Hurricane Maria

Yes - it was non-refundable. However, the airline cancelled it so they are liable. It was business too.

The reason I asked, is my friend in PR had his departure flight cancelled. I received the notification, I contacted them, after talking to the supervisor she said that he would have to contact them when he can travel. The ticket is awaiting instructions. When I hear from him I will tell him he can cancel as an option. I had made the arrangements for him.

Thanks for the heads up. They were giving me no options. It's a connection for an international flight.

Thanks for the info! We are supposed to fly to SJU on 10/12 and have a room booked at Da House. IF we are still able to fly there and go on our cruise, I imagine we will have to look for alternative reservations for our hotel.

I called the Comfort Inn Condado directly tonight. They answered the phone and they are up and running on a generator. They think we should be OK for our reservation on 10/13. You might want to grab a backup reservation there. I think they are still showing some rooms available. We are on Adventure 10/14 as well. Good luck!

Also on 10/14. Our 10/13 booking at Hyatt was cancelled. After seeing on the tourism post that they were open but not taking new reservations until 10/15, I called Hyatt. They did not understand why they would say that because all four hyatts are closed until 10/15 and not taking any reservations

Da House is one of our favorite hotels. We're really hoping they made it through ok. The only reason we didn't book them for our upcoming trip is the lack of an elevator and DH had a heart attack in February. Our favorite room is on the 4th floor and I didn't want to chance it.

We're booked at Hotel Casablanca on 10/26-10/28 as we're on the 10/28 sailing of AOS. I haven't been able to reach them by phone or email. I did make a back-up reservation at Embassy Suites just in case.

Suggestion - it would be most helpful if Royal could provide a list of hotels in San Juan that it has confirmed are open and taking reservations for its sailings over the next few weeks...perhaps with the daily hurricane update?

We are sailing on AOS 10/21. I have a reservation at Courtyard Marriott Miramar, but I haven't been able to find any information. I made a backup reservation for the airport hotel last night. I got a transaction confirmation last night, and then a reservation confirmation this morning. I can cancel without penalty up until 24 hours before we fly in. As soon as I can get word that the Courtyard is going to be open for business IF we are able to cruise, I'll cancel the airport hotel.

Yeah that would be helpful, IF it was accurate. They're challenged enough to keep people informed of cruise changes. Even if they tried I wouldn't expect it to be up to date or reliable.

Just because the website is still operating and showing inventory, does not mean they are actually open for business. I would call, rather than rely on a website that may not have been updated since the hurricane.

Please report back, we have used that hotel several times, and have plans to use it again in the near future.

I called and they confirmed that my reservation for October 20th is still valid and that they will be open for business.

They were so rushed that I wasn't able to check about their status as of today.

I'm glad to know that you have stayed here several times and will stay again. We are totally unfamiliar with the area, and reviews aren't always reliable.

We choose that hotel because we use Marriott points and usually get it for free. It's not on the beach or in an especially picturesque area. However, it's been very clean, has a nice restaurant and bar on the premises, walking distance to the bus stop to Old San Juan, drug store, Subway, another restaurant.

You're welcome. Also forgot to mention that it's fairly close to the pier, a short 5-10 minute taxi ride.

My family that is there has now been informed that they can not depart Puerto Rico until 10/1 at the earliest. The A/C is out at the airport, and it’s crazy crowded. A lot of people are getting bumped from inbound flights in order to fill with people who are aiding in the clean up.

Best of luck to those of you traveling.

In other news, the place we stay in Vieques (island off PR) Hix Island House weathered the storm perfectly. The bars and stores on beach, not so much :(
