  1. Complete sentences are allowed. We are other travelers here, not Google
  2. We have found Iceland to mostly be WET or ROCKY, but not so much mud. We've been there 5 times and just haven't done much walking through fields where you are more likely to get mud. Roads can be muddy and I guess some attractions are thru some mud from parking lots, but it's the big puddles and the sharp rocks that we mostly had to evade as we toured and hiked Iceland. A nice grippy tread is good, too, for crossing small "ad hoc" streams that can crop up
  3. West Coast. Away from snow and closer to family we have been away from for too long
  4. Sorry to read this. I hope you get back soon, there are some great things going on on stage right now and in the near future,. We are moving soon and our opportunities to see the New York Stage are going to be cut significantly. 😞
  5. You can do short stretches or the whole thing, depending on how much time you have and your fitness level and the tides. High Tide can see part of it get wet and slippery http://cliffwalk.com/
  6. Take your bags to the Rowes Wharf Water Shuttle and buy a ticket for the shuttle to the airport for later. They will hold your bags there while you tour Boston. Then take the shuttle across the Harbor to the airport for your flight
  7. We watched and recognized most of the nominees. Of course we've seen 12 shows in NYC so far in 2022 and a handful others in late 2021. Hoping Paradise Square and Strange Loop hang around as we won't be back until Fall
  8. Definitely both a 7-11 and multiple CVSes within a short walk of your hotel.
  9. Battery Wharf is a waterfront hotel in "old" Boston, on the edge of the North End. Much closer to tourist sites and history than the Seaport hotel, which is the oldest hotel in the Seaport district, which is the newest part of the city. Jampacked with skyscrapers and lots of restaurants and a few shops.
  10. I think the required cast is too big for a cruise ship. And the story is much deeper than any cruiseline musical I've seen
  11. Northern Lights can be there year round, but you can't see them in the summer at or near the Arctic Circle due to 24 hour sun. Iceland season starts in late August and ends in late March, like you said
  12. If your luggage has wheels and you can manage a 1/4 mile walk with that luggage this is very walkable. If you can't manage that walk, I am guessing you wouldn't have asked the question in the first place.
  13. Yup. We got the NY State pass years before they had one here in Massachusetts to avoid the lines on our 3-4 annual trips to NYC. Then when they added a pass in Mass we got that one, too, so we get the "home state discounts" in both states. Just have to remember to switch transponders in Connecticut and put the other one in the lead-lined pouch so we don't get double charged.
  14. You might want to post this inquiry on the Salem board over at TripAdvisor. I've been a reader there for years and I think the experts might disagree with your thoughts
  15. Depends what you want to see. Boston has tons of history a couple miles from the port, you could walk or take transit. But if you want to see Lexington and Concord, you'll need a tour. Pretty much the same rule in every port. Some things you can do on your own, other things require a tour, be it from the cruiseline or booked on your own
  16. Masks are required and there were ushers checking during the shows we saw over Memorial Day weekend. Hamilton - first time we'd seen it in 4 years. Burr and Hamilton were understudies who weren't quite ready for the roles. Show felt a little "broader" and less subtle than in the past. Still great, just not quite as great Take Me Out - we had seen the original and thought it was better. Jesse Tyler Ferguson goes for laughs too often, we felt his character would be better played as pained as in the original. Great show, though Music Man - we usually prefer Art for Art's Sake, not Art for Commerce's Sake, but we love Sutton Foster and had never seen Hugh Jackman, so we bought the cheapest tix in the house 3+ years ago and saw this. It is entertaining. Jackman really gets into the role, Sutton was marvelous, and the songs are great. Had to compare it to Hello Dolly, the last Broadway show that was mostly about THE STAR to much of the audience, but Music Man is a much better story (Dolly is dreadful) and Jackman played the role, where Bette played BETTE The Bedwetter - we love Sara Silverman and bought the book when it came out. Very funny and very profane. Good songs, great acting, this will go to Broadway and will do well there. See it now so you can brag to your friends that you saw it in a small Off Broadway house well before they even knew it existed
  17. It's not hard to grab an EZ Pass and most states give a nice discount for using the system vs. the plate by mail billing.
  18. It will be a ZOO in Salem then. You will have to park quite a distance away but they usually have shuttle buses. Train is more convenient since you don't have to worry about parking.
  19. That is definitely true. They do "drive bys" where they point at the land and the penguins. And with the new Polar Code, fewer big ships will even be able to approach the continent
  20. Check the other Halifax threads, lots of advice there. Definitely things to do near the dock Check out the Family Cruising board here for tips about trips with kids
  21. Also depends on when sunset is. Near the Arctic Circle it doesn't get dark enough at night until very late August to see Northern Lights. For instance in Iceland, you just can't see them until mid August at the earliest, and no one does tours until September because that darkness at night in late August only lasts a couple of hours in the 'wee hours' of the night
  22. We were on a self drive vacation and drove ourselves to the base camp for the hike. They led groups of about a dozen from there to the volcano and then back in about the same order you arrived in. I don't know what any of the times were (this was in Sept 2019) so I can't guess when the bus(es) from the city arrived or left. I'd call them if I were you, or reach out on social media for whatever guarantees they can provide about making your ship
  23. Google maps tells me it is a 29 minute walk from Black Falcon Avenue to South Station, which is barely out of the seaport. It is 37 minutes to Fanueil Hall
  24. Which volcano? The one that erupted last year or the Into the Volcano Tour? The volcano that erupted last year has been dormant for many months. There is no lava spewing. There is no red flow. There is no steam. Just a desolate lava field. It's a nice hike but there really isn't much to see there. The Into the Volcano tour, also available from the city, is amazing. A 20 minute or so hike across an old lava field, then you climb up a dormant (hopefully!) volcano, then they lower you down in a window washer type rig. It's the only place in the world you can do this. Not cheap but definitely unique and worth it. I'd do that again. I wouldn't do a lava field hike to last year's attraction.
