Labadee BBQ compared to Coco Cay

Recommended Posts

They are similar...but not the same. Coco Cay is less developed....Labadee has shops, zip-lines, roller coaster, cabanas for suite guests and an area for the non-suite folks....

Coco cay is a beach...several different areas....food isn't far away on either beach.

I consider this a CHEAP beach day, as the lounge chairs are there for your enjoyment...you don't HAVE to spend a dime on either beach, if you don't want to!

If you don't get off the ship, lunch will be served onboard, as well.

The OP didn't ask if the ports were the same. The question was: are the barbecues the same?

There are actually 2 or even 3 different spots to have the BBQ. The largest one was furthest from the ship, but there was another smaller one (if not 2). It was typical burgers, hot dogs, salads, etc. We weren't that impressed with it so we went back on board. Might try it on our July Allure sailing.

We've had lunch at both locations, several times and not impressed at all. The food is your average picnic type food. If you rent a cabana you will be in a different location and you have an upgraded lunch that includes steak and shrimp, and probably a few other things. We plan to go to the beach for a little while and head back to the ship for a late lunch/snack.

The food is pretty similar on both, although not exactly the same. Labadee felt a big bigger than Coco Cay, so depending on where you go on the island, the buffet might be a little further, not still not a bad walk. As others mentioned, there are more food stands on Labadee.

lol Donna ... that would require someone to actually read before giving their opinion.

To the OP, they are almost identical but we found the lines longer in Labadee. If you have mobility issues, they do offer a tram that will take you there. If not, it's a short walk.

remember that all the food and drink on Coco and Lab' come from the ship.

Just as the menus on all the RC ships are the same, so is the BBQ. The differences some note are probably due to the change over time 'tween ther successive cruises.

In the last 5 years I've not seen a significant change to an RC dining room or private island menu . . . several ships and both islands have been visited.

The food itself is the same. It isn't our cup of tea--we just grab some of the fresh fruit, and then have a late lunch at Johnny Rockets on the ship.

What I find funny is that people find this food perfectly fine. But if they fed us this type of lunch everyday on the ship people would be up in arms about the decline in the quality of the food on cruise ships.

Actually the serving areas at Coco Cay have doubled as well as the tender berths to better accommodate two ship there at once.
