canuk15 Posted February 7, 2009 #151 Share Posted February 7, 2009 Member blond_wf_duhhh resourcefully picks up "free souvenirs such as books, magazines, sunglasses, towels, fruit, etc., off of lounge chairs that have been unoccupied for more than 30 minutes." I can't believe this woman! I would love to catch her getting something for free from my lounge chair. I would give her a free ride over the side of the ship! I guess then we would receive a free cat fight.

Middleager Posted February 8, 2009 #154 Share Posted February 8, 2009 I believe that women can get "feminine napkins" for free. With 40 to 60% of cruise passengers being senior citizens, Carnival should offer free Vi*gra. So free Vi*gra for men, and free Wi*gra for women:D
girlsonlycruisin' Posted February 8, 2009 #155 Share Posted February 8, 2009 There were always plenty of chairs in the sun on the sun deck during our cruise. The only time it was crowded was when we were leaving port. Granted there is no pool, food or drinks there. I don't have a problem with someone who after being in the sun for 30 minutes or longer leaves their stuff on the chair for 30-40 minutes while they go eat and or get something from their room. My problem is with the people that stake out a chair at 8:00 am, go to breakfast, head ashore and go to the beach, come back onboard to eat, go take a nap in their cabin, shower, change, go back ashore to shop for alcohol to be smuggled back on the ship, come back onboard, change and go to "their" chair for 15 minutes of sun between 3:45 and 4:00 then go back to their cabin. On our recent cruise, getting lounge chair on first sea day was a problem. MANY were apparently saved. Not being afraid of a bit of confrontation, I staked out 3 together that had towels on them, but appearede unoccuppied. This was at 11:00 a.m. At 1:30, a couple of guys came up and said that we were in their chairs. We explained that we had been there for over 2 hourse; where had they been? They said "oh we don't want the chairs until 5:30 when the Super Bowl starts"! They went on to explain they put their towels on them to "save" tham around 8:00 a.m. Needless to say, we didn't budge! Ms Belvedere Posted February 8, 2009 #156 Share Posted February 8, 2009 Is this only done on certain ships/itineraries, or is it offered on most? Our last two cruises on Carnival were 7 days and there were two afternoon teas on both cruises. Your choice of teas and delicious little treats with real whipped cream. They served you at cloth covered tables in one of the nicer lounges, there was live, classical music. Very nice, watch your Capers to see when it will be, usually mid-afternoon on sea days. :) For the OP and others, we get free pens at the purser's desk to use at work and home. They had boxes of Hair Color for Men in the men's spa, and don't forget the amenities baskets in the bathrooms with sample sized packs of razors, toothpaste, dental floss, Emergen-C, lotion, shampoo, Advil. You can always ask your room steward for more if you run out; they appreciate a tip for supplying you with more. ;) Ms B

tinamichelle Posted February 8, 2009 #158 Share Posted February 8, 2009 You may (or may not) be aware of the Crown and Anchor club on RCCL. They provide coupon books to past guests at various levels. These booklets found in your cabin the 2nd trip offer things like a free 5x7 photo from the photo gallery, 1 free glass of wine or drink at a bar, 1 free Johnny Rocket meal, $5 casino chip, etc. Very very nice and one of the reasons I go RCCL. martini_guy Posted February 14, 2009 #165 Share Posted February 14, 2009 Here's the deal...when people find out about something free they usually crowd/line up for the "deal". In most cases it is not worth the time for a free sample of whatever and time is better spent doing what you really want.... Yes I've been to Sam's Club/Costco. Yeah, I was joking around with my DH the other night about getting a handful of timers at the dollar store for our upcoming cruise and to sit them on chairs and then clearing everything off after 30 minutes. Wouldn't that be funny to take down to the front desk and say would you please add these items to your lost and found box? And then walk away... oh the possibilities!!!! I think this is called "stealing."
conjr Posted February 15, 2009 #168 Share Posted February 15, 2009 I was working on my "updo" for formal night and ran out of bobby pins. I ran up to the salon asking if they had any I could purchase, but they gave me a large handful for free.

That's just plain wrong! Joke- at least from me. And I assume from the others, It was a joke. A silly. Meant to be mildly amusing. Besides- all alcohol bottles, large and small, have seals on them. The seals would be broken to do this.
tinamichelle Posted February 16, 2009 #170 Share Posted February 16, 2009 It is very difficult to determine who is making a joke of this subject in this thread, and who is serious! To those joking, ignore this. To those serious, please read as this is for you. This much I have observed with my travels. People tend to leave their morals, manners and graciousness at home with their pets and homes. I am not sure why they do it. Perhaps there isn't enough room left in the carry on? From all your fellow travelers, PLEASE bring with! Taking ANYTHING that does not belong to you (i.e. you paid for or earned in some way), is thievery. Plain and simple. No one can be your moral conscious, that is on you, but stealing is stealing, vacation or not. As far as the photos in the photo gallery, taking a photo of the photo seems simple enough. Except, as an author and artist myself, people forget this is a service AND a product. You are stealing twice. One being the time and service of the photography. Meaning, do you think they REALLY love smiling to your "don't I look cute all dressed up, with a pirate nonetheless" face? They have worked 17 hour days and now you get to steal from them! Lovely. For the deck chair pirates (taking the booty as their right), since you probably pass the Purser's desk at one point or another, why not drop it there as "lost"? Anyone who has invested hours into a book, only to loose it is a downer. Guess they better not leave it, cause people who can pay thousands for a cruise want your $6.99 book! Ahoy E Mates!
gracie65 Posted February 16, 2009 #171 Share Posted February 16, 2009 Do you know who does the Carnival ones? I wonder if the same thing could be done for them. Carnival will mail you one if you call the customer service # & request it when you get home.
Uncle Doug Posted February 16, 2009 #172 Share Posted February 16, 2009 This is not onboard but will help you when you get there. Last time we passed through the Fort Lauderdale FLL airport near the baggage claim there was a keyosk for one of those online cruise places. Stop by there and pick up a couple of the Carnival coupon books. You know the ones with the buy one get one free tournament entry. They gave us one per person just for stopping by. VikingChick Posted February 18, 2009 #173 Share Posted February 18, 2009 When you book the cruise, be sure to give your past guest number. That way they know you are a past guest. You'll also get a gold color SS card instead of the blue one. Starting from my 2nd cruise, I did get an invitation. But even if the invitation didn't come, you can go to the purser's desk to ask for one, or even if you know the time/place, just show up. The fact you have a gold SS card shows you are a past guest and they'll let you in. I am a past cruiser but my husband is not, will he be allowed to join me for the party as my guest?
