New Design of Diamond Pin

Just turned diamond on my double TA in November. Picked up my pin from World Club office. Opened it right outside the door. Was I ever surprised. For years I have been working towards (it has actually been fun) the diamond status and receiving my diamond pin. World Club told me this was the new design and that is all they had. I am really disappointed.

I want to email Cunard to let them know how disappointed I am with the new pin. I do not know where to write. Could someone help please. I could phone, but figure someone would listen to my rant and then do nothing about it. I would phone the number used to book a cruise. I am from Canada and there is no 1-800 number for World Club.

We were given a short survey and told that we would receive a more in-depth survey when we returned home. This was booked as 2 separate cruises. Did not receive any type of survey.

Another question for Cunard.....the eastward crossing was regular, however the westward was booked as a Big Band Cruise. There was no difference in the 2 cruises. On the Thursday nights of both cruises they had a Big Band night. I thought on the Big Band cruise that there would be more Big Band music played in the Queen's Room.

Any opinions on the new style pins?

Google Christopher Elliott's website. And send him an e-mail asking for the direct contact info for whoever is the CEO of Cunard. Chris is a syndicated travel writer whose research associates maintain this info. That's the good news.

The bad news (I predict) is that all you may get is a nice note back and maybe some OBC on your next cruise. After all, I am sorry to say, it's just a pin.

There are plenty of old-style pins (all levels) available on ebay, so I am told, if one must have a matching set :D .

(I've got a mixture of old-style and new, doesn't bother me in the slightest as I don't usually ever wear one)

We have reached the heady heights of Platinum on our next cruise on QE and have no doubt it will go straight in the same place as my gold pin and all other loyalty pins given to me by cruise lines and will be in a draw never to see daylight again. That is one thing I wouldn't mind getting rid of it is only so people can show off that they are Platinum and higher than Gold they will be having pins to state you are in a suite next to wear.

Hi majortom10,

Many years ago, whilst on a QM2 Caribbean cruise, I was walking through Bridgetown Barbados and chatted briefly with three ladies who were also on a shore visit, in their case from a Royal Caribbean ship which was also in the harbour that day.

I was wearing a Cunard polo shirt with a circular red badge on it (copied I guess from an old label) that read "Cunard Line. First Class"

One of the ladies looked at the badge and then asked "Do they make you wear those in first class on Cunard?" :D .

Best wishes.

Although not to wear unless you wear a lanyard, They already have a little diamond on your onboard cruise card if your are in the Grills. Pepperrn you posted a pic if I remember.

Yes, well remembered Pennbank, in a previous thread.

Lanyards are even worse.

It's bad enough having to have one for work (actually, I refuse to have one), but having one on holiday defies belief. I keep my cruise card in my wallet. I mean, would people put their credit card round their neck on a bit of string ?

Oh yes , especially when it's plugged into a fruit machine in the Casino of a cruise ship.

Not for me though.

Maybe once you are plugged into the machine it does not let you go until it's taken all your money ?

I better not try that then ! Especially if Mrs Toad sees my bill !!

Some people must like them, as I have read how some make them into cufflinks, waiting for perhaps earrings next !

I suppose you could email UKWorld.Club@cunard.co.uk and if there is another world club department for Canada/USA ask them to redirect.

From our early days on QE2, when they gave you pins on every cruise, I had quite a collection of the round blue ones. I took some to a local jeweler and had cufflinks made for DH and earrings for me. In both cases, the pin was cut off and the disk was attached to proper findings. No way would I stick that pin through my earlobe!!!

The Cunard lion was a bit large for my taste. I really liked the one between that and the current flags. I am absolutely certain that mine has a REAL DIAMOND in it. Please don't tell me is isn't so! ;p

The "I'm really at a sales conference" look :( .

Exactly! Been there, don't need to do that again! If we could escape conferences for a while, the minute we were out the door, the lanyards got stashed in purses and pockets. On the Christmas cruise, I saw a woman who always wore two lanyards. I guess one was for her key card and one was for whatever group she was with. I saw her on a formal night. She had on a lovely gown, nice jewelry and the two lanyards.

Question for the OP, is this the little flag or have they found something that looks even cheaper?
