Just back from Lady Allure!
Cruise a holic replied to BecciBoo's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We had no complaints about the windjammer on the Oasis class ships. We didn't like the cafeteria style on the Adventure of the seas- felt like back to elementary school. The old ships should go to dry dock and consider stations versus a long single line. No more old ships for me. -
My DH insists we fly first class. We are working people. However, he cannot stand three in a row and it makes him enjoy our vacations so much more. No problem with finding over the seat carry on luggage space and we both like being close to the bathroom and exit. We aren't rich but this sets the tone for a great vacation for us. We also like suites, we appreciate more room and enjoy the suite so much more then a regular cabin. The suite lounges and perks also make the trips so much more special. We used to go on 4 cruises a year, but will cut the cruises down as prices are now obscene unless you are happy with an inside cabin. To each his/her own.

Zenith access to Retreat Lounge
Cruise a holic replied to TrueCruiseaholic's topic in Celebrity Cruises
That is a real problem. Today, with so many people aware of the dangers of the sun, more shade should be available, just as smoking areas are limited- so should sunny areas be limited. My DH has had multiple pre cancerous skin lesions that had to be removed and one melanoma on his nose. It required plastic surgery, but fortunately he is fine. Happened about three years ago. In addition to skin cancer, I am concerned with wrinkles. It is especially important to keep your children well protected in the sun. Wear rash guard type swim jackets. The sun can be dangerous. -
Prices for the actual cruise and packages are so inflated now. When is a sale not a sale? We either have to pay those prices or not cruise.

Best ship for entertainment ?

Grease on the Harmony was great! We will be on the symphony next summer and we enjoyed Mama Mia on another ship years ago so I look forward to seeing it again. We also enjoyed Chicago and Hairspray was the best. I think Annie may be the ICON show and like the broadway and film versions. -
First cruise - Wonder of the Seas - my thoughts
Cruise a holic replied to paulfoel's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Been on Disney- maybe less drunks- but screaming obnoxious kids running around all over the ship. Limited escape for adults- the restaurants are pretty and creative but the noise will ruin your vacation unless you also have screaming kids! Food wasn't great and service was rushed. For a relaxed cruise, try virgin voyages. -

That is a problem with Royal. We like the Oasis from NJ, but CATs is our least favorite show- so after the first Oasis cruise with CATS, no broadway show for us. -
The tornado also is on NCL when you leave the Haven!

Even without the "perks", suites are so much larger and more comfortable for a cruise. It makes time spent in the cabin so much more enjoyable even for a short while. IMO when you don't have to squeeze clothes in a tiny cabinet-and trip over each other if two or more- also a decent sized bathroom is much more comfortable. However, the butler cuts are just to make more profits for the cruise line- line eliminating cashiers in supermarkets.

Since my husband is a professor at a university, our ability to travel is limited to the school calendar- he is also on campus during most of the summer. Unfortunately we travel when families also travel. Therefore kids almost always on the ships. But we still find many less kids in the adult and suite areas. If you can sail during non peak times, would find many less kids on board. We love the Oasis class ships our favorite Royal ships. Tried old ships- they are too tired for us. We still enjoy Celebrity, and find their older ships much better then Royal's.

We are fans of Celebrity and Royal. I have noticed that on Royal, while we don't have a butler, we had constant attention for the cabin attendants. They seemed parked in our hallway all day- they did so much for us. We typically sail on the oasis class in a crown loft suite, which is next to the suite lounge, bar and restaurant. Never needed a butler- concierges were available most of the day also. When have had both great and horrible butlers on Celebrity. Some very attentive and gracious, others not available or we had to ask multiple times for the same thing. We sail in sky, celebrity and royal suites. Option to sail with other cruise lines or consider AI resorts. every industry seems to be cutting service in order to increase profits now. The supermarkets have self check outs as do the big box stores in our state. When you call many companies you get a pre recorded message and wait sometimes a hour for a human to speak to, If they can they will continue to make cuts.

Constellation veranda vs Aqua class cabin
Cruise a holic replied to georgiacat's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Having had both regular balcony and AQ, didn't realize AQ cabins were larger. Thought the same size. Not a huge fan of blu, or themal suites. For us not worth it- They had smelly atomizers in the room which we immediately asked to be removed. We do not use yoga mats. Blu, while tables for two available- they are really small tables a few inches apart from each so not at all private. We had strangers voicing their opinions when we were having private conversations. IMO not worth the additional charge. On a few ships, the cabins were poorly located also- a great gimmick. IMO better to get a well located balcony cabin, mid ship with cabins above and below. Dine with your savings in a few speciality restaurants. Enjoy your cruise. -
We loved Eden! My favorite! Fine cut #2. Enjoy

Alcohol package, wait time between drinks ?

This isn't Carnival. No rule -
Have gone on a few Disney cruises- no more- great if you have little children as they will also be screaming and running around. Found main areas very noisy. Not a restful dinner in the main dining rooms. Expensive to see people dressed in costumes- but little kiddies enjoy- Nothing really special about the cruise ships. Plus found the ships extremely expensive for a decent cabin or suite. We really enjoy RC Oasis class and will be trying the Icon next spring. Booked when they opened up bookings- but yes expensive as we like suites. Probably will stick to Oasis class and Celebrity Edge and S class ships going foward- As we enjoy adult only pools and special adult only areas.

We can agree to disagree- no comparison IMO to Luminae. The suite lounge on the Edge- even better on the Apex- and Beyond are fabulous. Also the suite deck is so worth the upgrade! So many perks for the suite guests even entry level. I think the AQ perks overall aren't worth it IMO.

Haven't sailed in Aqua class in a few years. However now the additional cost above balcony IMO not worth it- would rather get well located balcony cabin and dine nightly in Speciality restaurants. Blu ambiance better then MDR. Enjoy your cruise.
