Well Dad, it looks like you are a lucky lucky guy this week! Everywhere you have toured so far is beautiful! So the town crier was in a wheel chair! PLease tell me he said, "Here ye, here ye." Omg... Also, are those pediways heated & cooled? Just wondering. I am very surprised that you took a private taxi tour. You let someone else drive! :)

Well travel on Dad. Enjoy!

Ha ha. . .

Yes he did say " Here ye. . .here ye. . . On this day we would like to welcome the Carnival Victory" and alot of other stuff. I have heard that they do this for all of the Cruise Ships that visit. It was very cool. I took a video of the event. . .

The towers you saw in the photos have been there for a long time. . .I don't know the names of them though. . .

Hello everyone. . . We left the beautiful city of Halifax today promptly at 6PM.

Would love to spend a few days up here. There is just so much to do, with so little time during an 8hr Port of Call. That will be something for the future.

The "VIA" Canadian Rail System had a rail station just a few blocks from the Pier. Hmmm. . . I could take a train up here !

The dinner tonight featured Chateaubriand. It was delicious ! I can’t say that I have had a bad meal on this ship yet !

I enjoyed 2 grilled Reuben’s last night at the Deli. . .They were excellent.

I went to the Vroom Show, and I can tell you that it might be one of the Best Cruise Ship Production Shows I have seen.

The show was full of energy, with great dancing, and music. There were tons of special effects. . . Lasers, pyrotechnics, strobes. It was much better than I have been used to seeing on some other ships (RCI, NCL, HAL)

There are so many photos that I will post when I get home. Here are a few more from today. . .

Thanks for tuning in !

Thank you soooo much for taking time out of your vacation to do this. When we get on the Victory it will be her first sailing from San Juan. You have answered the 2 questions I could not find the answer too (surprise surprise they were about food :D). I have had no desire to take a cruise to Canada, UNTIL NOW!!!! You pictures are beautiful and it looks really relaxing. thanks again for doing this. WOW!

Glad you're having fun on the Victory. I'm booked w/ my family in October out of Norfolk on the Victory to the Bahamas- we usually do the Grandeur from Baltimore but trying something different--- if you could compare, and any tips/ highlights, etc.. thanks!

Hello everyone. . .

I really slept great last night. Tonight they will be having the Carnival legends Show, which stars passengers who have auditioned for their ability to portray stars of stage, screen, and music. . .

It should be a fun show !

They have a new Debarkation process in place that eliminates Colored Luggage Tags being called.

They now offer debarkation by Zones. The zones will be called by the higher deck called first, and the lowest deck called last.

It was suggested that all passengers will be off of the ship by 10:30AM. Self Assist debarkation is scheduled to begin at 7:15AM.

There is no rush for me to get off quick. I drove, and parked on the Pier. . .(The traffic should be calmed down by 10:30AM)

I think that is was great that the Pursers desk offered

a Free Chronicle Herald (Halifax local paper) today.

They were stacked up at the desk on Deck 3. (maybe the Suite received them delivered)

It was unusual, that there were many cameras, and guards at the exits for the Photo Gallery. Maybe there have been problems there recently. . .

There was a video playing (looped) on a split screen on Channel 11 (Channel Guide) that was a documentary of sorts, with Joe Farcus (Carnival Design Architect ) about how he designed Carnival Victory. . .

He discussed how all of the Public Room were names of great Oceans, and Seas.

There have been many questions on Cruise Critic about the programming on Carnival Ships. . . . Here is the Lineup:

11 CHANNEL GUIDE

13 LIDO DECK CAMERA

14 MAP CHANNEL

15 FUN SHIP FILM TOURS DVD

16 ACTIVITIES CHANNEL

The Carnival Victory has a lineup for the Carnival Seaside Theatre as well.

Morning- Headline News (8:30AM)

Mid Day Concert Video (Changes Daily)

Early Evening - Movie (Changes Daily )

There are a lot of sales today in the Shops at Sea today, and a lot of Bingo, The Casino was very busy even at 12Noon. . .

I forgot to mention that the Coffee that they have at the 2 Coffee Kiosks (Café Mediterranean, and Coral Café) is very good.

The prices are reasonable too (Tall $1.50,Grande $1.95)

I will try to post again tonight. . .

Here are a few pics from this morning.

Hello Radio:

Now that is one of the best live threads I've ever read. :D

I especially loved all the pictures you gave us along with alot of info through out your cruise. One question, is Carnival starting the type of debarkation by deck you mentioned with all ships and how does it work with those that are Platinum or on Self-Assist?

Thanks,

Cassandra

Hi Radio,

I love your "Live from...." threads!! :D The 1st one I read was from when you were on the Westerdam. I'm sailing on the Eurodam for my 1st HAL cruise in December so that thread was great!! :D I'm also enjoying this one as I'm sailing on the Victory on the exact same itinerary on August 23rd. I can't wait!!:D Just a couple of quick questions. First, where is the Maritime Museam of the Atlantic is relation to where the ship docks in Halifax? I'd love to see the Titanic displays. Also, is there a Canadian Naval Ship docked there that you can go aboard and explore and if so, do you know what her name is? All I know is that it starts with "HMCS" (Her Majesty's Canadian Ship). As a Canadian, I love to see peices of our Military history!! :D Also, in Saint John, do you know the times of the tides? I would love to see the tide come in at the Bay of Fundy and the Reversing Falls!!

Second, can you post your video of your warm welcome into Halifax harbour somewhere? I'd love to see it!! :D

I'm looking forward to your next "Live from" thread as I'm sailing with my Mom and Aunt (who will be on her 1st cruise) on the Miracle in May 2009. We're going from NYC with 2 sea days, San Juan, St. Thomas and Tortola and then another 2 sea days!! I can't wait!! :D

I hope you have a great last night on the Victory!!!!

Avril - There are two ships docked near the museum. The Acadia is a 1913 hydrographic survey ship; when we were there in 2004, the admission was included with the museum entry fee. HMCS Sackville is a Royal Canadian Navy corvette from 1941; when we were there, admission was separate from the museum, but she is close to the Acadia.
