  1. We avoid LHR at all costs unless London is our final destination. Consider making your connection in the US rather than Europe.
  2. If you've been ticketed, you'll see something like the following on your receipt... If you don't have a receipt, login to your United account and request one.
  3. Happy your efforts were successful! Safe and easy travels...
  4. True...however DMs on Twitter are private.
  5. For the past couple of years, for anything that I cannot do on my own in the airline's app or on its website, I contact then via a DM on Twitter. No waiting on hold, no transferring of calls...I just send a message identifying myself and explaining the issue I need resolved. Someone usually gets involved within an hour and my issue is resolved within two. I have the entire conversation in writing along with the name of the person who assisted me. If you go that route, be sure to include the following in your initial message...it will speed up the process: Record Locator Number Full names of all travellers in your group Everyone's date of birth Everyone's frequent flyer number Everyone's email address I've had excellent success DMing over the past two years with United, Delta, American, JetBlue, and Hawaiian.
  6. Yes we are... We board the Sky in Rome on October 6th for 55 days! 🙄 The total length of our cruise got a bit out of hand due to the number of FCCs from canceled bookings we needed to use...first world problem for sure. We did 55 days last fall on Celebrity Edge and enjoyed The Retreat very much. Looking forward to our first Viking cruise.
  7. You might want to check out the Splendor sailing just before the one that was canceled. We're booked on the October 4th sailing that embarks in Southampton and disembarks in Barcelona on October 19th...very interesting itinerary. Our plan is to spend a week in Barcelona and then catch a ride home on Celebrity Ascent on October 26th.
  8. I suggest the OP take a hard look at Regent. We did 32 days on Regent Splendor last winter and found this all inclusive line to be excellent.
  9. Each line listed has a future cruise originating in San Francisco.
  10. The following lines cruise out of San Francisco... Princess Oceania Carnival Cunard NCL Silversea Regent Phoenix Hapag-Lloyd
  11. Barcelona has been taxing alcoholic beverages served onboard ships while in territorial waters for a few years. I recall tax being added to the cost of drinks purchased on a Princess cruise until we cleared territorial waters. Some who embarked in Barcelona and purchased a drink package while in port experienced a rude awakening when presented with their bill.
  12. A few years ago we spent week in Sorrento after a cruise that disembarked in Civitavecchia. We took a train straight through to Naples with a stop in Rome...transferring to the Circumvesuviana for the leg to Sorrento. We found the trip very easy, but a limo has to be easier than any other method.
  13. AirTags aren't really needed. The location of my DW's devices are tracked in the Find My app on my iPhone and iPad.
  14. As a former Princess cruiser with 500+ cruise days, I can tell you we never purchased pre or post cruise hotels stays from them. You, too, can do much better by booking a hotel on your own. Rather than stay near Termini, consider one located in an area roughly bordered by Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. There will be plenty to see with walking distance and wonderful restaurants for lunch and dinner. Book a transfer to the airport with RomeCabs or another excellent transfer service for the following morning.
  15. Pre-COVID for cruises that ended at Port Everglades, both Princess and Royal Caribbean offered a service which included transfer of our luggage to our flight at the airport as well as boarding passes. Does Viking offer any such service?
  16. That's excellent news...we were hoping we'd be cruising with many of the same staff again. Most of the staff we sailed with on the Splendor seemed genuinely happy and eager to serve. Come on over to the Roll Call for the February 5th sailing...we can use some more participants.
  17. Rome2Rio shows a taxi takes just 6 minutes...Google Maps says 10 minutes. Cost is estimated at $11-$14US. In the time you have available you'll be able to see all Portofino has to offer...
  18. Your experience switching over was not unlike mine...and I did ours at the T-Mobile store. My DW's transfer from AT&T worked flawlessly; mine did not. After a number of false starts the T-Mobile rep was finally successful. Since then I have found T-Mobile's customer service to be top-notch. I know you're an Airalo fan, but I found the following of interest, you may too: Top Europe eSIM: Holafly vs Airalo. By the way, check out T-Mobile's new Dining Rewards benefit. It's fairly new.
  19. We have enjoyed Fattoria Il Poggio (shown in the linked video), twice...an excellent tasting and dining experience for sure. We have an overnight in Livorno this fall and hope to repeat the experience.
  20. Our first Regent experience was 32 days on Splendor in January and February of this year. Not knowing whether Regent would be a good fit for us, we booked a PH-1 Penthouse Suite on Oceania Vista for winter 2024 as backup to a similar 32 day booking on Grandeur. Our experience on Splendor was over the top and about half way through our cruise we pretty much had our decision for 2024 made. Still, upon returning, we compared Oceania with Regent for 2024 which confirmed our decision to cancel the Vista booking. From what we have read about Oceania, we're confident we would have enjoyed cruising on Vista, but now that we have experienced and know Regent it doesn't make sense for us to look elsewhere.
  21. Google Maps indicates travel time by car leaving at 08:00 on a Saturday to be 55 min to 1 hr 25 min. Plan on arriving at 09:30.
  22. Well, that's a surprise! I thought you were a dyed in the wool AT&T guy... Welcome to T-Mobile!! Hope your experience is a good as mine. You mentioned $100 per month for two phones. We're at $90 for two with auto-pay on our debit card. Were you offered that option? Be sure to install the T-Mobile and T-Mobile Tuesdays apps and sign up for their dining rebate program. Enjoy...
  23. No misgivings at all...but I should provide a bit of background... We switched from Verizon to AT&T in order to take advantage of the iPhone late in 2009 when AT&T entered the Vermont market by buying out a minor cell provider. For the past few years a cruise buddy has been touting the benefits of T-Mobile, but although I would have switched in a minute, I was hesitant due to T-Mobile's poor coverage here. T-Mobile has increased and upgraded their coverage to 5G here over the last year, so after I purchased my iPhone 14 Pro I took advantage of T-Mobile's Network Test Drive. During my test I didn't experience a location where coverage was less than excellent, so I went ahead and switched to T-Mobile. In 32 days cruising the Caribbean this past winter I had good coverage everywhere which was a critical test. I'm hoping for the same this fall in Europe. T-Mobile provides 5GB of high speed international data per billing period, then throttles back a bit. I don't foresee going over that limit, but if I do and am not satisfied with the speed I can always add an eSIM. If you do purchase a new iPhone, you might want to do that with AT&T. T-Mobile may pay off your new phone when you bring it over to them. Worth checking with them first though.
  24. Last fall while I was still with AT&T I did purchase an eSIM for our Med cruise. It worked quite well except in Gibraltar and the Azores. If I were still with AT&T I would likely do it again; however, I'm now with T-Mobile where one of the benefits is free international data and texts and 25 cents per minute calls. You can easily get around that fee if you use WhatsApp for calling. If you're going to purchase a new iPhone, I strongly suggest you investigate T-Mobile.
  25. Don't hold me to this as I'm no longer an AT&T Cellular customer and my old iPhone X is not eSIM capable, so it doesn't have that option. It appears you have an eSIM capable iPhone and the feature you describe may allow you to replace the physical SIM in your phone with an eSIM. After doing that you may be able to remove the physical SIM and, perhaps, install an eSIM for use while traveling internationally. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CONFIRM THE ABOVE WITH AT&T BEFORE YOU ACTIVATE "CONVERT TO eSIM." If your iPhone will accommodate an eSIM in addition to the physical SIM, there may be no need to do the conversion. My iPhone 14 Pro has no physical SIM and can support up to eight eSIMs.
