Is There a Way To Determine If a Group Is Booked On Your Cruise

I am on board the Eurodam and looking for group mates to tour St. Petersburg with me and my family. this week.

Welcome to Cruise Critic! :)

Here is the thread for your Roll Call:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1057878

There are about 60 Cruise Critic members having a Meet & Greet in the Piano bar at 10:00a on June 1. That is your best bet to meet others for excursions.

Since getting off in St Petersburg requires a visa, I suspect that most people have either booked HAL excursions or private tour companies that arrange for visas for you.

Good luck! :)

Hi Everyone!

This is Karen from ourpassportstamps.com....

The website is our personal travel journal, there is absolutely nothing commercial on it. No selling, No

advertising and we aren't paid to play...

I'm going to begin working on updating the group section in the next couple of weeks.

If you know of a group that is NOT Holland America please let me know.

Our email is on the website

I know there was info that someone didn't feel comfortable posting

..I have no problem putting the link up on our personal travel journal

..I think it's important that all groups are mentioned

and then that allows us to make an informed decision about our hard earned vacation dollars.

Thanks for your time...

Bon Voyage

K.

We are on the Nieuw Amsterdam on 14th November and we have just had our dining arrangements changed due to a group of 800 joining the ship  for the first week only . I really hope they are a quiet crowd as we are travelling from the UK for a holiday of peace and quiet . Does any one know who they are as HAL will not confirm for me .

We are on the June 27th Veendam Bermuda cruise, We looked forward to a nice relaxed cruise.

I see that there are 300 Eagles fans on the ship. The ship is not that large, and that means noise, obnoxious fans, lots of drunk passengers (sorry I am stereotyping), and so on. My Mom who is in great shape but is 89 years old will be thrilled we booked this sailing as are my wife and I. None of us are sports fans, and this could prove to be an awful experience. I hope not.

I guess I am glad we were forewarned. I hope that everything on the ship is not geared to Eagles fans, and so on.

Wildwoods,

Well, some of us are party animals and some aren't. It's inevitable that a group that large will have an impact. There are a couple of nights when we're having a private party pool-side, and some late night events. My previous experience is that most of the stuff we do will be in the Theater during the day.

I understand, but I am surprised the group is taking HAL which is generally older passengers who want to relax. I am 56 and certainly understand that many people do enjoy the party atmosphere, however it should not impact others on the ship, and hopefully it will not. Bermuda is a very conservative island, so it is possible the group going is not the wild crazy fans that I tend to,and possibly wrongly so, associate with large gatherings of sports fans

You mentioned a private party poolside and some evening events as well as activities in the theater. This of course means that others can not use those facilities. I feel cruise lines should tell others when a larger group is booked for one particular sailing so the passengers have the option of booking another date.

Who knows maybe I will enjoy the group. Either way, I am sure we will all have a great time. We have not been to Bermuda in a long time, since we did not want to dock in Kings Wharf. We were glad to see they are back on Front street,

Knowing HAL it will be all organised and orchestrated beautifully, and as for impact........yes it already has ! we have had our dining arrangements changed but for the better :Dso no complaints there. And on the bright side if your group are having a party maybe it will leave other areas of the ship free like the casino! Lectures during the days time ??? does that mean you miss excursions ??? Look forward to seeing you all.

I'm not sure which group you're talking about, the Eagles fans or the post election cruise group, but the post election cruise group, judging from the last cruise I went on with them are older passengers who want to relax. I don't think being in a group and being older and wanting to relax are inconsistent.

As large groups go, this is a pretty easy one to share a ship with - no or very few kids and most events are geared towards lectures and discussions. Honestly I would take them over a smaller group of college students any day.

Having said that, I can't vouch for 800 people, only the 20 or so I know personally.

I am joining the thread late and may have missed a post on this (and, if so, I apologize). Can someone please tell me if you all know of any groups that will be on the Oosterdam to Alaska for the August 15, 2010 cruise? I know that the Twilight group will be on the Oosterdam to Alaska the week prior to this.

Of course, there is nothing to be done about it now, but I would like to know and to brace myself should need be :D.

Thanks!

Several weeks ago I participated in a thread on this subject and set up a database including all groups I knew about at that time. I added groups mentioned in that thread and now have added groups mentioned in the two most recent threads. It is located at www.wa70.com/hdisplay.php. I will add any groups emailed to me, and any I happen to find. I will also add any other common HAL info anyone feels is would be appropriate.

Rich

Thank you so much!

Our family specifically chose the 8/15 cruise over the 8/8 cruise to avoid that 1000+ pax group. AFAIK there aren't any groups on the 8/15 sailing. At least not anything major involving hundreds of pax (a thorough Google search would have probably revealed such a group by now).

So no worries! Have a great cruise!

I found that there is a "Paula Deen Cruise" on the Nieuw Amsterdam for January 30-February 6, 2011.

Does anyone know if these are big groups?

They are showing a number of special events just for this group, including a private BBQ on the Lido Pool Deck and one at HMC. Hope this doesn't interfere with our use of the island!
