the theatre backstage area.

Directly above Syd Norman’s/Cavern etc are some standard balcony rooms, as is the case on the Breakaway and Getaway (and most, if not all of the Breakaway plus class), so this wasn’t a first time on the Escape.

I wonder whether you are thinking of the District Brew House, which was a new venue on the Escape and I have some vague memories of noise issues being reported from there in the past.

It's been awhile since we have been on Escape.  Does the Pour House have Syd Norman type shows?  We have always loved the very talented groups in Syds.

Sure does!  I was on the Escape last year - they had the rock variety show, the "prom night" show and (best of all) Rumours!

Last year, we sailed on the Escape with Syd Norman's shows. The show schedule was a bit off because the casino used Syd's one night for a private party. We always like Rumors and the cast did an excellent job!

Day 1 Sail away with Syd's 9:00 pm

Day 2 Rock the Pour House 9:00 pm

Day 4 Syd Norman's Tribute to Rumors 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm

Day 6 Rock the Pour House 9:00 pm

Day 7 Syd Norman's Rock the Prom 9:00 pm

Thanks @KeithJenner to pointing out that I wasn't entirely correct with what I posted. I was posting what was coming out of my memory but now I've seen the deckplans for Escape I would like to correct what I said.

That 5 O'clock place (now Syd Norman Pour house) on deck 8 is directly below the expensive deck 9 Club Balcony cabins ... so noise was a real factor that the M* occupants complained bitterly ... so whatever venues going on in that place had to be during the day and finish early. This occurred during the Escape's maiden TA voyage back in 2015 that we went on.
