I hope someone posts a menu from the Jewel for Le Bistro. If they don't have the filet with bernaise and chocolate fondue I will forgo the restaurant altogether. The filet was always better there than at Cagneys...I don't know why but that has always been my experience. Marilyn:rolleyes:

I would like to see the full menu if possible.... When did the cruise ships stop providing the menu on their web site? Do some of the Cruise Companies still provide printed menu's on the internet? I went back and found the menu under the large pictures of someone cooking, etc.... The menu is posted but I can not really see any details.... Maybe we can get another scanned imiage of the menu..... thanks..

See Post #4 for a link to the full menu. I don't believe NCL has ever posted menus on their web site. I have always relied on past passengers posting scans or photos of the menus. AFAIK, it's the same for all the mainstream cruise lines, but I could be wrong about that.

I will have to check out the menu when we board ship in January. If it has changed too much and nothing seems "special" enough for the surcharge, we will pass. Too bad, as we always go one time during our cruise every year as our special dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and this year will be our 35th. Oh well.

I know I'll be among the minorty, :o but the menu looked pretty good to me. It's been several years since we've sailed NCL, and Le Bistro will be one of the first restaurants we make a reservation for. I remember the great food and the even better ambiance.

While I'm no huge fan of the Fondu, I will miss the filet. It was a great way to start of the cruise when we went, and I'm gonna miss it on our next cruise.

Oh, I guess I'll put in my other halfs opinion-

DON'T DROP THE FONDU!

Trust me NCL, she's scarry when she wants her way!

I think it looks wonderful and more "French" then before! I loved my filet in Le Bistro, I have eaten it maybe 200 times, but I guess since there is now a Steak House, they concentrate on cuisine. Le Bistro came on the NCL ships a long time ago, when there wa sno Freestyle cruising to give an alternative. The menu changed never since it was introduced. It was time now! I think actually it looks wonderful! I can' wait to taste it!

By the way...they have Chateaubriant...which is a filet! I don't get it, why people are so ignorant about changes? They do not need to be bad!

I think it's a bit much to accuse people of being ignorant. People are merely expressing their preferences, which are opinions, therefore cannot be right or wrong. Also, keep in mind that the Chateaubriand is for two.

Yes, the meat in Chateaubriand is filet, but it is prepared differently. I like Chateaubriand and filets, but I would not consider either a reasonable substitute for the other if I was ordering in a restaurant.

And it is an extra $10 pp ;) For those that can't read the fine print on the pictures of the menus posted. Just save a copy to your PC and use the zoom feature of what ever photo software you are using.

I think in over 40 diners in the Bistro I had something other then the filet twice, I will miss it. I wonder if I can go for half price and skip an entrée.

Shrimp and scallop Martini , double escargots, salad, and bread

For those who eat desert the the Chocolate Soufflé is not a bad replacement but it is only on the chefs tasting menu (extra $10 pp)

This is the reasons they have a Steakhouse, to eat STEAK! 2 same items in 2 different food outlets is stupid! If you are nice, they make it possible anyhow!

I got already served things from the Bistro Menu in the main restaurants, because I only eat filet, when it becomes a steak!

To be honest, Duck and all the other items look wonderful! I can not wait.

For the rest get over it!!! NO MORE CHOCOLATE FONDUE for you!!!:D

They should charge even more...like in a restaurant and really give propper service and quality! What are $25.00 for a upgrade of excellent food...NOTHING!

I too will miss the filets as I found them better prepared at La Bistro than at Cagneys. I will also miss the asparagus which doesn't look to be on the menu. That being said.... I loved the ambiance of La Bistro and will find something on the new menu I enjoy too. It's all what you make of it!

As I've said in the other post--- the reason I am SO VERY CONCERNED about all this is--- I'm going to be sailing on the Majesty with NO cagney's. Le Bistro is the one pay specialty restaurant. So sneakerstud...there is your answer

I am not a lover of french food (or seafood for that matter.) The filet worked for me. Fancy, something out of the ordinary.

As for the chicken with oyster sauce-- that was posted by someone who tried the new menu on the other thread-- maybe mushroom AND oyster sauce?

I don't get it! "If it ain't broke don't fix it" is my motto. If they want to change the menu and make it more French....go right ahead. But, don't take away the stuff people love. They can add things to the menu but I see no good reason to take things away...especially the 'Filet". I mean what's the point of this? It's not like this is one of the "free restaurants".

Filet Mignon is French.....yep it is! It is a French derivative of a small cut of meat. I say it is French enough to stay on the menu.

I will still go to Le Bistro, and I am sure the food specialist at NCL know that their passengers will be made up of mostly new people who will never know what they are missing so therefore the change will not affect a darn thing. :(

We ate at LeBistro twice on our recent Dream cruise. We enjoyed the lobster and scallop martinis. The onion and mushroom soups (served in a bread bowl) were delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp encrusted salmon and my fiance said his short ribs/tenderloin was good, too. The creme brulee was to die for. In short, both meals were very memorable. We're looking forward to LeBistro on the Pearl in just a few months.
