New platinum gift.

I suppose they get these for very cheap or free from sponsor vendors like with the old razors they used to have in amenity baskets (emphasis used to) but it's still a nice touch.

I really doubt Carnival gets the platinum gifts for free. The toiletries are free from the vendors in hopes that you will like them and buy a larger size/quantity when you get home.

The platinum gifts are bought at a good price since so many are being bought. If Carnival got the gifts from free, then I would assume they would somehow acknowledge the supplier.

Since the platinum gifts don't have a brand name, then I think they have been bought, just like most companies buy products with their name/logo on them and give them out to their employees/customers/clients.

I go on the 13th and hope it starts by then. However, not sure where you got mid-September from, JH on FB says starting late September.

This is from the August VFFP NEWSLETTER:

Coming mid-September. Our Diamond and Platinum members will receive a Carnival logo toiletry bag. Thank you for your loyalty!

Hope they have these on the breeze in late September. Would be a nice little thing for when I'm traveling and cruising lol. One thing carnival is hitting it out of the park with lately is platinum gifts. I have a few tumblers, the beach bag is really nice and the hat is very good quality and I have worn it plenty of times in everyday activities. I suppose they get these for very cheap or free from sponsor vendors like with the old razors they used to have in amenity baskets (emphasis used to) but it's still a nice touch. Perhaps they are realizing that their most loyal customers are worthy of being taken care of so we keep coming back.

Nope-- It's $9.74 when purchased in quantity. (I can't take the credit, Sis found it.)

~$10 wholesale seems to be their target price.

That's still not a bad price for that item though. The hat is a Nike branded product and it is surprisingly nice. I'm sure they pay less when buying in bulk and it's good that they change it up every so often. I wouldn't buy any of the things if they charged for them outside of maybe the logo tumblers or coffee mugs but still a nice touch.

Most of the toiletry items are garbage now with the exception of the nasal strips if they still even have them. The razors were great but we don't really see them included anymore. I figured the hats they had for platinum gifts a few years ago might have come from nike because they had their logo and I know the tumblers were made by tervis if I'm not mistaken. But my original point stands that the platinum gifts are usually worth at least keeping and bringing home now and you generally will get something different each time unless you sail an awful lot.

Just off the Fascination...we got two more tervis tumblers to add to the 6 we already have in the cupboard. We've given enough of them (and hats) to friends and family, so we're just stockpiling at this point. I really like the new toiletry bag though! Thanks for posting, OP!

I read on CC that the mug cannot go in the microwave or dishwasher so I hope they are long gone by January 2015.

Yup. Hand wash only.

They're pretty mugs. Too bad they're difficult to use in real life.

We'll be on the Miracle in May. What's the current Platinum gift?

Heard the new gift was a travel game......checkers, chess games. Just got off ship two weeks ago and still the travel bag. The two of us have gotten 10 of them now. lol We use one for the both of us when cruising. Just thankful we can cruise as much as we do, I'll not complain.

Happy cruising!

We got this on the Magic in November. My boys used it to pack all their toys and trinkets bought in each port. They're actually pretty cool. But, I guess I'm the opposite than most, I loved the hat. We get four of each gift, as a balding male the hats sure are handy in the scorching sun.

Besides giving them away once home or to other cruisers, you folks do realize you could simply leave them in the cabin or turn them in to the service desk, right?

Why carry home things that you don't want or need? Yes, they're cheap, but why have Carnival wasting money giving you something you don't want? And wasting space in your luggage to get them home?

I'm going to try to remember to tell them to not even bring me the chocolates. I don't want them. I already over-eat when I'm on the ship!

Next cruise is another Premier Casino and I'm going to tell them that I don't want any of their "goodies" either, other than the bottle of bubbly! I'd much rather have something useful (like an OBC for the value of the gifts I don't want).

We have two of these already...they are great! We received them on one of our cruises last year. They pack well, hold lots of stuff too!

I believe these will be quite popular. I love the Tervis tumblers, both designs. I have a nice set at home.

I got the toiletries bag last October on the Splendor, I love it!! :D I've used it several times since then. Does anyone know what the gift will be on the Fantasy (or any other ship) in April/May 2016?

I wish it were the toiletry bag as we cancelled a couple of cruises when they were given. I think the toiletry bag is nicer than the game board, but I'm grateful for any gift we receive.

For the poster wanting to give up the chocolates, your wish became reality as Carnival is no longer giving out the chocolates. They are using up their supply and once it's gone, that's it. For all I know, they may be all gone by now.

There are "premium" companies that sell all sorts of gifts that can be imprinted with a company's logo that are used as give away/employee gifts. Price breaks are given for larger quantities. The quality of the items can be rather high once you are talking about tote/toiletry bags, china cups, Tervis cups, etc. Savings are realized at the higher quantities that are purchased. But the items themselves are not cheap or low quality otherwise the companies producing them could not stay in business and sell to high-end companies in many industries.

I agree, if you do not like an item, see if you can change it for something else or give it as a gift to another passenger who wants it.

It is nice to get a gift for sailing with Carnival.
