  1. My guess is that until their cruiseport is completed, it will continue to be a challenge.
  2. I was on the same cruise. We were off the ship in no time. We left the ship at 8:30 with our bags. Disembarkation began around 7:45. We were on the Seashore in August and the disembarkation was a disaster. So many things come into play to determine whether or not disembarkation will run smoothly.
  3. I agree with your sentiment. Looking forward to getting on the Seascape tomorrow and enjoying the wonderful hospitality in the YC. The fact that there may be a hiccup or two is expected on a new ship.
  4. I witnessed the berating of staff when on the Seashore in August at the YC Pool as well. It was over some minor mishap as well related to a drink not being mixed the right way. These idiots were sitting right next to us and my friend and I let them have it. It is all about respect and human dignity.
  5. We travelled last month with 2 16 years olds and a 15 year old. We had 3 dinners at the YC restaurant with them. We made sure that they brought a couple nice outfits for dinner but we did not ask them to over dress because we took the country club casual approach. On a our cruise, they did have a buffet several nights at the YC Pool grill from 6-7. This may have been done because of the number of children on the cruise. The kids took advantage of the buffet and also went to the Mexican restaurant.
  6. We were on the Seashore a couple weeks ago. We were in the room right next to you and we had Abi as our butler. Hands down the best butler we have ever had on MSC (6 cruises). He provided impeccable service the whole cruise. He had to the uncanny ability to show up just at the right time and seemed to come out of nowhere.
  7. Just ignore it. Our time changed 3 times before we boarded the Seashore during our August cruise in the YC. We arrive at around 11:15 and were on the ship by noon.
  8. If you are interested in trying new experiences, go for it. If you are looking for more of a cookie cutter experience that aligns with other mass market cruise lines, I would avoid it.
  9. You have to be out of the room by 8:00. You can stay in the Lounge but not sure that they want you to hanging around until 10:00.
  10. I was on the Seashore last week and thought the lobster roll hit the spot. I'm not a lobster roll expert nor from NE but I'm not surprised if afficiandos thought they were mediocre. It is why I don't eat crab cakes when outside of MD. I know that it is extremely likely to not meet my expectations because of what I can get locally.
  11. Thank you for this wonderful review. We are looking at doing a Seabourn cruise next year in Europe and the information is very helpful. I am a litte surprised by some of the questions and the concerns raised by others about the degradations in service but I take it with a grain of salt. I do not care who the cruise director or who the captain is. My concern woud be who are the bartenders. Those tend to be the people I develop long-term relationships with. I think many of the complaints are picayune but to each his/her own.
  12. I recommend Pancho's Backyard in Cozumel if you want amazing food and drink. When we go to Cozumel, we always stop there.
  13. I find this outrage very strange. These are two different concepts. MSC is not a luxury cruise line while Explora Journeys is trying make its mark in the luxury space. It is like comparing Royal to Silversea. The YC is a great concept and we enjoy it very much. However, the YC is an enclave in a large ship that can have in excess of 5000 passengers. It is great to have you own restaurant and pool but at times it can be confining to some. On a luxury cruise line, there are significantly less passengers and the staff to guest ratio can almost be 1:1. Before it went under, we sailed a couple times on Crystal. The service and experience surpassed what we received in the YC. The advantage at the end was the whole ship was a yacht club and it was more freeing to us.
