  1. This sounds like some typical Facebook nonsense rumoring. I agree with @rjrpar, passport is used when you board at the departure home port. After that, nobody cares, put it in the safe. This is for the Caribbean.
  2. Good idea, for all the reasons that Capt. mentions. Plus, IMO it is a tourist trap, well past its prime, but still trying to attract customers on the old reputation. I have not personally been, but this place gets consistently rave reviews on a local foodie FB page. https://www.thirdculturekitchen.com/ Also, a local favorite for Mexican. . https://elleoncito.com/
  3. About a 30-45 minute drive each way, depending on traffic. PoS is a busy city.. Approx. 2-3 hours free time at the beach. Plenty of time for lunch and some beach time. The water was quite rough on my last visit, I don't recall a lot of people swimming that day. So probably +/- 5 hours away from the ship total.
  4. No, not walkable. 8 miles, 20 minute drive, according to their website. Looks like $35 is for 5 people, so the best option would probably be to go to the cab stand and say loudly "Who wants to share a cab into town?".
  5. For the hot sauce fans: Amazon sells a 96 pack of individual varying hot sauce flavors. Easy to slip one or two in your pocket when going to the dining room or buffet. Around $20, but would make a fun gift. Side note- I am one of the 30% of Covid victims that lost taste and smell for a week or so. It came back, but changed and reduced. So hot sauce is even more important than ever in my life. 🌶️
  6. I think there is a lot to see in PP. The town square and surrounding streets are fun and scenic to explore. There are rum factory tours, cigar bars where you can roll your own, chocolate factories, a stunning fort, a cable car (or bus) up to the Christ the Redeemer statue and surrounding jungle gardens to name a few. Take some time to scroll this board for more ideas. On my first visit, I took an all day comprehensive tour, and I was glad I did. Saw a lot, but also got ideas for next visits. The people are lovely, and dedicated to offering a positive tourism experience, unlike many of the islands. They even have a special tourism Police Force, who are very visible and will assist at busy street crossings, offer directions, etc.
  7. Both ports are near the city of Puerto Plata, along the same road. Amber Cove is further out, approx 8 miles. Carnival family of ships stop here. You would pass Taino Bay going into town from AC, but not sure why you would stop, it is not open to the public. RC family of ships stop here. If you are meeting friends on another ship, have them meet you in town at the square, by the cathedral. Everybody knows where that is, and it is central.
  8. Recommend you do some research to include watching some of the many available YouTube videos. Lots of boats go out there, and there will be a variety of ladder types in and out of the water. You can see for yourself if you can find one that would suit your needs. The water is not very deep.
  9. If the couch looks / feels / smells / nasty, I just grab a nice big pool towel and use it as a slip cover.
  10. You could always plead your case on the next few K'dam Roll Calls and see if a kind soul will offer to pick one of the same style up for you while on board You would reimburse, of course, for their time, the cup, shipping, etc.
  11. Try the abovementioned cozumeldrugstore dot com. I've used them for arthritis meds for a while. Don't know it the ozempic weight loss trend has hit Mexico yet or not, but you can email and ask Bobbi if she carries it.
  12. You dock right in town, so yes.
  13. https://www.tortolapier.com/ Also town, where Pusser's is, is just a short walk.
  14. I can see all the PC sailings on the web site, and was able to book one on Tuesday. They do follow RCCL's annoying lead and call it Orlando.
  15. It might make more sense to call the hotel concierge/ front desk and ask them, rather than ask here on a cruise discussion board.
  16. Chill! This is exactly what I mean about the correcting / scolding done here. I don't care who is the captain, neither do you, but evidently some do. So what? Why Pi$$ in their cereal? Social media and marketing are evidently hot topic triggers for you. Best to ignore.
  17. Yes, I thought this was my memory as well, but hesitated to post as people here are so quick to correct. I admit I am not one who paid close attention to that webinar, but I am on the Feb 11 sailing, and recall thinking that I would not be on the sailing with both captains, which is fine by me. It's bound to get a lot of publicity.
  18. The taxi drivers are anxious to take you to Mambo, as it is much closer than the nicer, natural beaches further up the west side. A shorter trip allows them to pick up more fares.
  19. I was 21 days on her in Feb, I found the buffet to be very crowded, all meals. I started going at odd (very early) hours to avoid the frantic mobs.
  20. Looks like it's doable if they can sit on a bus for a while. Cruise Connection bus is not "the best" , but its a solution if they don't want to drive. https://www.cruiseconnection.travel/rates/ft-lauderdale-miami/
  21. I had the same thought initially, but then, do we really want to know?
  22. You don't say where you are from, but it is readily available in the US now. Go to their website for store listings.
  23. She is at Crown Bay all month, not Havensite, according to the VInow website https://www.*****/cruise/ship-schedule/
