Crown Princess Incident

This just on NY1 news with pic's of the ship heading back to Fla.

Ship tilted 180%. One serious injured male pass.

Every news station says something different.

180% would be totally upside down. Don't think we'd be seeing any pics of it heading back to PC if that happened. Not much new info, but here's something from Orlando Sentinel.

WPVI Channel 6 Philadelphia spoke with passenger onboard and I believe showed a live picture of the ship returning to port. The passenger was in the casino at the time of the list and said it was a mess with tables turned over and other damage.

I hope everyone is safe and out of harms way...

Not sure if its live video or not, but I checked a website someone else had posted above, and they have a video feed beside the story - looks like continuous video from a helicopter or local tower - the seas look calm and she doesn't appear to be going anywhere very fast. No idea if its current or live or old.

I hope everyone on board is ok and noone is very badly hurt.

Hope everyone is okay. If anyone on the ship is reading this and you need to return to NYC area try to avoid LGA airport as they have been having major power outages because of the heat wave. Go into either JFK or Newark ( EWR) LGA was shutdown today for 8 hours and cancelled many flights, same thing happened yesterday for a shorter time though.

Good Luck and stay safe!!

Hey, I am quite sure that these people are concerned a little more with their safety than if Princess will be putting them up in a five star hotel for the night. Pretty crass.

Um Yeah...

If the ship had tilted 180% - it would have rolled over twice.

If the ship had rolled 180degrees, we'd be looking at its belly.

From the account of the fellow aboard who was on the phone w/ the news station, more like 30degrees (he couldnt see the ocean from his starboard verandah)

Pilot boat and emergency boat are on the scene - apparently they took on paramedics to do triage on the ship - hopefully they take the little girl off before the ship pulls in...

So this is different then the Grand, where the Grand continued on after the list. This ship is crippled with a rudder problem - everyone will have to leave. (I think?) will they be allowed to pack and take their luggage?

Maybe they will keep the uninjured passengers onboard, using the ship as a hotel while repairs are made?

You took the words right out of my mouth. This post and the one referring to "comp" meals really hit me the wrong way.

Nothing wrong with trying to provide a little comfort and instituting a plan B.

The Grand was doing a u-turn (180 degree TURN) to return to Galveston to evacuate a passenger because of a medical emergency on Feb 4. The damages here sound similar but MUCH worse. Best wishes to all onboard the Crown.

My prayers go out to all those onboard. I live about 2 miles from the port and have been hearing helicopters and ambulances racing up A1A for a bit now. Our local news is reporting that the road leading to the port is closed to allow two helicopters in, one for a child who is being flown to ORMC and one for an adult who is going to Holmes in Melbourne.

NY1 said it took a 180% turn. Write to them, I'm sure they don't have a clue what happened and is reporting what they heard the same way we are repeating what we hear.

Just hope everyone is ok.

Makes me think twice about cruising on her in Sept. Seem like lately princess is jinxed.

Local news has the ship almost docked. She is in the Port Canaveral channel. Wuestoff Hospital is on yellow alert. (no employees can end their shift at this time.) WFTV has just reported 1 critical, 8-10 serious and 30-40 minor to moderate injuries. They also reported that they will be air-evac ing some pax to local hospitals. Let's keep ALL of our fellow cruisers in our prayers. Nancy...I do hope you're O.K.!!

Carol and Nancy,

Oh my gosh...when I saw the news, I logged on as soon as I could (CC is very busy and understandably slow). I'm so relieved that the first post I clicked on was from you guys!!!

Hang in there, hug each other and everyone else who needs one, and I will get busy praying for everyone who is hurt. Have you been able to contact your families? I haven't been able to read every page of this, and I am sure someone has chimed in to help, but if you need mine e-mail me at tracyaroche at cs dot com.

One minute I am getting caught up on your wonderful adventures, and the next...this. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone onboard, and I am so relieved to hear that you all are okay!
