Ahoy sailors! It’s time for another whirlwind live this time with all the Spanish and French flair. I’d love for you to join me as we sail the French Daze & Ibiza nights itinerary on the beautiful Scarlet Lady.

It’s been 66 days since we sailed the Allure of the Seas with the kids, and I’m past ready to leave them at home. This will be my 2nd time on Scarlet Lady and fifth sailing with Virgin Voyages. I can’t wait for Pink Agave, Loteria & all the other shenanigans we get into on Virgin. So pack your bags, start your liver, and cross your fingers our flights go as scheduled. This time Friday, we will be in Barcelona! Let’s go cruising! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We booked this cruise, it feels like forever ago, back in Nov. 2023, I think. VV was ending the big bar tab promotion, so I wanted to get something booked before that. I had all ready used my MNVVs (My Next Virgin Voyage) vouchers so this is what we will have on board. I think we will survive with the Deep Blue Extras.
Fun fact, I’ve been on 25 cruises, and I’ve never sailed on my birthday. This year, that changes with a wonderful day in Mallorca and an EPIC Scarlet night celebration.

Barcelona (pre-cruise):

Last year, we sailed the Resilient Lady on the Greek Island Glow itinerary. We planned to get there two days early, but when we checked in for our flight… it was cancelled. This time, 2 days before sailing is still the name of the game, and I’m definitely having flashbacks of the scramble to rebook flights from last year. This year, I decided we definitely wanted to go nonstop to avoid any other issues that can pop up ie lost bags or delays. So we are headed out on Thursday evening from DFW. As for accommodations, I started off looking at Bonvoy products, but I really didn’t care for the locations. I ended up really diving in to H10 properties and for the budget (less than 200 euros a night), I decided on H10 Montcada in the Gothic district.
I knew we would want to see as much of the city as possible so I grabbed hop on, hop off bus tickets… I’m not usually a fan of those, but I like the routes and it hit all the hot spots. Plus, we will do a Park Guell tour on the morning of Aug. 3 and La Sagrada Familia in the afternoon. I found the top churro spot of all of Barcelona on IG and a few bars I wanna go by, so it should be a pretty packed itinerary pre-cruise as long as we get there and aren’t too jet lagged.

We really enjoyed the hop on hop off in Barcelona. A couple of lines, they take you to a lot of places.

do not miss strolling along the waterfront, perhaps stopping for a glass of cava while sitting on the couches people watching.

So we’ve heard a LOT about pickpocketing in Barcelona… like way more than normal places we visit. And I have to admit, it does have me slightly concerned. I’ll be carrying my Travelon purse and I grabbed one of these off Amazon for my phone. No roving gang of criminals is gonna steal my phone outta my hand. I have a live to do.

My house is a MESS right now, and Mr. Megan will be here late tonight from work. It looks like a school exploded in a clothing factory. For those that don’t know, back to school open house is Aug. 12 for my 3 kids. Since I’m flying back Aug. 11, I went ahead and collected all the things because there’s no way I’ll be running around looking for map pencils or glue sticks that morning. So everyone’s school supplies are in the entry way. Beyond that, packing them for 11 days and 3 of those days, my oldest will be at cheer camp… plus having regular daily life and activities. There’s just a lot going on over here. That’s just life right now. The struggle of having 3 “only children”. 😆
