There has been much talk over the years for a level beyond Elite for frequent cruisers or a parallel program and benefits similar to RCI Platinum Plus. In conversations with sales people it seems that Celebrity is still so young that few people would qualify for a higher level anyways. We joined Captain's Club after our first Celebrity cruise in 1994 and went to a party where fewer than a dozen people showed up. Now some sailings have nearly a 1,000 members attending.

I'm just curious on how many cruise critic people would qualify for a higher level so here's the next poll:

There is a reciprocal arrangement where your level is recognized by both Celebrity and RCI but cruises on one are not added to cruises on the other. There is no Celebrity level (as yet) that equals RCI Platinum Plus.

I think you mean Diamond Plus, which is the highest level on RCI.

I don't think it matters on Celebrity because they do not offer any of the perks that RCI does. RCI has a very loyal following due to the great perks offered. We are Platinum of RCI and had a tough time deciding to sail Celebrity without those discounts.

TRadle, You are so right. RCI does offer wonderful perks and discounts, and that's what keeps us going back to Royal Caribbean cruises.

When we joined the Captain's Club in the 1980's onboard the old Meridian, everyone who joined paid $45.00 per person to belong to the club.

We enjoy Celebrity because they are a little more upscale and traditional, but now that we're retired and on a smaller budget, we book RC more often.

I think Celebrity should review the Captains Club in general before they start adding other categories to its programme. Attaining the Elite level is not easy for some and yet easy for others, because their loyality programme is based on cruises completed not days on board. Using a calculation of the number of days on board would be a much better and more equal way to attain a level in the Captains Club programme. Then an option of a higher category would be worthwhile.

Without very many perks, attaining Elite or Elite Plus is a hollow accomplishment--Royal carib gives much more to Diamond & Diamond Plus & is working on strategies to accomodate the growing numbers of repeat customers.

Day on board or money spent should be a better measure of these perks--Some people stocked up on a bunch of short trips to get their status---yet cruisers who take a 10 11 or 12 day cruise in a non suite or CC cabin get one measley credit..

Hi Everyone !

I've been continuously asking Celebrity for 2 new Captains Club levels for about 3 years now. I always put it on the comment cards, and whenever I call Captains Club, I ALWAYS ask them to put my suggestion in the comment box. I urge you to do the same.

While I am all for new levels, I feel the entire program needs to be completely overhauled, as Celebrity has one of the most disappointing loyalty programs in the industry. Royal Caribbean's Crown & Anchor program is far better than Celebrity's, which makes little sense, as Celebrity is their upscale line. Hopefully, 2008 will be the year it happens.

One other item.... why on Earth doesnt Celebrity have a Private Lounge like they have on Royal Caribbean ships ? If they want to create a nice upgrade/perk for their most loyal passengers, this is the very first item they should add. I sincerely hope the Solstice Class ships will have a dedicated are for this amenity.

As the poll reaches it's first 100 cruise critic Celebrity cruisers, 25% would be at the Diamond/Platinum Plus level, despite not having any meaningful perks to keep us coming back.

Would it not be grand for there to be an "Olympus" concierge lounge on Solstice Class ships for rewarding all those who have supported the Celebrity brand so often?

I completely agree. Royal loyals have been receiving free wines, mixed drinks, sodas, etc. in the conceirge lounges, plus up to $300 balcony discounts with Royal Caribbean.

There are many other perks as well, such as coupons for free casino cash, internet credit, etc.

It would be a very smart business move if Celebrity would consider giving loyal pax the same. :)

If you are asking about RC, it is an extra credit for a JS or a suite and an extra credit for a longer cruise.....12 nights and up.

I have slowly climbed my way up the ladder through many cruises in regular balcony staterooms over the past 26 years.

We like to bring our married children and our grandsons, and we have paid for additional balconies for them, but you only get one credit for your own stateroom; not according to how many cabins you pay for.

Hope this helps you. :)

I tried searching but the function seems to be down right now. I forget under which circumstances you can get multiple cruise credits, can someone please remind me?

Susie,

You get an additional credit for cruises of 12 nights or more. You also get an additional credit if you book a suite or CC room. The maximum number of credits you can get on a cruise is three. Hope this helps.

You can get 2 cruise credits for sailing in a CC on an 11 day or a 3 day cruise. In Oct/November we sailed in a FV on Constellation for 21 days and picked up 2 credits. Century Concierge or short Mercury cruises are the way to pick up credits in a hurry. Personally I count cruise weeks and (*7) days at sea as a rough guess at the how long we've been at sea for all our cruises.

I think Celebrity rewards people on short cruises since the achievement of the next level is, till now, insignificant in any cost/benefit to the cruise line.
