  1. From Cagliari we booked a last minute ship excursion to a folk music/dancing show in a small village somewhere on the island. Long tables set out in a courtyard with drinks and snacks, and a brilliant group of around 8-10 musicians and dancers. I would really love to do it again,
  2. They brought me fresh coffee every morning in Jan/Feb 2020 as part of my continental breakfast,
  3. I think we might have been on the same cruise. It was brilliant!
  4. We did a 35 nighter Jan 2020 and couldn’t believe that we only had one small tiff - and not until week 4! The children just didn’t believe us when we told them after getting home. I think we were so relaxed and chilled that nothing could have annoyed either of us!
  5. I hope not! The afternoon tea isn’t amazing, but our arrival back on a ship would often coincide with afternoon tea in the MDR and it was nice just to sit down and having someone serve us, rather than traipsing all the way to the buffet.
  6. Not really. As said, you eat at your own pace. Also, English might not be your first language and there could be hearing difficulties too.
  7. This tray business is another reason why evening turndown is useful. I’ve only ever ordered breakfast room service so the tray is removed in the morning. If I ordered snacks later on, the tray would still be in the room and would need to be removed during turndown if the cabin was far from the buffet.
  8. Well because you don’t have to ‘dress up’! Perfectly possible to dodge the formal evenings. Not breaking the rules at all, simply avoiding the venues which require formal attire. Still look smart and dare I say it, stylish!
  9. …. If you want to visit all areas. Not necessary for the theatre and some bars.
  10. And removal of make up too. I like having fresh towels in the evening.
  11. The actual turndown of the bed is only a small part of it. For us, the important part is having fresh towels, rubbish removed and a general tidy up. Princess were still doing it in June/July.
  12. Non-urgent wait here is currently over 3 weeks which is terrible in my opinion.
  13. I always wonder whether mildly ‘rude’ adults have hidden problems. Like children, they have no filter. And having seen so many children with problems over the years, I know that these problems don’t suddenly disappear as they become adults.
  14. Oh I don’t know. The perks of the job more than make up for the lack of ‘retirement’. And in all honesty, nothing in our lives has really changed when you think about it, apart from a few names, titles and symbols. We were out and about in Porthmadog this morning, and life went on as before.
  15. I was researching flights to Iceland with a class of 11 year olds a few years ago - purely theoretical. They were working in pairs on laptops and making notes. We decided on a date quite a few months away, and within a few minutes, the prices started increasing. They were gobsmacked but we had a memorable lesson!
  16. I think our trip to Guernica was also from Bilbao one time. Highly recommended,
  17. We enjoyed the Guggenheim - interior and exterior! I seem to remember that we also visited a transporter style bridge just outside Bilbao. First time in La Rochelle we just ambled around the town. Second time, we took an excursion to Santes and a very interesting chateau.
  18. I think you’re right. We would love to sail with FO from Liverpool but the prices are too high.
  19. I climbed to the top of Cader Idris aged 19 and had terrible cramp on the way down.
  20. A second cabin was upgraded from inside to outside on Azura (I think) about 8 years ago. The children were delighted!
  21. I would also welcome a coffee voucher as I don’t like alcohol either.
  22. We were supposed to visit Casablanca on Oceana (I think) a few years ago and had to upgrade our Europe wide insurance to worldwide. As it turned out, we were unable to dock there due to the weather.
  23. I always booked excursions for my parents and our children but had to use their booking reference to do that on my computer. I couldn’t do it from my booking reference. I used to book them all straight after each other just to ensure that there were places for all 7 of us on the same excursion.
  24. Hamburg - Miniatur World. I loved that place!
