How to post large picturs in reply

And, just FYI, Kodak Gallery (and Snapfish along with others, I'm sure) do not allow direct linking. Hence the reason the photo links in my sig don't work. Haven't had time to transfer to a site allowing direct links. :p

Thanks Aprille. LOL. I guess my "foreground" vegetation is a bit distracting but I enjoy putting foreground in the pics sometimes. ;)

I use Photo bucket also and have found, once I click the selected photo, I hilight & copy the IMG Link, then Paste to the Reply Screen, & hilight again before submitting and here are the Pictures taken during our Festival of Lights Parade on Dec 6 2008 PM.

Fred & Lily, I use the img codes all the time off Photobucket, I just check the picture I wish, hilight/copy the img link, return to the reply screen, and paste, hilight again and submit. I found I don't need to use the Insert Picture Icon on the reply screen.

I was afraid this would happen. It is possible the site does not allow direct linking. FYI, I followed your link, right clicked on the photo and posted it. I could see the picture clearly.

 

I than went to a few other threads and then came back to this one. The first thing I did, before checking my post was to clear my cache. The cache is a storage area on your computer where your computer will retrieve recently obtained information. It is faster than getting it from the Internet. However, it can fool people into thinking a link worked when it really did not.

 

Sure enough, before I cleared my cache I could see your photo. Once I cleared my cache I could not see it any longer. The only reason this would be true (that I know of) is if the site where your photo is hosted does not allow direct linking.

 

I could of course cheat and upload your photo to my photobucket account. Then link to that.

Going back to the beginning ... (from someone else's post on page 1)

 

Find the photo you wish to use.

In the link to this picture section (right side of page 1/2 way down) scroll down the page (or press "page down"- about 1/2 way down there is a box on the right hand side - headed (in dark gray) "Link to this picture"

Click the little box that has a 500 above it.

Copy the text in the "post in a forum" area (click on the code which will highlight it, then right-click and select copy or press ctrl-C)

Paste the text in the message area of your post to cc (i.e. right-click and select paste or press ctrl-V)

 

If you are unable to find the box 1/2 way down the page, there is a yellow box to the right of your picture. The top item on the right column says "link to it" - click that, the new window will display the same info that the gray box mentioned earlier has, proceed as detailed above, i.e. click on the 500 box etc.

Thank you so much for the help! I've never tried to do this, but I decided to try it with a photo I took of the Marjorie Glacier when cruising in June on the Coral Princess. This is on Webshots.
