Live from the Venture Iceland/Greenland
Covepointcruiser replied to PACruiser5's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
Hope the entitled complainers get off the ship before 9/4. I am not interested in folks that seem to take pleasure complaining. -

SLDS, Look at the menus in Post 85 of the Kenthecruiser thread on the Venture. They look pretty appealing. -
Water pik in the bathroom? Sonicare? Reflection

Zitsky may not be capable of brushing teeth manually. Some of the passengers traveling have numerous physical challenges. -
A Right Royal Cruise with Walking Difficulties

Very sorry our immigration and customs process was such an inconvenience. Last time I arrived at Heathrow we were subjected to a 2 1/2 hour wait as U.S. citizens. It was a nightmare but at least we sat on the floor. It certainly was not pleasant especially after an all night flight. NYC is very conscious of security and will remain so as long as there is any threat and no, you won’t know when the threat has been elevated. -
If you are going to the Faroe Islands be sure to tell you guide that you do not want to hear about their barbaric hunting method as they slaughter whales. One British lady in our group told the guide she would strangle him if he said one more word about it. They seem very proud of this hunting technique.

I can’t understand why Seabourn Square is not open!!?? We have always enjoyed all the offerings there including Coffees and any missed drink we wanted. It did close down around dinner. There is certainly an indoor venue for drinks during the day. Don’t know how anyone would have missed it as it is always a great lounge to visit to enjoy the scenery.

There is also a free laundry on board and soap is provided. There is also a steamer and an iron if your clothes get wrinkled.

Tips on how to survive the “new”Seabourn
Covepointcruiser replied to Love Sea Days's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
Hope the former Crystal cruisers enjoy their new line. I am positive they will share the same shortage of workers as all the other lines, maybe more. SS cruisers should stay with that line as they seem to think SS has none of the problems Seabourn is experiencing. We have been on three Seabourn cruises since the start up and found the service wonderful and the food as good as before the shutdown. -
At least the current passengers on the Venture are extremely happy with the exploration staff. Guess we didn’t need Iggy.

So I’ve tested positive about a week out
Covepointcruiser replied to gpnfish's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It took me 14 days to test negative but I couldn’t take Paxlovid. My husband tested negative 5 days after taking Paxlovid on the at home tests. If you are eligible get the medicine. Of course while taking it you must discontinue many potentially life saving meds for heart conditions. -
No higher than at Movie Theaters. Do the crew really want candy from you, can’t you use your OBC for additional tips so they can purchase what they need. If they want candy it’s less expensive in the crew area. I have never needed any additional snacks on the ship. Candy is available where they serve ice cream for no additional cost.

On Summit and Need To Weigh Daily
Covepointcruiser replied to pickypicky's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Remember that if you are at sea the scale won’t be accurate. You can watch while it goes up and down 5 or 10 lbs. -
We are now very excited for our 15 day cruise with 10 ports in Greenland. Hope we have the same weather as you. I questioned the lack of ropes/chains around the ancient settlement site. On the Seabourn thread many of the sites they visited had the ruins and natural sites chained off. Would you consider a longer, all inclusive expedition cruise of Greenland on a different line?
-
Actually in our boarding info they say you must be prepared to jump into the water for landings. They also say you must be able to understand and follow directions, this could be a problem for some guests. Agree that there are other expedition cruises on more basic ships that would require more physical activity. Perhaps your friends would be happier on those ships.

Guess some of this will be COVID dependent. Spending hours in close proximity to other passengers may not be a good idea if there is much COVID onboard. Guess they could ask that you wear masks but how much fun would that be?
-
Too bad about the masks for the staff. Hubby and I are just getting over COVID from 8/4 and it was no picnic with some very weird side effects. Dr. Said my smell and tell should come back in 30 days so just in time for the cruise on 9/4. I can understand anyone wanting to avoid the virus and if a crew member catches it they are out of commissions for at least 5 days. We were fully vaccinated and boosted but still caught Omicron. The staterooms look fine but how are the bathrooms, are they roomy enough and have adequate storage space?

Will Pre-board testing be scrapped?
Covepointcruiser replied to adoctor's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
What is the policy for pre board COVID testing for departures from Iceland? I see the requirements for Europe and the U.S. but nothing for Iceland. -
Have always had very good experiences with Blacklane in the U.S. Have not tried them in Europe but would not hesitate to use them in the U.S.
