  1. Ahhh...good times. 😝 Well, not really, but can someone tell me what the official Oceania policy is regarding bringing on liquor?
  2. I guess I am being judgemental about people being judgemental. Lots of that on this O board, I have found.
  3. My husband was just waxing nostalgic about travellers checks the other day. I had to remind him about the hassles, and then he returned to his senses. The ATM is a blessing, imo.
  4. You know, I'm an Oceania newbie, and I'm wondering if all this "snooty" talk is typical of conversation at dinner on the ship? I sure hope not. I want to enjoy my dinner (or slice of pizza) in peace.
  5. Why are some so judgemental about another person's choices? If I choose to go on 100% cruise line tours, how does that affect anyone else? As it turns out, I have done all manner of tours, but I see no benefit to me in criticizing other people's choices. People have differing needs. What is wrong with that?
  6. My quibble is with the word "distant." It has to do with different countries, not the distance between the cities. I don't see why OP can't take a HAL cruise from San Diego to Vancouver, BC, and then get off the ship and find another cruise from Vancouver to Seattle. US to Canada. Canada to US. I don't think OP was planning to take the same ship for both legs of the trip.
  7. Distant? Sailing in and out of San Diego and stopping in Ensenada is legal.
  8. I thought they just dropped Jacques Pepin. I'm confused.
  9. Prayer? 🙂 The whole thing sounds like poor planning from the get-go. I don't remember reading if these were experienced or new cruisers.
  10. I wish it counted, but it never has for us.
  11. I hope they were doing it in the designated area. 🙂 I have never been able to get into the Audible thing, but a friend of mine tells me it's very popular.
  12. What ships do they use? Even the Odam has the same music venues.
  13. This is one of my favorite parts of dining, finding something I might be able to recreate at home.
  14. I used to have one of those. Eagle Creek. It had two wheels at the long end and a pulling handle at the other. It packed from the top just like a duffle bag. Worked great (till it was unfortunately lost in a fire.)
  15. clo, you need to get out more. 😄 That is not an unusual price for a quality bag these days.
  16. Food waste is built in to the price of the cruise (or the restaurant on land.) Frugality is not a hallmark of cruising.
  17. When I was younger and not confined to a wheelchair, I would agree with you.
  18. I have been burned on guaranteed cabins. I also don't want to gamble on waitlists. For our upcoming O cruise, we booked late and settled for a lower cabin rather than deal with uncertainty. This itinerary was the exact one we wanted at precisely the right date. I've been on R ships before, so I know what to expect. I am going to be happy with my little cabin and completely enjoy my trip. (I don't think I'll miss a butler one bit. 🙂)
  19. My husband has one of those and she picks out all his clothes for him. I haven't shopped for him in years. (She's my daughter, too.) Someday socks with sandals will become a trend among teenagers somewhere, and everyone will be wearing them. What's ugly now is the hottest thing eventually.
  20. Does OP really mean a suitcase or an actual trunk? You can get those metal trunks everywhere, the kind you might use for storage in the garage. No wheels. If it is a real trunk, you will have trouble finding a place to store it on the ship. My advice is to factor the laundering service into your budget so you can pack less and avoid fighting for a washer/dryer on the ship.
  21. In my experience, the food on the ship has been loaded on in port before the cruise. If you really want that salmon bake, I say go for it. I have never had cruise ship salmon as delicious as you get on shore.
  22. Nobody waited. We got to the ship on time.
