krogerlady Posted December 24, 2008 #155 Share Posted December 24, 2008 That is what I thought you were suppose to do....used what we called the "little yellow mountain " icon in the msn groups, but we used links to our own computers. Okay, can I assume you leave the http in the line? I think I backspaced it out....maybe I will try one more time. Everyone too busy today to notice my fumbling around:mad:

winesfine Posted December 24, 2008 #158 Share Posted December 24, 2008 Testing as well since I seemed to have the same challenges as krogerlady. Victorians know how to handle snow If I use the mountain icon, it doesn't work. If I use copy and paste image tag from photobucket, it works. Go figure ;o)

Victorians know how to handle snow If I use the mountain icon, it doesn't work. If I use copy and paste image tag from photobucket, it works. Go figure ;o) If you copy the image tag, it will already insert the "" tags around it, If you paste that into the dialog box that the "yellow mountain" pops up, the tags are doubled and will error out. It worked and provided us with a great photo! :D Very cool...if you'll pardon the pun! Dave
bruce-r Posted December 24, 2008 #160 Share Posted December 24, 2008 Is this the photo test thread now? The snow has covered the christmas lights in the front yard. There's a layer of ice in the middle of the snow thank to the freezing rain we had earlier in the week.

Everyone too busy today to notice my fumbling around:mad: I'm surprised that nobody has picked up on this yet... but in reviewing your comments it sounds like you are trying to link to an image on your computer. Is that correct? The first thing you have to do is upload the picture from your computer to a photo hosting site (Picasa, Photobucket, Webshots). Are you doing this? Then you insert the link address in the dialog box that comes up when you click on the mountain. Note that the link address is a web address that must have the "http://" in it. The photo sits on the computer at the photo hosting site (not on Cruise Critic's computer) and there is a seamless link that makes it look like it is stored in your post. It really isn't, though. Keep trying. It's worth the results. Pete

Everyone too busy today to notice my fumbling around:mad: Click on the "yellow mountain" - in the little window that appears, the "http" will be greyed. Right-click and choose "paste" to drop your picture url. Then click OK and your photo should appear in the message window. NOTE: you need to have the complete url, e.g. in the case of your rose photo it's http*://pictures.cruisecritic.com/data/504/medium/Roses_001_Small_.jpg (I added the * to prevent it from trunkating again!) (the trunkated version from your earlier post which was http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/data/...001_Small_.jpg will get anyone to your picture on the photo gallery, but it does not work in the yellow mountain window)

odblnt Posted February 22, 2009 #167 Share Posted February 22, 2009 See what happens now. Are you sure that flickr allows direct linking to an image. I should be able to click on that link (even though it isn't showing a photo) and get right to your image, but it asks for a login. That sort of tells me that you might not be able to do a direct link.

keh13jlw12 Posted April 1, 2009 #173 Share Posted April 1, 2009 mamaofami - don't give up so easily :) Going back to the beginning ... (from someone else's post on page 1) Find the photo you wish to use. In the link to this picture section (right side of page 1/2 way down) scroll down the page (or press "page down"- about 1/2 way down there is a box on the right hand side - headed (in dark gray) "Link to this picture" Click the little box that has a 500 above it. Copy the text in the "post in a forum" area (click on the code which will highlight it, then right-click and select copy or press ctrl-C) Paste the text in the message area of your post to cc (i.e. right-click and select paste or press ctrl-V) If you are unable to find the box 1/2 way down the page, there is a yellow box to the right of your picture. The top item on the right column says "link to it" - click that, the new window will display the same info that the gray box mentioned earlier has, proceed as detailed above, i.e. click on the 500 box etc. Good luck :) Where you say 1/2 down the page....which page are you referring to? I'm totally lost on how to post these pics, lol. I have tried everything, even copy and paste....nothing has worked. Help me out please
keh13jlw12 Posted April 1, 2009 #174 Share Posted April 1, 2009 Ok, I have been trying to figure this out, and have yet to succeed. Is it possible to copy and paste the photo from my computer or do I have to use a photo hosting site such as photobucket? I have tried the "insert image" button and everything. Nothing has worked... Is it possible to copy and paste the photo from my computer or do I have to use a photo hosting site such as photobucket? I have tried the "insert image" button and everything. Nothing has worked...You can only post a very small photo by uploading it from your computer. If you want to post a large photo, join one of the free photo hosting sites, like Photobucket or Webshots.
