Restaurant in Theatre District

We live on Long Island and come to the city occasionally. We are meeting friends and we will be in NYC in October. We need to find a nice restaurant in the Theatre District....around 47th Street. Any suggestion for a restaurant to meet with another couple we met on Cruise critic!

Price range? Types of foods you/they like? How far away from 47th (and I'm guessing 7th avenue) are you willing to travel?

Beccos. The wine list is reasonable. The food is good and prices fair. They offer specials. It is owned by Lydia of Lydia's Italian Cooking show on PBS. Google for restaurant website.

In the past few months we've had good meals at Thalia, Pongrsi Thai, Kashaval Gardens, Afghan Kebab House, Ipanema. Friends like Tre Colore.

Becco and Carmine's. Both great but in totally different ways. Becco is great food. Great wine list. They also have the unlimited pasta special. Three different pastas, you never know what they'll be, for about $25. Best deal in New York as far as I'm concerned. Carmine's is more of a loosen your belt type place. Food is not a culinary masterpiece, but good and lots of it.

Don Giovanni's on W44th between 8th and 9th Ave. Great wood fired pizzas, excellent pasta. Nice cozy relaxed atmosphere.

I woild try restaurant row on 46th between 8th and 9th.loads of restaurants of various types.

There are MANY! Just walk around, pretty much all post their menus. When you find an ethnic food you like, see the menu with offerings and prices.... take note, walk a bit more then pick one.
