B2B question

We're considering a b2b cruise but have a few questions. Do we have to pack up our own luggage and move it ourselves at the end of the first leg? We're non-suite cruisers. I know we have to leave the ship and come back on but will we be able to get into our room for the second leg right away? We already know we'll have to change rooms per our TA. Thanks for any input.

Check again with your TA - you only have to change staterooms if the one you are in for the first leg is already booked by another party for the second leg. I would have them check again as there likely would be one that would be available for both.

And no, you do not have to move yourself between staterooms. The stateroom attendants will do that for you, regardless of stateroom category. At least that is the case with RCI.

Typically, you will meet on the last day of your first leg as a group with other B2B'rs and be escorted off the ship and directly through customs and back on. A very brief and easy process that is done ahead of the next itineraries' passengers boarding process. If you remain in your same stateroom you will have continuous access to it on the embarkation day for the second leg.

Procedures vary from cruise line to cruise line for doing B2B. Indeed, from cruise to cruise, even within one cruise line.

GENERALLY, if you are remaining in the same room for the second cruise, you'll only be required to take your necessary ID off the ship to check in again for the next cruise.

If the turn around day is in a US port, you will be required to debark the ship and recheck in for the second cruise before re boarding. If any other port, you might be required to actually debark, or not.

If you are changing rooms, you generally need to pack up your stuff in your first room, but leave you bags with your room steward to be transferred to your new room. Some ships, you may only have to pack up the "small stuff" and leave hanging items on hangers, and clothes in drawers. And the staff will just switch out the drawers/move hanging items to the new room.

It will vary by cruise line & turnaround port

We got our new S & S card the day before the end of the 1st cruise

in the morning we went though the immigration procedure then into the terminal to reboard ..we had to wait about 1 hr while the ship's crew were cleared etc..

We had the same cabin but if you have to move usually the crew will take the hanging garments on a rack... just pack the smalls

they will give you instructions the day or so before

enjoy

Good points. It would be helpful to understand what cruise line and itinerary the OP is considering. I was referring to that which occurs on RCI US based itineraries.

It's on Celebrity with Ft Lauderdale as home port. Both legs leave and return to that port.

The information I posted in my first post (#2) should apply as Celebrity is part of the RCI family and I was referring to RCI.

You should have immediate access to your cabin ... If you have had to make a move usually the new cabin steward will have that cabin ready for you asap...One of the best perks is not having to change cabins. And remember even though the fire doors will be closed to new arriving passengers...you are allowed to open and go through to your cabin...This will all be explained at your meeting the day before the end of your first leg.

If you are stay in the same cabin for the second leg, all you will have to do is report to the location tell you to go.

They'll have complete instructions (where to go and what to bring) in your cabin a day or so before.

Celebrity will "mother hen" you through the whole process. :)

We have been on a few B2Bs and have another in two weeks but we will stay in the same cabin.

Once we were supposed to move the cabin next door. We spoke to Carnival and they kept us in the same cabin and moved the people who were in our old cabin to the one next to us that we were supposed to move to. So, we didn't have to move!

When we have had to change cabins we left everything in the draws, and just switched them

to our new cabin. Our steward brought the rolling thing for our hanging clothes and everything, including the drawers, were put on it. WE didn't repack, took empty suitcases with us to new cabin! We did this after we got back from checking in again.

WE have met around 10am in the atrium. Everyone is then escorted off together to customs. If you want to leave the ship you can but you cannot get back on until the new passengers do. We just stay on and switch cabins then if we have to.
