Best Ship for Adults Only

I have also found the Casino far more active on Carnival then on any other cruise lines.

Well except on the Legend last week. Never seen it deader. The most I ever saw playing craps was 7 people. Most of the time it was just 2 or 3. Never really had a problem getting a blackjack table either. Some nights there was no one playing Caribbean stud poker or fun 21 or face up blackjack. (this was around 10:00 PM too.

I did not know about the over age 21 Celebrity cruises, that does intrigue me. Personally I would love to find a cruise that is over 25 and under 65. If not in real age at lest in mindset.

Said with love... lol

When you find the cruise that falls between booze and snooze let me know!!!:D

Although I have a child myself, I have a very low tolorance for "other people's" children. We generally take our family cruise late Nov - early Dec due to the fact that the rates are lower right between the two holiday breaks, and there are generally less children. On the Fanasty last month I barely saw any children. Maybe that is because most kids had just gone back to school from the Christmas/New Year's break, or it could have been because I did not have my child with me so I just mentally blocked out the children. The only kids that stick out in my mind were the four that joined their parents at the past guest party. All were very young and screamed and carried on through the time we were there.

ugh dont you hate that!!!!!!!!! i am so not child friendly

The Spirit class ships have an adult only pool....so that will be a plus for them. I really like that class of ship for size and layout.

When we sailed on the Victory to Canada the end of Sept...there were 26 people under the age of 18.

Any time when kids are in school. September and January are both good.

Enjoy!!!

Isn't comparing the Canada/Caribbean itineraries kind of like trying to compare apples and oranges?

Princess has adults only solarium and they enforce it. They also have youth security and keep kids under control if need be. The Caribbean itinerary is just as lively as Carnival.........

I am glad to hear that about Princess and the Caribbean. I do very much agree that Princess does enforce no kids allowed in the adult pool area/solarium... I am hoping, that the Dawn Princess Snooze cruise was some sort of aberration that was caused by the pathetic job the CD (Gavin and his staff) did.

For example, on the last sea day the HIGHLIGHTS of the day were, as offered in the Patter, (I am NOT kidding) Art Auction, (3 times in 7 days) Married over 50-years get together, and the GLBT get together (offered 3 times in 7 days) oh, there was also a Service Club get together (offered twice in 7 days) and a Friends of Bill W meeting (offered 3 times in 7 days) … PLEASE hold me back; I cannot stand all of the excitement!

Before I forget, on the last sea day there was also a Scholarship @sea lecture about finding love and happiness in the “Golden years”. Yes there was Bingo..... how can I forget that. By the way, none of the highlights on most of the sea days and in particular on the last sea day offered anything I or GF have any interest in or meet the requirements of.

LOL!

Seriously though we get bored on sea days on Carnival. We just compensate that with hanging out with great friends and family. Whether it is hanging out by the pool or casino.....

The Carnival Spirit to Mexico was our snooze cruise. But I guess every cruise line has one lol!

I was on the 2/8 sailing of Grand Princess and of the 2700 passengers, 50 some were children. It was what we were looking for, however the ship was dead by 11 p.m. We are looking at a Carnival cruise next and hope to find a more lively crowd ;)

Yes, but with the old crowd come … granted less kids but also , how can I say this…. well, the ship is DEAD after, oh, lets say right after early dining... OK, that is a bit over the top, but in truth, the HAL, Princess and Celebrity ships often do get very slow, yes dead even, very early into the evening.

If you want late night activities, such as a midnight adult rated comedy, more late night activities, Carnival is the way to go! You do risk there being a lot of kids, but the trade off is you don’t risk being ran over by walkers and wheel chairs, (I had my foot ran over by one of the little electric scooters just last week on the Dawn Princess.. NOT KIDDING) and watching paint dry as being the big event of the night. I can hardly wait for the new Celebrity Solstice, they will be replacing “Watching paint dry” with “Watching the grass grow”

It's too bad your experience on Princess was not to your liking but they are FAR from the picture that you paint. We have had fantastic experiences on our Princess cruises (as we have on Carnival) and, since we always eat at a later time, we have witnessed first hand the plethora of activities/shows/dancing/etc. available on Princess into the late night hours. Perhaps your itinerary was the issue and not the cruise line itself. Even on an incredibly port intensive trip such as our Med cruise last fall we still saw plenty of people partying into the wee hours.

