A few questions about Celebrity Constellation

Hello,

We are newbies to Celebrity and will be taking an 11-day Adriatic/Mediterranean cruise in September. We've taken two previous cruises with a large family group to Hawaii and Alaska, this cruise will only be DH and me. My first question concerns dining and shows. What is a good time to schedule dinner if you're interested in taking in an evening show? With just the two of us, would it be better to have an appointed time or come to the MDR without reservations and take our chances. We are extremely flexible on this matter, just looking for a little advice.

Also, we are staying in an inside room. The cruise is very port-intensive and the price was too good to pass up. What are some of the nicer public spaces on the Constellation for hanging out on sail aways and sea days?

Thanks for any and all tips! clear.png?emoji-grin-1677

It makes no difference which time you plan dinner, as the ship puts on the same show twice each night.......... early for the late diners and later for the early diners. If you take anytime dining, then you can check out the daily schedule each day and fit them into your night.

I want to add 1 thing to having a set time at a set table with the same waiters each night. There is something that makes dinner special meeting people on a cruise, we have made lifetime friends this way. The second thing is that the wait staff will know what your preferences are and will tailor the nights to you..... like your drink on the table when you get there.

Also, we are staying in an inside room. The cruise is very port-intensive and the price was too good to pass up. What are some of the nicer public spaces on the Constellation for hanging out on sail aways and sea days?

The majority of the time the show is at 7 and again at 9.

If you are booked with Select dining then you can show up when you want to eat. You can make reservations if you want. We generally make a reservation for the first night just because things are a bit chaotic on the first night.

If you have booked traditional dining you have a assigned time and a assigned table.

We are currently sailing on Constellation and doing the Adriatic cruise out of Venice. We have been to Slovenia, 3 ports in Croatia, Montenegro, and upcoming this week Naples and Sicily. The ports have been very scenic and we have truly enjoyed the itinerary. The shows have been 7 and 9 and we have done Select dining. Select dining gets crowded around 8 PM and later and it has been on the main floor (deck 4) of the main dining room. When we go to shows we do 7PM and then come back for dinner. We have waited about 15-30 mins for a table but we are a group of 8. We have dined in both Qsine and Tuscan Grill and both were very good.

Public spaces, The Ocean View Bar that is outdoors and right behind the Ocean View Cafe is a nice place for sail away. Many Roll Call groups meet there. The Constellation now has a roof top porch above the Ocean View Bar so that is another nice place for sail away. We have always enjoyed hanging out on deck 5 around Cafe al Baccio but it gets crowded. On deck 14, forward is Cosmo's Lounge or the Sky Lounge (I can never remember the name from ship to ship) but it is a great place to sit and watch the world go by on a Sea Day, unless the evil demons from Park West Gallery keep taking it over like they did on our Asia cruise last March.

As others have said, most nights the shows are at 7 and 9pm. We prefer to eat first and already have made our Select Dining reservations for 7pm each night and then we usually go to 9pm show. You can still go to Celebrity's web site and make dining reservations, no charge or you can to see the maitre' d as soon as you get on board. We are on the Sept 7 sailing and it looks like a great itinerary and hopefully the weather is great too. September in the Med and Adriatic is usually a nice time.

Hi SueZe,

Did the Adriatic cruise out of Venice last October (2016) on Connie. It's a great cruise with truly outstanding ports. You will enjoy!!

I feel that with port intensive cruises (such as on this cruise), the show schedule is a bit inconvenient. Gone are the days they do the "late" show at about 10:30 pm so it is after 2nd MDR seating.

Since the shows are now at 7 & 9 pm you have to either be eating by 7 pm (to make the "late" show) or at the show by 7 pm. IMHO, 7 pm is just too early to be in from port, enjoy sail-away, & be dressed & out for the evening.

Pick what's important to you. You can't do everything and you won't be in that "neighborhood" very often. BTW, we have been on more than a few X cruises, the shows are mostly only ok.

Have a wonderful cruise!!

Reflections lounge is a really great place for sailaways and sailing into ports. When you sail out of Venice- many people will be outside on the open deck drinking bellinis, which is fun. I've done that. The Reflections Lounge on Deck 11 (bow) is also wonderful for that bird's eye view of the city. This sail-away is not to be missed. One of the best cruise experiences.

As for meals- If you chose a set dining time, you may get in the MDR faster, have better service because you will have the same server each night, who will be aware of your likes and dislikes and that sort of thing.

Just got off the ship. Shows seemed to typically be at 7, 9, and/or 11:00. The aft deck outside the buffet was great for wake and sunset views. The rooftop terrace had comfy wicker loungers and covered spaces that were relaxing.
