That takes guts to argue with supervisor and refuse. Security should have stepped in. BTW I was on 2 weeks ago and the ship did a test of power off and back on and all was well sorry to hear pools closed and it is happening on almost daily basis. i am in no hurry to go back to Icon -
Captain James McDonald from Harmony
Oceansaway17 replied to sandebeach's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Sad to hear. This is third captain gone from fleet and Oasis class ships. Last year another captain died at home who had the Allure and then Capt Rick retired from Symphony. -
RCL food has gone downhill fast
Oceansaway17 replied to Bullet100's topic in Royal Caribbean International
On Icon last week the food in Windjammer was pretty good. Also had good meals in Giovanni’s and Hooked on Seafood. I was underwhelmed about the food court though. And most of the desserts were above average on Icon. Park cafe was also good -
This thread went from poop to bread. i was on Icon last week and one of the worse things were all the lousy and odd chairs. many were too low and also uncomfortable too. best part of Icon was the promenade.

LIVE from Jewel May 15, 2024 - 27 nights
Oceansaway17 replied to twangster's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Hey Twangster good to see a new thread. I am doing the Jewel in August for a 12 Artic and I can't wait. Love the Jewel class ship with atrium. I did not realize there would be a lock to go through from Amsterdam. Too bad next year AMS will have less ships as they are going out of Rotterdam. Even way less than Copenhagen. So, this is the year to do Norway and it will be my 2nd time as I did first trip on Serenade. I got off the Icon last Sat (11th) and I missed seeing Capt Loy return to ship. While I did like a lot of things about ICON, I found chairs to be odd and low to the ground. The shows were good except Effectors. Best update to ship was Promenade. And I got to meet the dog, Rover. Now that I have done the ICON, I do want to return to smaller ships and non-Caribbean ports. Look forward to following your journey but I will have to follow your Norway portion later since I will leave in early June for Barcelona to catch a10 day on Escape. She has a great itinerary which is 3 days longer than Oasis and cheaper too. bye for now. Your threads are always great. -
So back from Icon and H Loy will return May 11 Also more rotations are 12 weeks

Odyssey of the Seas vs CCL!?
Oceansaway17 replied to Crusin Karen's topic in Royal Caribbean International
This summer and next will have the Symphony of the seas in Bayonne and she is Oasis class with Aqua theater and ice show and Broadway show in theatre I think you should try Symphony as well as Odyssey. both classes of ship offer a lot and yet are different. Also you will get to go to Coco Cay the private island with the big pool just like Amber Cove only with free food too. Also Royal will not charge money for flavored tea bags in buffet. and cookies are better than CCL -

Live: Apr 20, 2024 Summit 14 Night Panama Canal Westbound Cruise!
Oceansaway17 replied to mahdnc's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Yup that is why I shared my photo as we all could touch the walls -
Captain Kate on her Day 94 short You Tube showed the X Beyond passing Icon OTS and she face timed with Captain Teo and he waved back.. So, Captain Loy did not get on April 20th and not sure about 27th either. I am on this coming week and will let you know. Perhaps RCI is doing 3months like Celebrity which is 12 weeks.

Live: Apr 20, 2024 Summit 14 Night Panama Canal Westbound Cruise!
Oceansaway17 replied to mahdnc's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I enjoyed this thread, and I also watched the ship go through various locks. I love the Summit and I sailed on her in 2016 to Bermuda (with Captain Kate) out of NJ and then I sail on Summit last year from Boston up to Canada and ship stayed overnight in Quebec City. We even got to go to Bar Harbor since this year only very small boats are going. Now I am looking forward to meeting Summit again for yhe 3rd time in Vancouver to sail up to Seward. As for the PC, I went through once on small excursion with HAL after just doing Gatun Lock and they were building the new canals off to the left. Then I was lucky to sail on the NCL Bliss in 2018 for her first trip through the PC and at that time the largest cruise ship and we did the new locks. I found the older locks more interesting. Here is a photo of a small excursion through the locks and how interesting it is to be way down So, I enjoyed this thread for both PC and the Summit. Thanks for photos and I agree some of the best one are in the back of the ship. I was lucky to have perfect weather. sorry dude.. Bye have a great sail up to Canada.
