  4. Maybe prepaid shore excursions that aren't refundable? I can't think of anything else that would be a monetary loss.
  5. There is a limit on how much spending credit you can receive. You receive 1 day credit for every $300 spent. I think the spending credit is capped at the number of days of the cruise. So on a 14 day cruise you can only receive (an additional) 14 days of credit from purchases.

  8. I haven't done a ship's excursion but from what I've seen you still have to report to the lounge and wait for your tour to be called. They are given priority though.

  10. Are your bookings linked? That may help get the same boarding times.
  11. Some of that difference is that the larger cabins are handicap accessible. You can see which those are by checking the deck plans.

  13. I'm so glad you decided to continue with your travel plans. Airports aren't fun in the best of times imagine navigating them with a newly injured foot! And the ship is a much better place to heal, physically and mentally. The moral support of friends and family will also be better than going home to recover. You've got this!
  14. Wow, Girona is beautiful! Spain & Portugal were going to be our trip this coming spring but I decided to give the Norway cruise another try, so maybe 2024? I'm glad you were able to work something out to get you on the Dam ship and hopefully you'll not need it very long.
  15. Unless AMS has change a lot from our experience this spring I would say not a chance. From the time we got to the airport and through security was almost 5 hours. It was a madhouse. There were people in line with us who were on their 3rd day of trying to get on a flight because their planes left while waiting to check in and clear security. Hopefully, the situation will be better next year as we'll be there again in May.

  17. That might not be the best idea. Short cruises in spring may coincide with spring breaks which will mean more children onboard.
  18. Wow, that does not sound like fun. I know that some things don't always turn out the way they should but this just sounds like poor planning on the tour company's part. I like that you were able to find some good out of the situation though.
  19. @kazu I hope your pain becomes more bearable very soon and that you will be back to enjoying your travels quickly. Rest, ice and adult beverages are called for! The photos are fantastic. I love wood cravings and these are some excellent examples. Thanks for sharing them.
  20. Not sure why you think I was complaining, I was just trying to point out that maybe HAL knows that the free cruises generate revenue that wouldn't exists otherwise.
  21. Agreed! I was pleased to find the passengers on our Oceania cruise were much more enjoyable than some of the posters I encountered on the Oceania forum.
  22. I've read, many times, that HAL is reimbursed a percentage of the "free" cruise by CCL's casino division. I know in my case I wouldn't have considered a Caribbean cruise if I hadn't been offered a "free" cruise. My mom enjoys them so we went. We purchased Club Orange to be able to select our cabin. We purchased a wine package. Mom went on 2 excursions and had a massage.. We ate in the specialty restaurants. This is all money HAL would not have had if not for the "free" cruise they offered. I'm pretty confident HAL has run the numbers and found that these cruise bring in enough revenue to justify offering them. Perhaps you have information to share with HAL that would help them see where this is a mistake on their part.
