festigal Posted October 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We are taking a 12 night cruise at the end of the month and it has just dawned on me how many clothes that would require. Does anyone have any advice on the laundry service onboard? I really don't want to bring mountains of clothes if I don't have to. Thanks!
GMoney Posted October 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Advice? Use the laundry service. It's great!
KarinaGW Posted October 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2006 I used it last week on Explorer. Sent out 5 shirts and a pair of shorts. They came back cleaned, pressed and on hangers. very happy with it.
shipshape sam Posted October 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We have used it on a number of cruises and have not had any problems.
HookLine&Sinker Posted October 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We used the laundry service on AOS and thought it was well done. Clothes were returned quickly and the price was very reasonable. Also had a pair of pants that DH "forgot" to try on before we left hemmed and there was "no charge". The tailor came to our cabin, pinned the pants and returned them later that afternoon. When we asked how much he said no charge - we gave him a tip equal to the amount that we would have spent to have them hemmed at home and where thrilled we were able to get it done. FRANKM Posted October 3, 2006 #6 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We have used the laundry service on our past 2 cruises. Will continue to do so. Very easy and well worth it. Clothes come back folded or on hangers. Only takes a day for regular service.

Alexis Posted October 3, 2006 #8 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We just did 2 nights in Miami and 14 nights on the Navigator. We used it 3 times for my husbands clothes. They do a great job and you get it back the next day. ;)
teacherkim Posted October 3, 2006 #9 Share Posted October 3, 2006 The laundry service on AOS was able to get steak juice stain out of my "everyone out of my way, I see meat" husband's white dress shirt! And it was back in 24 hours.
Linda/Ohio Posted October 3, 2006 #10 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We always have at least the clothes we wore on our flight in laudered--so they are clean for the day we go home. I like to be comfy on a flight--so I have certain items I wear and they need to be clean.
cruisingator2 Posted October 3, 2006 #11 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Agree with everyone else that they do a great job and it's nice not to have to mess with it yourself. I have learned to pack less and send out clothes half way through the cruise. Sure makes packing a lot easier.:)
skandls Posted October 3, 2006 #12 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Great job and very good prices on cleaning women's evening dresses. The $8.00 charge was much less than I would pay at home.
paulap70 Posted October 3, 2006 #13 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Ditto to all of the above comments - always use the laundry service. And, when packing, leave half of your clothes at home. You won't need them!
ckrobyn Posted October 3, 2006 #14 Share Posted October 3, 2006 Glad to hear the onboard laundry service is good ! We are taking our first B2B on the AOS in February and I know we will have to send out our laundry a few times during our 14 days at sea :) Is there such a things as same day service? Sue L Posted October 3, 2006 #15 Share Posted October 3, 2006 We used just the pressing service and they did a great job. The pressing is 1/2 the cost of cleaning, so if a shirt is say 4$ then just pressing is 2$
rsscaptain Posted October 3, 2006 #16 Share Posted October 3, 2006 This goes to show ya! LOL I will spend $$ for a suite, booze, spa, and other things that I love, but...I will not spend $$ on cleaning my clothes. LOL I mean really! People keep saying, "just like you'd pay at home". Who doesn't do their own laundry? I'm also wicked fussy about my laundry. I will either do it myself or bring it home. Just my personal observation. rsscaptain Posted October 3, 2006 #19 Share Posted October 3, 2006 In all fairness...you're right! But I'm pretty certain that my expectations would be met. That's just the one thing I woulnd't choose to pay to have done.

We used same day service...they did a terrific job, and if I recall correctly, there was a 50% extra charge for same day (i.e., a blouse that cost $3.00 regular service would cost $4.50 same day). festigal Posted October 4, 2006 Author #21 Share Posted October 4, 2006 :) Wow, this is going to make life so much easier. I never thought about doing laundry en route. Thanks for your ideas and advice!
ArataCPA Posted October 4, 2006 #22 Share Posted October 4, 2006 What are the chances of getting our formal wear pressed and returned before the first formal night on Mariner?
