  1. Love Captain Tasso's dry humor. I remember one announcement about Grenada in the Caribbean (Gre-NAY-da) and Grenada in Spain (Gre-NAH- da). He had recorded it as an argument between Siri and Alexa when he asked them for directions when leaving the previous port. And to pre-empt those who insist "who cares?", a happy leader makes for a happy crew, which translates to better customer service. That should matter to you.
  2. Princess, Holland America, NCL. The vinow dot com website posts the ship schedules and dock assignments
  3. Not to mention that La Romana is across and on the other end of the island from Puerto Plata.
  4. It was reported on another thread that the peeling was a known issue; they acknowledged they were using up a bad batch of cards received after the lockdown. Vendor issue, evidently, but has been rectified. Life will go on.
  5. Yep, nice pix, good info, but wrong part of the Caribbean. I asked reported it and asked the mods to move it to the Tortola board
  6. Many people seem to ask this question, so I thought I would post. Posted on a live thread this week, so it is current for this season.
  7. Agree. Quieter, less harried service, and just right below the Elite happy hour lounge - Vista, maybe(?). Super easy to grab a final cocktail to go and walk down one flight of stairs for dinner. Also, breakfast and lunch are in the Capri, so it's a nice change.
  8. Also of note, there is one main road around Cozumel. It is a straight shot on a very busy highway from the port to the beach clubs. Along with the fact that the reported cartel activity is on the mainland, not on Cozumel, the likelihood of an abduction is just about zero.
  9. I don't have a lot of interest or credibility in these YouTubers (spoken as someone who actually worked for a living, and never videoed myself doing it...) , but this was in my feed, and he breaks it down quite well. As others have said, you'll need to figure it out for your particular wants and needs.
  10. Beach Limerz is in the opposite direction of Turners, and not nearly as far. $25 to Turners sounds about right (tho you can take the city bus for $2 - 3). Last time I went to Beach Limerz it was $7 (just before Covid). Like everything else in the world, it has probably increased a bit.

  12. I am also on Rotterdam scheduled to Bonaire on a Monday (in Feb), and with another, larger ship in port with us. So, given that my sailing has the same parameters as the OP's, I now won't be surprised if we get a similar letter from the Captain on Friday night. Disappointed, but not surprised. Always good to be prepared.
  13. I have a Port Everglades app on my phone, and just checked Feb 4. It shows assignments a month out. It shows Zandaam @ T 29, New Statendaam @ T 26, and Rotterdam @ 19. T 29 is quite a distance from the others, so walking would not be an option. I have never found an error in that app, and it does make sense, as the Z is the smallest of the 3, and could make it up to and navigate around the far pier best.
  14. Following as well, I board in 30 days for 3 weeks. Thanks in advance for all the info.
  15. On Enchanted last month I received a flyer offering a very attractive price for a "taster" type service (foot, hand, scalp, that sort of thing), including "back and shoulder" massage. It was, according to the flyer, attached to my loyalty level. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be all that was advertised, but with a wonderful full body massage, instead of just my stiff shoulders. I was thinking, -"here comes an argument at check out time", but enjoyed it anyway. No price argument, no upsell, no hard product sell, and without asking, she told me I could do it all again, same price, before I went home. Therapist was Ruvy, and as @Lady Arwen says, just ask if there are going to be any specials once you are on board. Then ask again in a day or so. They really would prefer to be working rather than standing around. ETA: I have learned over the years that the key to NOT getting any product sales, is to NOT check anything off on the complaint list. Telling them you have stress, headaches, and crow's feet is only asking for them to offer to solve the issues.
  16. Did you ask the hotel if they have a shuttle that goes to the port? I’ve stayed at Wingates a few times when I was still traveling for work, and they all had a logo’d shuttle van. if they don’t go that far, they probably have a local company they recommend.
  17. Celebrity Beyond rescued a boat with 19 on board on Jan 2. Sounds like a lot of people deciding to try and live free or die in the new year.
  18. Perhaps if post to a few upcoming roll calls, someone will stop up at the salon and ask for you.
  19. https://pevvesseltraffic.broward.org/webx/# You'll need to wait a few weeks and check again, it only shows a week out. On a side note, the Rotterdam is also sailing from PE on Feb 4, so 3 HAL ships in port on the same day. The sail away cam watchers will be besides themselves with excitement!
  20. Here is the PE web page. Millennium is at T25 this week. You can confirm your exact date as you get within 2 weeks or so. T25 is the nice terminal, so I would assume they would use it any time there are no bigger or newer X ships in port. https://pevvesseltraffic.broward.org/webx/
  21. That's the exact mapping program I saw recently in the newest Princess ship's TV. I liked it because you could zoom in or out for as much or as little detail that you wanted. It was also great to check what islands we were passing.
  22. There is a decent beach right next to the pier, easily walkable. More info can be found on the St Croix page, found in the Ports of Call section. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/99-st-croix/
  23. Note that half of the landscape crew did not hesitate to gawk at the properly dressed woman...