As I said, my past with Princess up until LAST week was although not as lively over all as the Carnival cruises I have been on, I would never call them a snooze cruise. Well last week on the Dawn Princess was a wake up call... so to speak. I adore Princess.. have 6 FCC waiting for me to put to good use..... but I will pay far more attention to who the CD is... will NEVER go on any Princess cruise where Gavin is the CD unless it is such a port intensive cruise that the CD matters little.

But, going by what the OP said he was looking for, with my substantial cruise experience on several lines, I do suggest Carnival to find what he says he seeks in a cruise. Although as a whole the Caribbean does not hold much interest for me, I will take Kurbanfan opinon to heart and give Princess consideration for a Caribbean cruise.

Yes, sometimes it the luck of the draw. I think 7 days cruises are your best bet for fewer kids. And, we've cruised twice in October and there were very few kids. I always sun on the back decks, above the kiddie pools and even with kids on board, I never see any up there. And, don't see them at night in the bars and casinos, anyway. I'm just not sure how to make the best choice as far as revelers..lol. I've seen cruises where there was TOO much revelry and some with not enough! No rhyme or reason there, I'm afraid!

That's interesting...I never gave much thought to the CD but I think I will now! I guess he/she is more of a factor than the itinerary.

carnival has put a huge twist in trying to be "family friendly." go when kids are in school, you will find less of the pestors! there will be no nude groups or charters. :D

Well, in May, on the Elation, I just found out there is to be some 400+ swingers on board. Me thinks this will be a very interesting cruise. I seriously doubt I will have the boredom issues on Elation I had on The Dawn Princess. Just the people watching should be top notch!

I don't list cruises I have been on, just ones booked/up coming.... I am NOT attacking Celebrity. So settle down. I gave my opinion. I’ll say again, I am in no way a cheerleader and I am in no way loyal to any one cruise line. If ANY cruise line offers and delivers the product I seek for a cruise, I am happy, if they don’t, I am not. It is really cut and dry, not much grey area with me on that.

I will say, some friends, mid 40’s/50’s did the Mercury out of Australia last Nov and found it rather slow. However, such has yet to be the situation for me. I HAD yet to have such occur on a Princess cruise UNTIL last week on the Dawn Princess…. So It is good to know you have always picked well with Celebrity, hope the trend continues for you.

So, if I am looking for a more lively, and a bit rowdy time with music that was recorded since the advent of the compact disc but not a drink until you puke cruise

with walkers and elec “rascal” scooters few, I have found Carnival meets that need. They have a midnight Adult comedy show of some sort most nights, which I have yet to see on Celebrity, Princess or HAL. I have also found the Casino far more active on Carnival then on any other cruise lines.

What i said about people attacking Carnival and never sailed it.. was just a general statement and no offense was intended.

I would never respond negatively to something i didnt try...

When i saw your future cruise list, i misread it and thought you had based your celebrity experience on the Alaska cruise, which i have heard from several friends, is well, a snooze cruise.

I am certainly not 'loyal' to one line, i will take a cruise where i can get it..But out of all the cruises i have been i did favor X..

Sorry for the miscommunication

Thank you, this is exactly the information I was looking for. We are adults but still breathing, nothing against the older generation as I will be there soon enough and if I have a walker I will bring it along. I didn't say there should be no children, just looking to reduce the numbers. I really don't think I would even like an adults only cruise, and that doesn't guarantee anything anyway.

I think Carnival still sounds like a good ship, instead it looks like the time of year is more the thing to consider. Let's just say we don't plan on going to bed directly after supper. :) Too expensive a trip to roll up the carpet so early.

Thanks again.

We have traveled the 2nd and 3rd week in May for past four years for just that reason..have always had good luck; few kids and kids that are on board are pretty well behaved...been lucky or hitting the timing just right

Would this be the 5/3 cruise?
