  1. A Jager a day, keeps the doctor at bay.
  2. You have the option of turning it off. It is one of the many switches by the bed. Just ask your room attendant.
  3. This particular cruise includes international business - no upgrade required. It is doing the Kimberly Coast from Perth (Fremantle) to Darwin. That is why I was thinking that first class domestic wouldn't be automatic.
  4. Thank you everybody! Great information.
  5. 1) The particular cruise I booked comes with international business class. At what point can I request an upgrade to domestic first class on US segments? 2) My husband and I like to have at least 2 1/2 hours connection at large airports and international airports. When our flights are assigned, if we are uncomfortable with the connections, am I allowed to ask for a re-booking? If so, to whom do I make the request? We normally book our own flights for cruises, but this particular one is different. Also, I booked through Silversea, not a TA. Thanks for any help.
  6. To clarify - that segment has all the hallmarks of an exped cruise, (i.e., zodiac tours, landings, parka & beanies, naturalists, etc. etc.). If it looks like a duck..........................it might be a penguin.
  7. I am booked on the 26 day segment from Chile to Buenos Aires in Jan 2024, and it is considered an expedition voyage.
  8. I totally agree. To go all that way and not go ashore would be a shame. There is nothing like getting up close and personal with the wildlife (as close as safely permitted - which is pretty darn close.) This is even more so if you enjoy walking/hiking. We did a Seabourn Venture (with all the stabilizer headaches) expedition last December, and will be going back this coming January.
  9. We were on the Pursuit's sister, the Venture. In rougher seas, we had to jam the closet door at night with a pillow to keep it from sliding open. I never thought about asking for door stops - I don't know how many times each day the closet door would slide shut while I was inside - and of course the light goes out every time the door closes.
  10. You did the right thing. Handling it yourself could have led to unpleasantness ................ I mean even more unpleasantness. Bon Appetit.
  11. Ohhhh - that is what that is for. Thank you.
  12. Thank you for the update. I'm sorry if my post sounded "short" - that was not my intention. I didn't know there was a thank you button or a like button. I am a Neanderthal when it comes to technology.
  13. I was hoping the original poster would let us know what is going on.
  14. You are correct - it wouldn't be the same, and yes, I really don't want to see a bunch of dead penguins. However, we cannot cancel at this point. Just wondering if we can make a little lemonade out of lemons, if South Georgia landings are cancelled.
  15. Having sailed on all three, at least several times, that would be my ranking as well.
  16. Terrible news. Since you are unable to go ashore, are you able to motor around the South Georgia Islands via the zodiacs? I'm curious - in January we are making our second attempt to get to South Georgia.
  17. Logistically, it is so much easier to be pro-active, instead of re-active.
  18. Just show up when you are ready - 12:30 to 1:00 will be fine.
  19. Even as a fan of Regent, this question is hilarious.
  20. OB means you are assigned a suite by the cruise line at a time of their choosing.
  21. Having sailed on Seabourn, Crystal (the old Crystal), Regent and Silversea. All of them have their good points and not so good points. NONE of them are perfect. If I wanted perfect, I'd stay home - oh wait a minute, that's not perfect either. But all in all, there is not one of my cruises I wished I had back for any reason. They were all enjoyable and I didn't have to make my bed, clean the bathroom, or cook.
  22. It is kind of a sad place. We were told by our local tour guide, for our safety, do not hand out money to begging children. Sure enough, one member of our group (out of the goodness of her heart) did hand out some money and she was mobbed and couldn't get away. It was actually a dangerous situation and the tour guide was finally able to wrest her away. At another place, we were on a narrow walk way, and I was literally stepping over beggars. I felt horrible, not being able to help - even went to confession when I returned home.
