Anyone who has stayed here...can you tell me if this place has a laundry facility for the guest to use? I couldn't find anything online that stated that it did, but wanted to double check to see if anyone knows that has stayed there.

Thanks in advance

Most hotels have this facility for guests. Just leave the laundry (in the provided bag) and/or dry cleaning on the bed, together with the completed 'list', along with a small gratuity.

Actually, I was referring to a laundry room where you do your own, not pay to have someone else do it. :)

Sorry.

One is unable to understand the need, or requirement, for doing one's own laundry whilst on vacation. Never have and never will. ;)

But if doing laundry is actually deemed an integral part of a vacation, and gives you pleasure, then continue with it. Whatever floats your boat. :)

Well....the reason it "floats my boat" is because we are staying in Puerto Rico for a pre-vacation of 4 days prior to our cruise and 1 day after. Then add in the 7 days for the cruise...we will need to do laundry in order to have clean clothes. I NEVER do laundry when cruising either, and have only done it once before when I did a back to back cruise, but with the amount of days we will be gone, we won't have a choice. I'm not willing to pack almost 2 weeks of clothes (usually changing twice a day between beach time and then dinner attire) and have our luggage so weighed down that we have to pay extra or can't fit stuff we buy while cruising/vacation back in it. Then of course I have my "favorite" clothes that I would like to wear in PR AND on the ship as well...only I don't think people would appreciate it if it smelled. ;)

Through he years, we had a number of lengrhy stays at that hotel and fully enjoyed them all though it has been some time, since, unless they have addded a elrf-serve laundry r e cently the answer is no. I never saw or heard meention of a launddy. We send out our laundry, both on tthe ships and in hotels That was just our choice.

Like us, you are happy to chose.

Our choice when sailing from FL is to pack for 3/4 days prior, then up to 21 Cruse, with my dress suits being pressed or cleaned after each wear, an long with jackets and trousers, but laundry goes home in seperate suitcases. My DW packs enough clothes, mostly more than what may be required.

Kim,

El San Juan is undergoing a major refurbishment so they will hopefully add self serve laundry for those of us whose boat it floats!:D

I can't wait to read your review. We have a cruise out of SJ in April and have booked the Embassy Suites for now, but are looking at Doubletree and ESJ.

Yea, I'm a little bummed about the renovation during the time we will be there. I know the big pool is one of the items that will be closed during the time we are there. Oh well. I guess we'll have the ocean. :D

I believe we have just decided that we'll wait until we board the ship and do it then. It's going to be such a tight schedule though with so many port days. I guess I'll have to spend my only sea day doing some laundry. :)

I just went to their website and it looks like, instead of being open during renovations, it is actually closing until it re-opens sometime in the Winter... the other day, it wasn't showing that, but just the advisory about renovations and offering a special pricing...

"We are thrilled to announce that the much anticipated transformation of our iconic hotel is now under way. As virtually all areas of the hotel will be affected by the ongoing restoration, we will be closed as of August 15, 2016 in anticipation of our re-opening in the winter of 2016.

Your ongoing support is truly appreciated and we look forward to welcoming you back to witness the next chapter in the remarkable history of El San Juan Hotel and Casino."

Um...ok. I have them booked for this week.

Oh wait...August 15th, which is next Monday. We will be there from the 13-14th.

Something tells me this is gonna suck!

Be careful. Staff may already be put on leave and you have a skeleton staff for those last nights. Monarch Beach did that in SoCa when they went for renovations.

I'd eat off premises - they aren't going to be stocking up the kitchen if it's going to close.

It's really not looking promising. We ran into a guy that just arrived here at El Conquiatador today and he said he just checked out of that hotel at Isla verde and it was crap and the worse ever. He said there was so much construction and stuff laying all over the hallways and water everywhere. He said run, run really fast. Also said no one at the front desk was apologetic and they were rude. 😞 I'm going in with no (or very very low) expectations. I'm sure we will spend most of our time at the beach and away from the hotel.

If you booked with Hilton, is there a way you can call Hilton and transfer your reservations to any of their other properties?

We are already here. It's not that bad. Yes they are doing construction on the pool in the back but the other pool is still open and huge. They do have a section closed down and you use that way to get out to the beach. The place is lovely and will be nice once they redo it. The room is HUGE and the bathroom nice. It almost looks like it's been remodeled. Just need maybe updated furniture. It's all white wood and a tv screen that reminds me of a huge computer

Monitor. We are having issues with the Internet and tv.

Mitsugirly - good to hear it is not a total construction zone for you!

If you need that Internet, keep calling and asking for assistance. If it cannot be fixed in the room, ask if there is somewhere in the hotel that still has reliable Internet (like the lobby) and have the fee (if any) removed from your folio. Yes, it's a little charge if you do have one, but you shouldn't pay for what you can't use.

If you still need a laundry facility there is one two blocks down in a mall right next to the embassy suites.

Hi

We are going to stay at the Embassy Suites. What mall is this and how far from ES? Is there a CVS or Walgreens? What other stores are there?

We stayed at the Embassy Suites. There is a Pueblo Supermarket pretty close. We walked to it and bought our soft drinks there. They also had wine there. When exiting the hotel from the lobby you will head out to the street and turn to the right. Follow the road around the corner and just a short ways down there is the supermarket. It is about .2 miles each way.

There are a couple of Walgreens off the main road (isla Verde Ave). If you walk up to that road you can turn right or left. If you turn left it is about .3 miles to the Walgreens each way. If you turn right the Walgreens is about .6 miles each way. The Metropol Restaurant is near here. You know you are close when you get to the Hampton Inn.

I stayed there with my 30 something son and we liked it. We were there for 3 nights before our cruise. We happened to be there when they were redoing some of the rooms. They had a whole floor they were working on. There was no noise or disruption. In fact in made things easier for us. There were less people so shorter lines for the evening reception and breakfast.

We thought the pool was lovely. A nice tropical feeling. And we liked the fact that they had an area on the beach where you got chairs and umbrellas. No charge-well part of the resort fee almost all San Juan hotels charge. We did tip the guy who set them up for us where we wanted them.

The next time I was there it was my husband and me. We stayed at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights after the cruise. It was also nice and we had a suite. But of course Embassy Suites are all suites. Both suites were set up similar. But at the Hampton the pool wasn't as nice, neither was the evening reception or breakfast. They did not have an area at the beach. You either took your own towel or you could get chairs at the hotel. These were not loungers but those low to the ground chairs. You had to carry them the few blocks to the beach yourself. They had the same resort fee as Embassy Suites.

Eh, we never did get the internet to work and it wasn't a big deal (we got it to work on our phones, just not the computer) because we ended up hanging out at the pool until late and then walking the streets.

resmember many al eisurely, lovely b reakfast on thei deoor patio. I hope that is open an availa le for your use.

Is the casino open?

They had the "mall" open inside the hotel and yes the casino was open (we couldn't use it because we had the little one with us). The front desk was relocated to a different area. The food places/restaurants were open as well (but we went out to save money). Some of the other hotels were already closed (the one by the pool was closed 2 months ago and they were working on it). The big pool right by the hotel was open but not the lazy river one (which I already knew about). They did have one of the hallways leading to the casino and around with drywall and boards put up in the hallway as a wall, but nothing in the way, no noise or anything.

Even though we were checking out the day they were closing the hotel down until sometime in December, it was fully staffed and almost everything open still as if it was any other day. :)
