What are we going to need CASH for...??!!!!

Hi there!

We are on Independence on 4 October.

  • We have pre-booked and paid for our excursions;
  • We will arrange the Wine & Dine once onboard (as, correct me if I'm wrong, you cant do this until boarded...?)
  • Obviously, food is taken care of, unless we wish to to go a speciality resturant.
  • We will sort out the soda package once there too.
  • We intend to pre-pay our gratuities - (not sure if I can arrange this beforehand, like, now, or do I do this onboard too??)

Realise that there will be additional gratuities for exemplary service, and we will need Euros for when in ports.

What else will we need CASH for??

Oh, one more question, if we fancy a bar of chocolate, or a bag of crisps/chips for example, I assume some of the shops onboard will sell this??!!!

Yours excitedly

Judi :D

I'd say mostly for tips. If someone goes above and beyond the prepaid gratuity amount (in my case the stateroom attendant), room service, tips for the tour guide on an excursion if you feel it so warrants it. I also gave the guys hawking drinks at the pool a tip in cash. It could have been added to the bill but I figured this way it went directly to them.

Once onboard you really don't need cash for anything ( all will be charged to your card) unless you offer tips to service personnel throughout the cruise, or if you play in the casino but I think now those charges go on your card as well... we haven't played in the casino for several years now so I'm not sure... but on the ship everything goes through your card and they will not take cash.

Is there anyway to add the gratuities onto the bill ones you have bought your cruise? I unmarked it to begin with, but is there a way to add them on again??

I don't know about before you sail, but you will be given the opportunity to have the gratuities added to your bill (instead of paying cash) once you are onboard. You will receive a flyer in your room asking if you would like them added to your Seapass account. You will then receive vouchers to hand out on the last night. :)

Tips, on the ship, for any room service. everything else can go on your credit card/seapass account.

Anything ashore that you may want to use cash for....cheap souveniers, a drink here and there....

The casino--I'd much rather have a "set" amount of cash to gamble, than include that on my credit card!

And yes, if you actually think you might need MORE food, you can buy crisps (that's so cute) or chocolate at one of the stores. They don't have a huge selection, so, you might want to bring some of your own...Maureen

Plain crisps are also free if you order them from room service, just have a dollar or euro for a tip when they deliver

Yes, you can add it now. Last cruise I forgot to mark that option and I called RCCL and they added it on for me prior to the cruise.

I like to take care of as much stuff as possible before I leave home. I have no desire to stand in Customer service lines on vacation.

Can anyone make a recommendation for a good amount of cash to bring for a seven night cruise?

Depends on how much gambling, shopping in port, etc that you plan to do. I'm not a big gambler and I don't buy much ashore, so I usually bring around $200 to cover a little gambling and tips for taxis, porters, etc.

I second that. My wife and i usually car $200 for a 7 day cruise.
