That's my question also. We cruises last November to n the Magic 8-day cruise, internet was $72 discount rate onboard for the whole week. Now according to this pricing structure it would be more. Also some have mentioned that pre-purchase price online is taxed in addition. So I'm wondering if prices have gone up in general for onboard rates?? Anybody know specifics.

An 8 day value plan was $82 when I purchased onboard the Legend on 5/8/17. That equals $10.25 per day. There is no difference between prepurchasing and purchasing onboard.

A 4 day value plan was $42 when I purchased onboard the Triumph on 2/9/17. That equals $10.50 per day. It is $1.00 cheaper if you prepurchase online($41).

A 7 day value plan that is prepurchased is $71.75. It is $0.25 cheaper than purchasing onboard($72).

Prepurchased internet isn't taxed anymore. If you purchased it before this change, call and get a refund of the taxes.

Prices have gone up 20% since last year.

Examples:

4 day value plan

2/7/16 & 8/15/16: $35

2/9/17: $42

7 day value plan

2016: $60

2017: $72

The prepurchase prices are listed per day, but you have to buy for the entire cruise. It is per device. You can share one plan, but only one person at a time can use it.

Do I have to purchase these for the whole week or can I wait until day 5 or 6 then get the remaining days?

None of the packages need to be bought for the entire voyage you can opt for the per day rates.

This option is expected to be fleet wide by mid-summer and is currently offered for the following ships: Carnival Dream, Carnival Fascination, Carnival Freedom and Carnival Vista.

Sorry, I'm still confused. Are we saying that it's cheaper to buy online or in board the ship?

It is less expensive if you get it for the entire cruise to purchase any of the plans either online through the fun shops ahead of time OR onboard on day one. If you buy it onboard anytime after day one, the prices are higher.

Online or one day one onboard: $4.25, $10.25, and $16 x the number of days of your cruise.

Once onboard and purchased anytime after day one: $5, $16, and $25 x number of days you choose to get it.

No matter when you buy, there is no tax assessed.

is that per cabin, per person, per account??

its per connection. If you pay for one plan you can only have one device on the internet at a time. you can log off of one device and log into another but you cant have more than 1 at a time unless you purchase multiple plans.
