Does CC Status Expire

My Gold status with an airline is about to expire as I don’t use the airline as much as I used to which, I suppose, is fair.

Does Captain's Club need at least one or two cruises per year to remain current or do I keep my status forever?

The only cruise line I am aware of that has conditions surrounding its' loyalty club status is MSC who, at least at one time, required a cruise every two years in order to maintain matched status from other cruise lines with first time MSC cruisers.

And @swjumbo I disagree strongly with the airlines who limit the length of time status and points can be valid.  I've earned those points over time by committing travel to their airline which supported their economic viability.  It is wrong IMO to allow the value of my loyalty to expire at any time.

Fortunately you do not have to worry about that with CC.

As an FYI, you lose status on MSC if you don’t sail with them within 3 years of your last day onboard (they extended this out during Covid). This applies to everyone - not just those who status-matched.

Thanks for that update - I wasn't sure of the extend of the conditions and was incorrect on the timeframe.

Not a good program IMO. Loyalty should be based on providing a good product that people should want to voluntarily experience again  - not one with conditions of losing what you have gained by way of a timeline to continue to prove your loyalty.

Totally agree.   I have more than 5 times the number of points needed to reach their highest tier - Diamond (not status-matched) - and they could be wiped out without a thought from the company for all the years it took me to accumulate them.

I also read that MSc status will go away after two years and was surprised that my status was still diamond after 5 years, I am sure Covid had something to do with that we did have one cruise cancelled because of that . Ncl switched their status about 20 or so years ago and my dozen cruises were no longer counted, since I have absolutely no desire to cruise them again it doesn’t matter. Hal recognize my sailing from the 1970’s.

I am not aware of anything changing as well but was curious what the poster was implying.  Seemed like a specific reference.

I said "probably inevitable" so was speculating; I believe it will eventually mirror MSCs loyalty program, don't cruise for a 2 or 3 years, lose status.  Right now the casino status resets annually although the status has been extended due to COVID

I'm not sure why they would mirror another lines policies regarding their loyalty program - especially when it would result in negative backlash.  IMO RCCL / Celebrity have two of the stronger programs in the industry, which are also linked with each other regarding reciprocity of higher tier level benefits.  This also, IMO favorably sets them apart in the industry.  And as they are sister companies under the RCI corporation the impact of one doing something such as mirroring another's negative policy would affect the other, which I think would give pause to such a decision.

So I hope - and believe - that your probably inevitable speculation will not come to fruition.

And the casino status is a separate program tied tied to a third party via a marketing agreement.  IMO that would not be an apples to apples comparison.

Currently your Captain's Club status expires when you do.

I think MSc policy may match rccl and celebrity eventually, as I said even though it’s over 5 years since MSc cruise and I have lost nothing. Looking forward to next MSc cruise in December.

X doesn't care about backlash, they had no problem with cutbacks until "cookiegate".  They bought back some but not all of their cutbacks.  We can't deny X has somewhat been "royalized".  There is no longer an X CEO at the moment, the CEO title was stripped once LLP left, as Laura is only the President of X.  The parent company RCG is run by a former CFO who says during earning calls they're surprised by how they can increase pricing and there isn't a decrease in bookings.  Royal Caribbean cruise line had a poll asking if would you pay for pizza.  Two very bold statements.  This is why it wouldn't surprise me if they mirrored MSC for only NEW cruisers, existing CC members are grandfathered

Whatever.  I don't think they will modify the CC for new customers, etc. Don't think it would be a good business strategy.  Difference of opinion.

Rather than a simplistic "whatever", why not expand on why they are still performing cutbacks which surely would not be a good business strategy?

I'm just going to agree to disagree as I don't care to debate the issue, in part because IMO it is complete speculative.  It is what it is - you see it one way and I see it another.  Simplistic enough?
