  1. We saw Andy Abraham onboard Britannia a couple of years ago. We thought he was phenomenal and enjoyed his show so much we went a second time a couple of nights later. He has a fantastic voice and is a really lovely guy. He sung some great numbers too.
  2. We are British and we have sailed from ports in the U.S as well as from Southampton and a couple of the smaller U.K. ports. We enjoy dressing for dinner every evening, particularly on the formal nights and love to see others in their glamorous attire. On the cruises we have been on from the British ports it has been noticeable that more people like to dress in formal evening wear than when we have sailed from the U.S. Each to their own … we like to dress up and we accept that not everyone does, but we always feel the formal evenings are more special and enjoy them for what they are.
  3. On Sky Princess in June the white and gold night was a piazza party in addition to the formal nights. There weren’t very many people who dressed in white and gold!!
  4. We saw Andy Abraham in The Limelight Club a couple of years ago and we thought he was phenomenal. Lovely chap with a great voice and he was singing classic songs of the genre Gardenseat mentioned above. We loved it so much we went to watch the whole show again two nights later!! The pianist was amazing too. Wouldn’t hesitate to go again.
  5. My husband and I have recently thoroughly enjoyed a fourteen night cruise onboard Sky Princess and in our opinion there is no comparison to the last P&O cruise we took onboard Britannia. We can wholeheartedly support the comments Terrierjohn and Mrs Goggins have made with regard to Princess. The royal class ships are beautiful and we were incredibly impressed. Most definitely worth a look Andy !!
  6. We are currently in a club class mini suite onboard Sky and waffle robes were hanging in the bathroom on embarkation day. We had to request slippers and although we were brought two pairs, our room steward told us they are no longer supplied as standard. FTLCruiseGal … The shampoo/conditioner is combined and in a large pump container. I brought my own as I dislike the combined products. The body wash is separate but again in a large pump container alongside the shampoo/conditioner. Bar soap is no longer provided … again I bring our own.
  7. As I mentioned in my previous post, we will be dining in The Crown Grill this evening but I have photographed the menu that is showing on the app for the Estrella dining room. This could be the actual menu for this evening or just a sample menu but either way I hope it will be helpful. Food is always a subjective issue but we can honestly say that in our opinion the quality of the food on this ship has been exceptional, the menus have been inspiring and imaginative and we are very impressed. We have also found all the staff to be amazing and we are having a wonderful time.🥂😁
  8. We are currently onboard Sky Princess, this was Friday evening’s menu in the main dining room. I didn’t photograph yesterday evenings offering and tonight we will be eating in The Crown Grill but I will try to remember to post another example this coming week.
  9. Glide … I hope this helps. We are onboard Sky Princess now and docked in Bergen this afternoon. Yesterday was our first sea day onboard and formal night last night. We are having a great time, this is a wonderful ship. Here is the “Patter” from yesterday.
  10. Correction … we were onboard SoA the same as you 🤦‍♀️!!
  11. Thank you Tothesunset, I am loving following your thread and really enjoying your humour !! We were onboard SoD last summer, it was our first Saga cruise and we were very impressed. Thank you for refreshing our memories, have a lovely holiday.
  12. Absolutely stunning …What incredible artistry. All credit to those guys.
  13. Eglesbrech … Have a safe journey down and a wonderful cruise. My husband and I will be following along and eager to read any feedback you have time to post as we will be boarding in just over four weeks time. Enjoy your holiday. Bon voyage !!🥂
  14. Selbourne As you are in Princess Grill you can head straight there for your lunch. Enjoy !! 🥂
  15. We were able to complete our Health Survey forms online this morning as we are now within the 72 hour period before boarding. This has to be completed online and submitted beforehand. This is the form and the questions asked.
  16. Yes of course. We will report back next week to let you know.
  17. We will be boarding on Monday 3rd and no test has been requested.
  18. Thank you Phil, we will definitely look forward to packing our evening gear then. As far as the dancing goes, I was thinking of a dance floor with suitable live music to enjoy dancing to. We like a good party band who are able to play most genres of music and create a lively atmosphere. As this will be our first experience with Ambassador we will be keeping an open mind but we are looking forward to it very much. Thanks again for your feedback.
  19. Thank you for the review of your cruises Phil …. Both exceptionally helpful for us as we are due to board on the 3rd April. Could you advise what you found happened on formal nights please? We are interested to know how many “dressy nights” are usual per week (ours is an 11 night cruise) and what adherence there is in general to the dress code. We like to dress up and are happy to pack our glad rags but don’t want to overload our suitcases with extra clothes that we more than likely won’t wear. Also could you comment on the live music on board at the moment and whether there are plenty of opportunities to dance. Thank you 😊 BG
  20. I have found Phase Eight to be a very useful source of nice evening wear and have at least half a dozen long evening gowns from there which I regularly take on cruises with me.
  21. Hello Linda, thank you for writing about your experience onboard Ambience … I really enjoyed reading your blog and learning about the new Ambassador cruise line. We will be cruising on Ambience for the first time next Spring and we very much enjoy live music and dancing. Please could I ask whether there is a venue or perhaps two that offer the opportunity to dance to a party band or some sort of live music? Thank you !!
  22. We are onboard QV now and the vast majority of ladies are dressed very elegantly every evening and many gentlemen are wearing jackets, some with a tie. On the formal evenings ladies are wearing smart cocktail or beautiful long evening dresses and most gentlemen are wearing a dinner suit …. the dress code is very well adhered to. My husband and I commented to one another a couple of evenings ago that most people on this cruise appear to be embracing the opportunity to dress up and are enjoying the opportunity to do so. It is very nice to see and be a part of !!
  23. 😳🤔 …. Well I was only being honest !! Actually we can’t afford PH a on Celebrity so it will have to be ….. ??? !!
  24. Thank you groryjm for your review I have really enjoyed reading your comparisons with Celebrity. My husband and I are great fans of both lines. We were also onboard QV on the Norway cruise and we were having our our first Grills experience but we were in Princess Grill. We are due to be onboard again in three weeks time but we have booked QG for that one. Our Celebrity cruises have also been in suites, mostly S1 but also on one occasion an S2. We agree with most of your comments comparing the two lines. Our personal opinion of Celebrity is that we find it to be a more modern, upbeat, slightly frivolous experience whereas Cunard have stuck with the tradition and quality which is synonymous with their name. We love the standards they uphold and the formal dress evenings. However, both Cunard and Celebrity are equally good but in different ways. My husband made a comment that I think quite appropriate which is that he would compare Celebrity to a top of the range BMW whereas Cunard would be a similar model Mercedes !! One point that hasn’t been mentioned, which makes Cunard’s Grills favourable for us, is that the Grills restaurants are open every day for lunch even when the ship is in port but Celebrity only opens Luminae at lunchtime on sea days. As we are quite often very content to spend the day on board relaxing when the ship is docked we would like to be able to take lunch in the restaurant that is dedicated to suite guests and not have to take lunch in the buffet but that is a small issue. Thank you again for taking the time to post, I’m sure many people have enjoyed reading and gleaned a lot of valuable information.
