cattolica Posted November 6, 2008 #26 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Like I said earlier in this thread, Public Relations and Passenger Relations were not aware that each individual ship was not opening a dining room on embarkation day. I am going to followup with Public Relations in a week or so and find out it they actually contacted the appropriate officer(s) on the ship(s). Actually anyone can call the 1-800-PRINCESS phone number and ask to speak to Public Relations. Maybe if more people call something will actually happen. I agree it not right that they publish a Press Release and then they don't comply. Please keep in mind the embarkation dining room hours are set for 12:00 to 1:30pm so if you embark later than that you should not expect to eat in the main dining room and the buffet would be your only option. There is a large disconnect between Corporate/Fleet. :(

Putterdude Posted November 6, 2008 #28 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Has anyone had any experience with lunch in the DR on the Coral this fall on the Panama itinerary? DW has MS and does not do buffets very well.

And like I said there are many many things that each ship does on their own so it would be a daunting task to try and bring everything inline now. It is frustrating. Christapie Posted November 6, 2008 #30 Share Posted November 6, 2008 We were on the cb in september, and went to the coral dining room for lunch. We were told by two of the staff members that lunch was being served in the horizon court. We refused to accept that, and went into the dining room. There was a lovely, peaceful, quiet lunch being served in the coral dining room. We were greeted, seated, and very nicely served. It was delightful. Moral of the story: Don't listen to what you are told. Look for yourself. Enjoy your cruise. Oh I bet they loved you..... I want what I want when I want it..... coiran Posted November 6, 2008 #32 Share Posted November 6, 2008 WE tried on the Dawn recently and were flatly refused by the waiter and senior waiter, even after showing them the press release. I am going to write a letter to headquarters and ask them why the official announcement has not yet reached the ships. Ron

Ron I would have gotten both of their names and gone directly to the Matre'D and then on to the PSD!
lel5344 Posted November 6, 2008 #34 Share Posted November 6, 2008 Here is my previously posted comment about lunch on embarkation day: Went down to Deck 6 (Portofino dining room) to check about lunch. We were told (at the Deck 8 elevator) that dining was in the Horizon Court buffet only, but we knew better. We were seated immediately in the dining room, accompanied by no more than 12 or 14 other Pax. Just had a hamburger, but better than eating in the buffet (more about the buffet later). Very little hassle, and we enjoyed our first taste of Princess service.
chefim Posted November 6, 2008 #35 Share Posted November 6, 2008 We are leaving on the Emerald on Monday, and one of our roll call members is doing a B2B. She posted this morning that they had lunch in the Da Vinci dining room on embarkation with not issues. I do know, as it has said before that the hours are 12PM - 1:30PM, which could be an issue for those arriving later in the afternoon. NorcalGuy Posted November 17, 2008 #36 Share Posted November 17, 2008 Dawn Princess, November 2007 Worse yet... We were on a Back2back and got a letter delivered to our cabin inviting us to dine in the Dining room during the transit day. We were met at the door by a bus person that tried to convince us to eat in the buffet. It was only 12:15. I insisted and we were seated. Apparently they don't pay attention to onboard releases either!
novocaine Posted November 17, 2008 #37 Share Posted November 17, 2008 It seems people all kind of hate or at least dislike the buffet lunch? Is that significantly worse than lunch in the dining room? The check-in time for my cruise is after 2pm so I guess I'll have to eat in the buffet.
sunshine426 Posted November 17, 2008 #38 Share Posted November 17, 2008 My only problem with the HC on embarkation day is it is always crowded, and the stations confuse people so the line always seems to move very slowly. We have switched to Pizza by the pool!!! Then sometimes sneak in the exit and go straight to the salad bar section, no one ever seems to be at that station. We were walked to the elevator by Martin from Bulgaria (made sure to avoid him the rest of the cruise). Showed our letter and got an apology from a Maitre d' but wasn't hungry by then. Fleet policy shouldn't need an argument.
Sandytoes Posted November 17, 2008 #40 Share Posted November 17, 2008 I posted this on a different thread. Pax can enjoy lunch in one of the dining rooms on Embarkment day , only if there are no delays with disembarkation. Several months ago, I wrote to the Senior VP of Customer Service. She responded with this - "We note your comments regarding our innovative program which allows passengers to dine in the main dining room upon embarkation. We understand that certain passengers may have experienced difficulties utilizing this program. While every ship will have one dining room open from 12pm to 1:30pm on turnaround days, delays in disembarkation of the previous passengers or embarkation for new passengers may alter this schedule. Also, as peak time for embarkation is around 2pm the dining room have already closed for lunch. We suggest that these passengers dine at the Horizon Court, pizzeria, or grill on deck. We home you find this information helpful for your future cruises."
MFG Cruise Lady Posted November 17, 2008 #41 Share Posted November 17, 2008 We were on the Golden Princess Oct. 29 - Nov. 12. We had also been on the Golden in May 2008 to Alaska . We took our press release with us both times and were told that the dinning room was closed and that the buffet was open. Wrong thing to say to my husband , we showed them the press release and our cruise cards which are black and they still said NO. After somemor discission and time we were escorted to a table and had a nice lunch on the first day as we have had on all of our cruises. We never take NO for an answer. We will be on the Sapphire Princess December 13 and plan to have lunch again in the dinning room. :)
