  1. CLS are great and we prefer it to our 1BR aqua suite. even thought the aqua had 4 separate distinct seating options along the 100000 sq ft balcony. and the shower is better in the aqua but being on 17 is like your own 'haven' as on NCL. super wide hallways (to get to the aqua we had to navigate 2 or 3 carts and lots many large laundry bags as well as tons of other people many times on a daily basis) we heavily used the SL and CK where when in the aqua the SL just wasnt as easily accessible. we like to lug drinks back and stock up the fridge. the wait for an elevator may be a bit longer but it's worth it to me. and just 1 flight down to pool/hot tubs. didnt go in the buffet or MDR a single time last trip. also leaving your room and being to your meal in 30 seconds is very convenient. your 2 stewards literally just hang in the hall waiting for people to leave so they can attend to your cabin. super efficient and they've always been great. for full price id never face the rear of the ship because i value quiet and privacy but for a cheap upgrade id take any view. also the 'express' elevator basically gets you first off the ship if thats important to you. i never stayed in a GS but if they are the cabins with the high tub to crawl in then i wouldnt want it at all. but i may be thinking about another cabin. if i had to think of a negative of the CLS it's the counter space. but no reason not to book it.
  2. hint if anyone goes to juniors. go on yelp and on their site they have a waiting list so by the time you get there your wait will be over 🙂 both indoor and outdoor eating there as well
  3. i wonder if people will be complaining about paying the NYC drink tax for a day on board
  4. 1.5 hours to get to manahattan. thats nuts! i guess with traffic it will take that long. at least you will get a view of the statue for yummy food i highly recommend juniors bakery for not only cheesecake but tons of great sandwiches and goulash too! ive driven 2 hours just to have dinner there. 1515 Broadway @, W 45th St, New York, NY 10036
  5. also them saying super exciting is just ....not exciting. the only good thing is coco cay. ive done that itinerary sooo many times that im flying to my first cruise next month. i mean. how exciting can over night in baltimore be? lol. if you do get off the ship go to the paper moon diner but google before you go so you know what to expect. also in florida i walked 15 min from the ship and did cocoa beach helicopters and spent 169 for a ride around the space shuttle landing runway and the general cruise area. lotta fun!
  6. 1st two oasis cruises were in CLS. the balcony with full loungers is a huge plus. not every suite on royal has that. also the balcony itself is pretty darn deep which is great! add in a pretty large dining room table and great sofa, it's a great cabin. we stayed in an aqua suite 3rd trip and while it was nice having 1 zillion sq ft of balcony, most of it was narrow but you did have 4 bar stools, 2 full loungers, full table and chair plus 2 chairs and ottoman. so it was THE best variety of seating ever. still, being away from suite lounge and preferring a smaller deeper balcony is our preference and we'd do the CLS again before doing an aqua suite. i love the novelty of 2 floors in a cruise ship (booked an edge villa on X and cant wait!) and it does feel more luxurious vs a typical one floor cabin. also 2 full bathrooms can really come in handy even with just 2 people. assuming you are able bodied for the stairs theres no reason not to book. but being close to the SL and CK is such a huge perk for us that i dont know id book any other royal suite. also if you are in a cabin crawl i recommend going to get a few plates of cookies as the guests love them. tell the 2 stewards the time of day your crawl is and they will be sure your cabin is tip top!
  7. if i had the green i think NCLs 2 bedroom villas for only 1049 are a steal! https://www.ncl.com/shore-excursions/NPIN48/Lagoon-2-Bedroom-Family-Suite-At-Silver-Cove ?destination=Bahamas+Cruises&port=NPI&priceRange=0+2000&sort=searchWeight&sortOrder=asc&perPage=12&startingRecord=12
  8. OP i think the answer is simple for me at least. maybe for you too in normal life, do you get more action or more rest. do you work 80 hours a week and sitting on a chair being waited on sound good? or you dont do much at home and you need some sort of adventure/action. i, thankfully, dont have a real stressful life nor job. i could never sit 8 hours on any pool deck ever. i need stuff to do. recently on a canada cruise on a smaller ship than oasis we had 3 ports canceled. yes 3 on a 7 day cruise. so only 2 port days. so i got to experience a TA in essence. the casino got more money out of me and i did wish i was on a bigger ship than i was on. so id say go for the biggest ship you can if you are like me and like to do things. if you do 100 surgeries a week and have 10 kids at home, you may want to stare at pool water splashing back and forth for 10 hours a day to relax 🙂
  9. for those that are daring, not necessarily in shape which i am very not in shape, you should rent a car and drive to peggys cove and spent much more time there than any bus does. you can climb up and down the rocks and get some very cool views and points of view. i spent hours there. devising methods to get up one slope of rocks and then coming to too wide of a crack then having to find another way around is fun. yes i said it. fun! just do it! then when you leave the cove drive 'the other way' (left) and you will have some very nice views of the water and how people live there. stop in the Finer Diner for some lunch. it's very very good. i always stop there. then if you have time when you get back to town just drive around and enjoy.
