Help with where to stay in Miami-walkable area with restaurants

We will be flying into Ft Lauderdale on the Saturday before our cruise which will leave out of the Port of Miami on Sunday.  We get in around 10:00 AM and  will Uber to Miami.  We would like to stay somewhere that has walkable restaurants or easy access to get places.  We will not have a car.  I am not familiar with the many areas Miami so not sure where we should look.  A beach day might be an option for us but not sure what would be close to the Port. Should we look in Brickell, South Beach, Downtown?  We like casual restaurants but not fast food and a mid range hotel would be great. Any advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Google maps can help  you.

Use the search to center the app on the area/hotel you're interested in.

First, select a hotel youre interested in.

When it's displayed on the map, go to the top of the page select restaurants.

You'll then get a map of the local restaurants.

You can then select directions and it will tell you the travel time and distance between hotels and restaurants.

Be sure and select walking.

I recommend Brickell area for mid range hotel and walkable rest' (Miami mid range $ !!!! may seem $$ to you)

Miami doesn't really have 'beach' .... Miami Beach is a sep' city. Near by, but a different place.

Or ..... discover UBER.

Brickell would be a great area with lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Brickell city Centre has a movie theater and a miniature golf course called PuttShack if it's raining plus plenty of shopping and restaurants.

The Hampton inn Brickell is a fantastic hotel if you are looking.  Though I no longer live on Brickell, I am back there at times and just stayed there last week.

Miami offers TWO free transportation systems that can help you do some exploring

check out the free trolley system - actually tourist busses but an extensive network

https://www.miami.gov/Transportation-Roadways/Trolley-Information/Get-Trolley-Information-Schedules-and-Maps

and METROMOVER which is primarily downtown but includes Brickell

https://www.miamidade.gov/global/transportation/metromover.page

both of these systems have a free app that helps you see when the next service will arrive etc

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Brickell and enjoyed it very much.  In the financial district so was very safe and clean.  And you are within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

The morning of the cruise we paid and small fee and took their shuttle to the port..

We are staying for the second time at the Intercontinental. It is a short walk to the Bayside market place with quite a few restaurants, including some of the larger chains like Bubba Gumps and Margaritaville.

The metro mover station is also right out the door if you want to go into Brickell. You can't beat the proximity to the port.
