All Things Fascination

For Snacks, you get what you see in the pictures, a veggie tray, a fruit tray (it was full I took the picture later) a tray of oranges and a 1 pound bag of fritos. In the refrigerator there was salsa, sour cream, blue cheese dip and guacomole. You get 2 soda's per person (they ask you what you want when you book it) They provide "stuff" for up to 4 people. I'm sure that you could get additional food for a charge, I'm not sure what the maximum capacity is. Nobody ever took attendance, I'm sure others could stop by without an issue

They do have a "Grand Cabana" that's designed for larger groups. I don't have the cost but I'm sure it's way more. It has a hot tub, water slides and more

Thanks!! On this trip we've got my dad (who probably won't get off the ship unless he has AC; he didn't the last time), my mom and step-dad, aunt and uncle who are all over 55, and I thought this might be a good idea for them. Then, of course, the little ones might want to relax a bit.

Just curious, but in the pictures of the cabana, there is a pavilion of some type in the backgroud. What is that? I've seen maps of HMC and wondered how far is actually is to the food pavilion/restrooms and such; have never actually seen a picture with one of them in it. Also, when you were there, was there a tram of some sort to get to the cabana? I've heard both yes and no answers and even called Carnival and been told no. But people here on CC insist there is. Mom doesn't walk well and I'm really hoping to hear that it still exists. Thank you for your time answering questions. It really helps with the planning.

The building in the background is a restroom. they cleaned it all day long. It was a 5 minute walk to the lunch area.

There is no shuttle all the way to the cabana's but there is a hard surface walking path that runs behind them (around that rest room).

I did see a map that showed a tram going from where you come on the island to the eating area but not as far as the cabana's. I never actually saw it though. I did see some beach wheelchairs. I don't know what's involved in getting one but that could help.

A beach wheelchair would be wonderful. I'll have to check into that. Thanks for all the great info. :)

I havent read through all the pages yet, so if my question has been answered previously, I apologize. I saw that someone answered the question about how long to get to open water, Thank you, but how long will it be once we sail away to go under the bridge?

I see you found the answer on the Jacksonville thread. My first cruise on the Fascination will be in Oct. I can't wait. :)

Sailed the Fascination April 23-27. Good pool band- Tropic Thunder from Dominica. They sang in several languages.

Karaoke on the Fascination was especially good. Anyone here go to that?

Had a great cruise- like the Fantasy class ships.

When you pull away from the port building you will "do a u-turn" to head towards the bridge. To get to the Dames Point from there it will take about 10 minutes. Then it will take about 30 minutes to get to the ocean.

Does anyone have a copy of the 4-day Fascination (Freeport/Nassau) Camp Carnival Capers for 2-11 year olds?

I've searched Webshots without any success and looked through the forums.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what time they start allowing check-in/boarding?

Anyone have an timing updates on the self-debarkation timing? Trying to figure out what time I can get on and off her.

Thanks

11ish is the earliest you can park if driving... We did that and were onboard around 12:15

We got there around 11:30 in December and were on board about 20 mins later. We leave in 24 days to sail on her again and plan on showing up around 11:15.

<P>I was on the Fascination in '05 and am getting ready to go on a cruise with my mom in July!  After the first cruise, I was hooked!  Fascination was a nice ship then and I can't wait to go again.  Our rooms were nice (even though we had a cheapy room), the crew was wonderful, and we had a blast...  I say that cruising is the way to go on vacation. I'm excited to go to Nassau and HMC since my previous cruise went to Key West and Cozumel

We we went in March, we were in a suite. IMHO, self-debarkation was a mess, particularly if you were on one of the higher decks (U and the one below it). When we were escorted off the ship at 9, they had only called the first 2 decks, and people were crammed in the stairs and in the halls sitting on their bags waiting to leave.

This is the second time I have seen horrible self-debarkation issues. I have decided that I am not in that much of a hurry to get home and that breakfast in the dining room and relaxing on the Lido is a much better way to pass the time. In August, I think they are going to have to drag me off kicking and screaming!;)

I was on the 5/11 sailing. I remember Mall Cop, Dr. Dolittle, and Slumdog Millionaire. There were more, but I can't recall them.

Well my kids will be excited. They wanted to see Mall cop. I hope it will still be on by May 30th. That will give them something to do when it's time to head back to the room and get settled.:)

The Jax Port Authority has extended the contract with Carnival to keep a ship here through May 2011. It is not clear if it will be the Fascination, but at least a ship will be here. See article at
