  1. 30+ minutes depending on traffic and road conditions from Coxen Hole, longer from Mahogany Bay. Check Google maps or Mapquest for routes and distance.
  2. Are you confusing losing points? I have never had any fees charged.
  3. Thanks. That isn’t a very long maximum trip length. Are there options to extend?
  4. Is that for an annual policy? Is there a maximum trip length?
  5. Sounds like they got a good deal if they got a new card for a partially used old one! How much do they charge for a coffee card?
  6. I agree have enjoyed that pool several times. I prefer to swim in a pool to the ocean but I like to look and listen to the ocean!
  7. You had said “At Maya Key there are more things to see like the animals and they had a nice pool which Turquoise Bay did not.” I just wondered if you meant they didn’t have a “nice” pool or they didn’t “have” a pool any more. Obviously you liked the resort and your day there. I just wondered if you meant they had removed the pool right next to the lobby and restaurant. It was a very basic pool compared to Maya Key. The cabanas have been there 5+ years but are the top tier package like Coco Cay!
  8. I think they must have been in transition! I went before they even existed and went independently. The guys went fishing. i would like to go back and try the renovations. I prefer to be away from the hassle of West Bay.
  9. Turquoise Bay is now owned by Mayan Princess group. There have been a lot of “improvements” since we were there several years ago but I am not sure if they were done before or after the take-over. Were the over- the-water-cabanas there when you visited? There are certainly a lot more loungers etc than when we went and it is another location which has become predominantly a cruise line excursion.
  10. Maya Key has included lunch since it became a cruise ship excursion many years ago. Originally, when it was Fin n Flippers it was PAYG. It is super easy and convenient from the port. It is our go to place when we have young kids with us.
  11. As far as I know Allure only goes to Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel? Obviously take precautions as with travel anywhere but I don’t think you will have any serious problems with those ports - maybe if you get redirected to Falmouth or Nassau. There are a limited number of places Allure could go from Galveston. Anyway have fun and enjoy the ship.
  12. Which ports are you worried about that Allure goes to? I can understand mobility and transport being a problem.
  13. Many on the TA already had to change air and hotel arrangements. It is due to arrive next week. Looks like for June they are interporting but that wasn’t an option for TA, or even the rest of May as far as I know.
  14. This was actually the original thread but I agree they should be combined. We were supposed to be on the Rhapsody TA, which is currently en route, but cancelled when they change the homeport from Cyprus to Haifa. I wonder if they are still planning to homeport there if the situation can change that fast.
  15. Thanks for your review. As you say there aren’t many reviews for Cabana Beach but I have seen several people asking about it recently. I think some would appreciate you copying your review to an existing thread on the Cozumel board. It is a pity with the short port hours that most cruisers don’t really have time to enjoy the facilities of Chankanaab despite having to pay the access fee but I understand most choose it for quiet relaxation and snorkeling.
  16. That was the excursion we had booked (but had to cancel) on sale for $50pp so watch out for reductions. For us, at that price, including lunch and drinks it was a no-brainer. I think independent entrance is now about $26pp (you can find a $2 off coupon online) and taxi is about $13-15 for 1-4, each way. My daughter had had a similar food package with the dolphins and manatees tour a few years ago and it included a basic buffet lunch at a designated restaurant, and I think a couple of drinks. They went in a group taxi from the port and had options for return time. Easy enough to get your own taxi back if you tell the tour guide but I don’t think you will have a problem. It seemed fairly flexible as there are lots of tours going on. You were not restricted to your group, although this was a few years ago - things change!
  17. Let’s just say I bought one seat at a low price online and they were not going to allow BOGO so I cancelled the one seat. I am not that bothered about specialty dining. I have done more specialty since Covid than the previous 20 years and that is only because MTD has been such a mess.
  18. I have done day passes to Park Royal too and really enjoyed it although considerably more expensive than Del Mar. I am not sure of current pricing as a recent email to my contact bounced back but pricing does tend to be variable and seasonal. Park Royal is much bigger with more facilities and an indoor buffet for lunch, a welcome break from the heat. It has several pools. We have split the day between the beach and pool, and then larger pool on the lobby side of the road, reached by an underground tunnel. If we have wanted an AI day (especially with children) we have chosen Park Royal I think it has better value than El Cid. If we just want 2-3 hours the reduced pass to El Cid is fine but I think their AI price is high for the facilities. Unfortunately we did a land visit to Park Royal before cruising resumed and were very disappointed in quality and service compared to our previous experiences Obviously those were difficult times and I would hope the situation has improved, but would read recent reviews carefully. One word of warning be careful not to get caught up in timeshare meetings to discount your day pass or you will waste a lot of valuable time. (No timeshare hassle at Del Mar.)
  19. LOL you haven’t googled much! it was active in March! You will have to find another cruiser’s review but as I understand it there is more than one resort on the lagoon and the cruise contract may change. I am only going on what I have read as I have never wanted to do the long ride from Costa Maya but if it is sargassum season I can certainly understand the lagoon as an alternative. Fortunately we only tend to visit between November to early March.
  20. From memory, if you mean the big palapa next to multistory white building - that is the lobby of Grand Park Royal. To the left of port is El Cid which i think has a small palapa on top of a flat roof for their restaurant. Then Grand Park Royal which has big Palapa and some smaller ones on buildings on the beach. Del Mar is just beyond that next to Atlantis (the submarine dive). I think it just has a wooden pergola roof over the bar area. There are some small palapas on the other side of the inlet at Del Mar, which is the hotel beach area.
  21. Chankanaab is worthwhile for either relaxing on the (man-made) beach or walking around various attractions. Transport through the cruise line is in included group taxis and there were various return times when we went. (There are multiple tours including diving, snorkeling, dolphins, beach break etc) Some include buffet lunch which is OK but not the best - we prefer to purchase independently - there are several options. We have gone independently and met my daughter who was on dolphin excursion (with lunch). We also booked a package once that included the e lunch because it was on sale through the cruiseline and was cheaper since it included transport but we ended up having to cancel the cruise so didn’t do it. Lots of online reviews, blogs, videos that give good visuals. Playa Mia is very family oriented, predominantly waterpark and water sports. It used to have a good reputation for its fun cooking class (and maybe salsa salsa?) but I think the popular chef moved onto the culinary tours at Dolphinaris so I’m not sure how that is now.
