Allocation of gratuity daily

Again none of them wants to lose what to them is a very lucrative job for failing to turn in cash tip after being notified that one of there cabins removed tips.

Again my opinion, but Royal should just make them mandatory or better yet add to cruise fare as a mandatory service fee.  California has already started the move in that direction.

The new California law would have nothing to do with the daily gratuity charge as it is a 100% voluntary fee.

On our last cruise at the end of the week we realized we had not eaten anywhere but specialty dining so we went to Guest Services and asked for our prepaid gratuities be credited back to us so we could redirect them where we wanted them applied. They provided us a form to fill out and specify how much and to whom we wanted gratuities paid. We still followed the suggested tip amount (based on their suggested gratuity guidelines below) for our room steward and hotel services but we adjusted dining services since we had the unlimited dining package and had also paid gratuities on that. We always tip extra to those who serve us direct and wanted the flexibility to do so even more. Not sure if it is always that simple but for what it is worth Guest services was very accommodating and the process was pretty easy.

If this is correct 44% of your gratuity goes to Hotel Service's. Only 20% going to Stateroom Attendant. I understand Hotel services includes things like laundry, but I wonder how much goes toward the white collar staff at RCCL. I am one who leaves my auto gratuities although I rarely go to the MDR.

Reeling this back in.. I'm just going to continue as we've always done, leaving the auto tips alone, and tipping as we go for each diamond drink, casino drink, etc.

California isn't the model you want to follow...

Agree, not on most things

But

All in cost as advertised is one I support.  I also firmly belive that any fee that is automatically added should just be mandatory and also included.

Cruisegus….you are absolutely correct! I have asked our stateroom guy that question before. He said they are given a list of passengers that get their gratuities back. Also, yes Speciality restaurants add an 18% gratuity when you purchase a dinner. What you need to know is that the 18% is divided up between every worker that works in that Speciality restaurant. I have asked this question to confirm on two different cruise ships. The extra you tip for your good service… that server gets to keep all to himself.

Why?

And why would RCL compose that list and go through the effort?

And do you believe they attendant would always tell you the truth?

Reeling this back

Now that is funny.  Like the million previous threads on this topic....there is no 'reeling back'. Only option is to divert it with 'chair hog' or 'bathrobe while dining in the trough' discussions.

So you claim that RCL will waste recourses to compile a list of information that has no value what so ever for anybody?

Really?

Why would they?

Isn't it WAY more likely it is all made up - to push an agenda?

I don’t believe this for one minute that Royal would waste the time and resources to print such info and give it to cabin attendants. What good would this do? Piss off the cabin attendant that the passenger canceled the tips? Would they still give the same amount of service to that passenger? They might not and then they could be given low scores in the survey. You do know Royal wants all 10s on the surveys so they can claim they are the best in the industry. Some people are so gullible that scare tactics work and the crew knows it.

Why would Royal waste their time and resources to do this? It serves no purpose. They don’t care or have the time to print this and give to the cabin attendants. At the end of the cruise they are all in high gear to get the passengers off and ready for the next group. It simply doesn’t happen.

Totally correct!

I have no clue why people just keep stating those lies!

You'll belive what you want, but just like in a hotel, where the maid gets a list of their rooms to clean, special requests, hotel loyalty status.

Your cabin steward also has a similar list, just drop by his cart as he is cleaning a cabin, it has your name, loyalty status other info.. try not to get caught they don't like you pursuing it because of the sensitive info on it like names and if you prepaid your tips.

But again belive what you want.

Computer generated, not hard to produce.  Just like every comment where you name and complement your cabin steward are either read at team meeting or at minimum posted on the department bulletin board

But belive what you want.

But that has nothing to do with your grats! Angain why are you pushing this - when it has nothing to do with removing autograts?

Not true again!

They would have to match you to your cabin attendant and then disribute it - Why would they go through that effort and what would be the purpose for RCL to do it?

Why are you pushing these lies?

Actually it is in the interst of RCL to NOT notify the attendant as to not have any potential further beef with the cutomer!

I don’t believe for a moment the Stateroom attendant is informed about my gratuity status; it really doesn’t matter because I inform them on day 1.

When they know they are working for extra $$ in their pocket and not a small cut from a large pool, they appreciate it. I have had many attendants tell me they MUCH prefer the old way of cash gratuity.