  10. ive been on a bus in bermuda while a moped was basically on our windshield. no way would i ever do a moped..anywhere! so if i ask him for a lunch spot i guess i shouldnt worry about it but id always feel that someone is waiting for me..or he's starving to death. i never hired a driver. nor would i do well being rich with a limo!
  11. i read many good reviews of toursplaza so was considering that. 139 for 3 hours and i assume double for 6. my gf was in cozumel over a decade ago and rented a car and drove the circle but ive just read things on trip advisor and elsewhere about situations that may be rare. but do i wanna risk them while renting a car. having to worry if im paying the right amount for gas or a cop wanting some green. this will be my 1st time there and i really havent done a lot of research but i have 7 more weeks to do so. going on liberty for the 1st time too! i admit it would be weird not driving but the appeal or not worrying seems to be worth something. id feel weird though if i went to a site and spent 1 hour there while he just stood there at the car but i guess they get paid for that.
  12. so then in theory i can pick a close car rental place and it not be close
  13. google tells me there are 3 docks. i assume international but i dont want to assume. also any opinions on renting a car, where to, or just renting out a driver for the day. not doing any all day beach stuff, prefer to explore ruins or other tourist spots
  14. one thing i love about coco is it has a pool. i dont get in pools on the ships nor go on the beach but i love the coco cay pool. NCL doesnt have one (so you have to swim next door) so if msc installs a pool ill be happy
  15. i tried looking online at multiple sites when i heard about the cancellations but i couldnt find any way to book. wondering if anyone did. but 1/3 down on the passengers means no waits for anything
  16. looking at native choice for our trip with only 2 other ships in port. just looking to do the 50 minute ride to the ruins and back. just curious about the bus ride..comfort, roads, air conditioning etc. one review said to the lagoon was bumpy dirt road but we wouldnt do the lagoon as no interest in getting in the water. also i do see when you book they ask what ship you came in on so basically everyone would be in the same boat so to speak if the ship was late and they would have to wait.
  17. 2300 refundable and 800 thru the slot machines will be refundable. will be last splurge before fixed income settles in
  18. wow that makes me feel better about my retirement cruise. ascent edge villa 24k-3K obc is 21K /2 people is 10,500 /9 days is 1166 pp per day . a STEAL compared to your number!
  19. i already booked an edge villa on ascent for a retirement cruise but then realized the luxury lines are probably the same price. looked at a few prices in general and found some of those lines mostly have much longer cruises which at this time i dont want. but i researched regent, specifically, for one ship that had a good itinerary and i saw what i could get for the price of an edge villa. but then i started reading the regent forum and reviews. and took a tour of some of the ship. i felt there was an expectation to dress up and i certainly dont want to do that. also since it's a small ship there really arent activities id be interested in. of course there are fewer restaurants and while some enjoy the 'fancier' food i dont eat that way in general at home and im sure i could find something but certainly not the variety on the ascent. maybe when im much older and just want a relaxing ship id do something like regent but i think id be bored and feel closed in with such a 'small ship'
  20. or just scrap them. even on other forums besides this one, it's constantly mentioned in the intro of so many posts and i think it's very tacky. and in the end you see 'those people' arent really treated any better and have the same problems with flights, etc. so the loyalty really doesnt even pay!
  21. i always wonder, and im too lazy to do it myself, how much all the loyalty perks would cost if there was no loyalty system. i dont own the business but my guess is the profit they make pays for the perks people get if thats true, that means everyones fare is over priced to pay for perks. kinda like your free turkey at the supermarket every november. even when you are super duper status and get a 'free cruise' do you ever wonder what your cruises would cost if you hadnt paid for that free cruise over X days of cruising. because you definitely did.
  22. ive seen vids of that shower and would love that cabin! for the price paid they really should deliver any food to you. period. even in the over the water shower! reading all this stuff i wonder in a year what perks will be taken from my edge villa..
  23. my first time on X will be my retirement cruise in an Ascent EV But i watched so many vids on the cabins that i feel i know them pretty well even without ever experiencing them. On the vids i did like the RS one floor layout as it seemed much larger than the EV that is officially larger. the dining / living room area seemed bigger and if you had more than 2 people i think the EV would feel cramped and the RS is the winner. also the bathroom of the RS seems much bigger than the EV so theres a winner there. I also feel the balcony on the RS is way too tiny for the price. But i just spent a week in an aqua suite balcony on oasis and it's hard to beat that size! and the EV has 2 full loungers vs other chairs ive seen on the RS videos and we definitely prefer the full loungers. but for 2 people the 'cool factor' of the upstairs retreat door as well as being able to use the 'secret door' outside cabin 106 to get to the lounge makes the EV a winner. As does the pool outside! Especially at the same price point. (assuming no issues with stairs of course). I found on oasis when i was further from the lounge i didnt use it as much as when i was upstairs next to it in a crown loft suite so the edge villas being right there at the retreat is a tangible perk for us!
  24. at the captains question thing they did say all their hot water is free. so much heat from the engine makes it so. so i dont feel so bad about the animals.
