"smart casual" in MDR - Hawaii Cruise

Last winter we went on a R/T Hawaii cruise on a Celebrity ship; many of the gentlemen wore tasteful Hawaiian patterned shirts in the MDR at the evening meal. For those of you who have taken this cruise on HAL, is this also acceptable? My husband has several of these shirts & would like to take them if they fall under the "smart casual" definition on this particular itinerary.

They are just fine with slacks but not on a formal night.:)

Yes, many men will be wearing tasteful Hawaiian shirts. Men wearing nice shorts on smart casual evenings are most likely to be sent back to put on nice slacks before being seated in the MDR.

And the ladies can wear Hawaiian shirts, too, but often wear Hawaiian-style dresses and sometimes leis!

It's a great time to wear your Hawaiian shirts but as Solocandian mentioned, just not on formal nights.

Depends on if you have the right jacket and tie to wear with the shirt.:D

I will be packing 3 Hawaiian shirts for our up coming Hawaii/south pacific cruise on the Statendam. They are light weight and don't wrinkle so great for packing.:)
