"LIVE" from the Explorer 8-11-06 Cape Liberty

hey radio!

we were all looking for you at the M&M.....where were you?

He was in the back of the room, with CanadianCruser and (after the RC people stopped talking) my family and me.

They really should go around the room and give people the opportunity to introduce themselves. I guess that would take too much time and make the RC people spend another few minutes there before bailing out. But for those who don't necessarily mingle but might want to meet some people, I think it would make the event much more rewarding.

I was also hoping they'd serve some stuff from the restaurant instead of the usual stuff.

Radio & MisterBill99

Thanks so much for the live updates. I'll be on Explorer for a B2B starting on 9/17. I can't wait to hear about your cruise. Thanks so much for sharing everything with us and the pictures.

Keep up the great work and have a fantastic cruise!

What did you think of the M&M party? I've been reading that they haven't been that good.

Sea ya!

Wow! A little scary but so great that the trouble with the pods and lists and turns isn't going to make you late to St. Thomas! The technology and planning must be truly amazing! We are so enjoying your photos and look forward to hearing more about the ocean lab tour.

Two questions:

How many minutes does it take to upload photos by wifi vs. cybercabin?

Is there any place to get helium balloons on ship? (We have two birthdays while onboard EOS in October and no one we know seems to remember any helium balloons onboard...ever.)

Thanks so much for using your valuable vacation time and sharing it with all of us!

It all depends on the size of the photo. With Wi Fi...It takes me 10 minutes to upload 1 photo. With Cybercabin in would take me 10-15 min to upload 1 photo.

Hello everyone. Today was a grest day. Everything was a normal cruise after 930AM. I was able to go to the M/M and meet alot of very nice people. Thanks to MisterBill and CanadianCruiser for being so friendly.

I also went to the OceanLab Tour . It started in the Screening room on Deck 2 for a short video. We then went down to Deck1 to see the lab, The Scientist was very knowlegable and will enjoy her lecture later in the week. We then went up to the Atmospheric Lab which was also very very interesting. The whole tour took about 40 min and was free !

I watched a great Movie today, took a nap, went to all skate and Skated !, went to the gym, went to the Casino and came out a winner. The Crown and Achor Party was tonight. The Captain said that there are 900 C/A members on board. I also found out ( from the Concierge)that there were over 900 children on this week, and 89 Diamond Members.

The next 4 days will be very fun...with a port each day, and tomorrow we stay in St Thomas until 10 PM Carlos the Concierge took care of me by offering me a credit for my WiFi troubles earlier this morning. Very Nice....

Here are a few pics from today...

Wow! I loved the pictures! Our first cruise will be Oct. 29 on the Explorer from Bayonne and it's great to see the photo's so we can see them to know what to expect. We will be on deck 10 in a JS about midship. Any information about that location would be great! I hope you have a wonderful trip and I look forward to reading about your cruise!

So would you recommend only going with the Wi-Fi

What is the cost of the Wi-Fi vs the Cybercabin hook up.

Good to hear about the beds being changed we are on in November and looking forward to it

Jonj,

Are you going on the Nov. 3rd sailing? If so, why don't you come and join our roll call. We've got a great group going. Hope to see you there. Here's the link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=189556

Hey ...I'm back on Wi Fi ! ! I am up in the Viking Crown Lounge with a great connection speed.

I know the Captain said a 6 degree list...but it felt much worse. I was up on Deck12 Aft taking some pics when it happened. The only thing I could think of was the poor new Crown Princess off the coast of Cape Canaveral. At one point we were heading north ! after the big turn.

I saw water coming out of the pools, and spas. I went down to the promenade after we new what happened and there were liquor and perfume bottles knocked over....My attendant told me there were lots of plates that fell off of the tables in the dining room. Well, everything seems to be OK...for a long while we were only travelling 12 kts...and my GPS forecast us to arrive in St Thomas in 48 HRS,,,,,, It appears OK now ...we should arrive on time (1PM Monday) We are now 600 miles east of Palm Beach , FL and are travelling at 21 kts toward St Thomas....

Whew...for a moment.. I thought I would have to get to the muster station very fast ! All is well and I will attend the Meet and Mingle at 1PM.

Oh, great.

Guess on which ship I have three weeks of cruising scheduled?!?!?!?!?!

Bah, there is some sort of plumbing problem on our deck (6). My daughter told me maybe an hour ago that her toilet would not flush, I figured we'd just report it in the AM. Now for the past half hour or so, there has been someone just outside my cabin with what appears to be a power snake, presumably trying to fix the problem. He seems to have stopped for now, but I still can't flush.

Then around 10 (maybe a little earlier) they had a band playing out in the Promenade (we are in Promenade cabins). That was a bit of a surprise, as it was very loud. I thought they only do that sort of thing during the day.

Radio,

Thanks for answering the previous questions.

I was wondering two other items.

1 - Are you allowed to still purchase a bottle of champaghne or wine and have it back in your cabin

and

2- What kind of camara are you using. Very nice pictures. I am looking to buy a new one before I go.

Thanks again, enjoy the ports.

Hi Radio (and Misterbill )

From reading your posts, I know that you have been upgraded on some of your other cruises, and I was wondering if you knew if any upgrades were available, and whether or not you upgraded on this trip ?

Thanks for the reply

KEV :)

If you purchase any alcohol from the on board shops, they will deliver it to your room on the last night...However...If you broght it with you, no worries.

I am using a DSC-W50. It is very compact, and has a very nice lens with an extremely long battery life/

Carol...you will be fine. The Captain told us the list happened because a hydraulic hose burst, but has since been repaired, It's good to know that there are spare parts on board. I have some video that I took during the event. I will post when I return.

I knew before the ship left, that the only cabins left were a couple Junior Suites, so I didn't ask this time. I was already in a D2 Balcony.

It is 7AM now, and I am posting from the Crown and Kettle Club, with a very good signal . . . We should be seeing the Carnival Destiny with us in St Thomas today. She will be there until 5. We will leave at 10 PM. The shops downtown close at 5, but many of the Havensight Mall shops close at 7PM, and some stay open until 9.

I ate at Jhonny Rockets last night, and it was very nice. There were only a few people in there at 6PM.

The ship is very quiet now...I am sure many people are sleeping in. By 9AM...This ship will be awake with anticipation, The Caribbean is upon us and I am looking foeward to ther next 4 days.

I will be able to upload dozens more pics when I get back.
