Beware Carnival Casinos

This was the second cruise we had taken on the Liberty out of Port Canaveral. The first cruise I broke even at the slots on the Liberty which was all I was happy and grateful to do, but something changed on the second cruise and I am now $4,500 in debt because of the Casino Practices aboard this ship. There was a large group of Premium Players Club Members on this particular cruise and I swear they did something to the machines to make up for all the free stuff these Premium Players Club received such as a free cabin, steak dinners, chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, wine, you name it. But that is not my major complaint. It is the fact that you cannot tell on the slot machines how much you have spent, plus, when you try to get the information from the Casino desk about how much you have already spent on the machines, they cannot tell you and send you down to Guest Services desk, where in turn, tell you you have to get that information from the Casino desk! Now I am in so much debt from this cruise I can't pay, and don't know what to do. It is so easy to sit and pop the machines for $10, $20, $100 at a time not knowing how much you have spent and I believe Carnival is literally fleecing the public and I want to write the Gaming Commission to launch an investigation into this hoodwinking of the Public at these Slot Machines. The machines can give you a running total of how many points you have racked up to climb their Players Club ladder, they can even keep track of your play amount to throw you a little free $10 bonus from your amount of play, but people are left blind to how much casino debt they have accumulated and now I, for one, am in very serious trouble. And, I am not the only one who lost great deals of money at this casino, nor the only one who has the exact same complaint. Several people I talked to had lost thousands, and had no idea how much they had lost. I did manage to get to the level of free drinks, which kept coming, and coming and I was even given the advice from one of the Casino workers that the best way to win is to stay at one machine and not go from machine to machine, but that only made me more in debt, waiting for the machine to at least pay back even a portion of all I had put into it. When you can't get the information you need, when you need it, and your charge account keeps getting charged, it is like sending a kid into a candy store and telling him, after he has eaten all the candy and is sick in bed dieing from all the sugar he ate that he is told after the fact, "Oh, but didn't you know you were only supposed to eat just one piece." There must be checks and balances, and if you cannot access the information you need to keep yourself in check, Carnival is the only one who will benefit and it is not fair. If anyone reading this has the same complaint please let me know. I am fat with debt and had no idea whatsoever I was eating that much Candy. My credit will be ruined for 7 years because of this one week bad experience.

Sorry you feel that way. However, there is a thing called personal responsibility. No one is forcing you to play, and you should never gamble with money you cannot afford to lose.

You should be able to keep track of what you spend yourself by the amount of cash you take in to the casino, and how many times you charge credit to play with from your onboard account.

You could have easily asked for a summary of your on board account which would have showed what you downloaded to your card while sitting at the slots. Equally you could have asked the casino for a win/loss statement. Perhaps you didn't ask for the right thing?

Agree with the poster above.. this is on you. It's called a casino.. not a bank. Just because you have won in the past does not mean you will win in the future. Hopefully your wins and losses will even out but there is no guarantee of that. The only thing certain in a casino is that the casino will make money in the long run.. where do you think that money comes from? You will get no sympathy from a group of gamblers over loosing money in a casino.

I've spent more than I cared to before in the casino but then didn't cry n say ohhhh they gave me to many drinks or didn't let me know how much I was losing lol

Everyone's responsible for themselves and there's lots of ways to see how much your spending on a daily basis. Just go to guest services n they down give you a daily printout

Bet if he was winning instead of losing he wouldn't be complaining 😆😆😆😆😜

Ummm, look at your bill? Be an adult. If your teen blew that much money in the arcade would you tell him it was ok and it's the arcades fault? Casinos have gambling..... You gambled and lost.

I was in the casino once and watched an old lady borrow a hundred dollars from her S&S account over and over...$3900 worth in the end. Finally her card rejected. She burst out crying and kept saying how could they let her spend so much money she would never be able to repay. She had 39 credit slips from the 39 times that she had to sign for each $100 all crumpled up in her hand. Like you, she blamed Carnival for doing something wrong.

There is a kiosk right outside of every casino where you can look at the charges to your sign and sail account. Each time YOU WILLINGLY reloaded your slot account using debt from your account immediately shows up on your S&S account. You can also use the interactive TV in your room to see how much debt you were accumulating each day. Or you can ask guest service for a printout of your S&S account charges. Or you can understand that you have a limited budget and have some vague idea of how much you are borrowing each time you reload your slot account. At some point, you need to bear some responsibility for your own actions.

AMZDESIGNER...try the lottery instead!! lol

So, odds of winning about the same on cruise as in Vegas hotel?

Just can't move on to another hotel if your luck runs out!

p.s. I thought Carnival was great as months after my cruise I received a cheque from Carnival for the balance on my casino card. I forgot about it and it wasn't a huge amount. Just a nice touch which will be one reason I'm back with them early next year.

First post made by this person.... Got to love it.. Where I live I know a guy from the place over there who can help you out with some money. He can pay it back and you won't mess your credit up. You know the guy

Credit is due for writing it lol

I feel like this is common sense....but I guess common sense just isn't so common anymore. However, we are going on the Freedom next month....and we are getting a great deal on the cabin as a result of our time in the casino. We enjoy the game....but it's just that....A GAME!!! Both my husband and I bring cash into the casino on day 1, get our coins and then play off of those (or more cash) the entire time. They swipe my S&S just to track time spent only. If you are worried about your self control....maybe you should preload your card with only the cash you can afford to blow and not use your credit card? Just a thought....but blaming the Line for your loss is just ridiculous. You need to own this one.

This guy named Kenny once said "you gotta know when to hold 'em....know when to fold 'em....know when to walk away...know when to run"!! 😂 Good luck! 🎲🃏💸

It's op fault they spent so much. Don't feel bad at all for them. My only complaint with carnival is that of the 4 cruises I've played I'm only now getting free drinks. They should give you free drinks when you play in the casino
