Jayne315 Posted April 10, 2008 #210 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Fred...There is a beach bar in St. Maartin called Sunset Beach Bar in Maho. It is located at the tip of the airport and all the plane fly over this bar to land. It is quite a sight when the Air France jet land the sand on the beach goes everywhere. I even saw a jeep flip over from the thrust of a plane landing! Sunset Beach Bar also let women drink for free if they go topless!! Fred....when you are ready to cruise on the Crown Princess I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Wennfred Posted April 10, 2008 Author #211 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Any word on getting Todd's email or giving him mine? Got Todds, email, will get with you when I get home. Fred ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Freedom Day 6 AT SEA Cont. Platinum Laundry Service & Past Guest Party I forgot to mention, the way it works for the Platinum Laundry service, if you have the cabin steward pick up the laundry bag before 10am, you will get your bag by 6pm, if they pick it up after 10am then you will get it back the next morning. We just return from the Past Guest party, the Video is new because of the new CEO and even John Herald has a part in it. Someone won a free supper club for tonight and also got a picture with Todd and the Capt. We got to try alot of different drinks at this Past Guest party, it was very nice. The only new thing that Todd mentioned at the part was that they will have some type of Rewards for those that book future cruises while onboard, he didnt mention anything about OBC's. Wennfred Posted April 11, 2008 Author #219 Share Posted April 11, 2008 Freedom Day 6 AT SEA Cont. For those asking about Andrew DeSosa, yes he was on the Fantasy and the Glory and other ships before he landed this new position as Master Chef of the Fleet, also according to the Waiters the new menu is already on the Fantasy class ships. The Freedom is the first of the Conquest, Destiny and Spirit classes to start getting the new dishes, not sure if he is going onboard those ships to ensure the new dishes are done correctly. I got a copy, actually the orignal copy of that menu that has the Free Range Spring Chicken Sicilian Style, thats the correct name and its one of the new dishes, it was served with Stewed Potatoes and Crisp Garlic Seasoned Green Beans and that same night I also had the Braised Style Short Ribs from Aged Premium American Beef, it was served with Sesame Eggplant and Fried Rice. Make sure you order both of these as they were good. Also they renamed the section below on the menu, it used to be called Alternative Selections, remember that? well its now called Carnival Classics. That night an example of the Carnival Classics were: Broiled Fillet of Fresh Norwegian Salmon Grilled Breast of Corn Fed Chicken Grilled Flat Iron Steak of American Choice Beef Baked Idaho Potatoes, French Fries or Steamed White Rice Assorted Steamed Vegetables, Then under that they have only 1 SPA selection, which on this menu it was the Broiled Supreme of Free Range Chicken. Tonight they brought back the BAKED ALASKA, Its done very different now, its served in a small clear glass. Also tonights dinner was great, I had the Chard Chicken and also the Chateaubriand, the Chateaubriand was medium rare which for this type of beef is perfect. Cathy had the Fruit Plate and the Grilled Jumbo Shrimp and the Baked Alaska for dessert, she got two. Tonight the Gala Buffet is held on Lido deck at 11:30pm, right under the Fish & Chips station close to where the Desserts are located. I will be at the FAT KAT comedy show at that time. I need to now mention my Cabin Steward because I forgot to talk about him earlier, his name is Gede, This guy knows what he is doing, he doesn't need to be asked anything, he just knows. He saw that Wendy had her Cool Aloe Ice burn relief Gel in the Ice and he got us a White bucket like the ones you see with the Beer in the bucket full of ice and put her Gel in it, he also took care of our Laundry and always made our cabin twice a day even after sleeping in till 9:30am. Always provided clean towels and just did everything right. We probably seen him like 3 times this whole cruise. He will surely get an extra nice Tip from us and I will add his name on my list of names when I write Carnival Headquarters. Cathy's cabin is located on Riviera Deck, deck 1. Its a nice single Cat.1a inside cabin, she hasn't seen much of her Cabin steward but has taken care of her also. Our waiters have been one of the best we ever had, they also took care of Cathy knowing that she is a first time cruiser and they also took care of us too. Very good at what they do, very people oriented also. The waiters do enjoy working on Freedom now, these Maitre'D treat all of them fair, there was a Maitre'D that didn't and he favored only a selected few of waiters and only those got paid more then the others, lucky that guy is gone and everyone is happy. Because of the 2 time frames they have tons of waiters down in the galley waiting for the dishes and for us, we can't tell as the food is coming up fast but its crazy down there. Its 10:50pm and I will be heading down to the Theater to see Fat Kat, but first I will hand over my wallet once more to the casino on my way to the theater. LOL. Oh one last thing, I saw that American Airlines cancelled another 500 flights, I guess we will probably be walking home if we cant get a flight back to Vegas. What a mess, I will probably be checking into the Holiday Inn if our flight is cancelled. You will know. 30 More minutes left on my Internet Account and 1 more day left, not bad. dianef Posted April 11, 2008 #223 Share Posted April 11, 2008 Going to miss reading your posts once this cruise is over.Hope you are not affected by the plane cancellations. Are you flying on the types of planes they are cancellling? If not,you should be fine.Hope you have a great last day of your cruise.Anymore cruises planned for this year?Iknow you have the Splendor for next March.I could not survive a whole year without a cruise.Spoiled,I guess.(lol).It seems like you had pretty good weather all week.I don't think you need any type of sweater or jacket for these ports,is that correct? barbevrn Posted April 11, 2008 #224 Share Posted April 11, 2008 Fingers crossed and saying prayers that your flight IS NOT canceled. At least you made it onboard and have had a great week. cathyoo Posted April 11, 2008 #225 Share Posted April 11, 2008 BP, not to dispute Fred's account of what he was told, but we looked into the all inclusive program that is offered to groups and it was more like $300+ per person, which would have been almost $700 a couple in my case. EVERYONE in our group would have had to pay that price, and we had people who didn't drink a drop, so it just wouldn't have worked. If we had known about it before booking our group, we could have worked it where we had the drinkers in a separate group from the non-drinkers ... maybe next time. :D Fred, thanks for an awesome live report. You can definitely make those sitting at our computers feel like we are along for the ride with you. And cannot wait to see your pictures upon your return! My understanding was that on Carnival it was $30 a day. Was your cruise a 10 cruise?
