  1. We had a sewer smell experience on the Oasis of the Seas, crown loft suite , lower level bathroom. It was never completely resolved. We did complain but it continued. I know that cabin attendant said he treated it a few times, but it never resolved. Also complained to concierge
  2. No comparison. A grand suite on the Oasis class and above, give you access to the suite lounge, deck and restaurant- That is so worth it.
  3. I strongly disagree with the OP. We sail mostly or RC- Oasis class, and Celebrity ships. NCL Was very disappointing and we sailed in the haven. The food outside of the Haven was very disappointing- even the specialty restaurants were olive garden cuisine. If you left the Haven to go to public spaces, felt like steerage. The pool was so crowded that people didn't have any chairs and were lying with towels on the floor. The layout of the ship poorly designed as they had no real theatre so people sat in the center of the ship for many events. Never again. We will stick to Royal and Celebrity. The newer the ship IMO the better.
  4. After the cruise is booked with the flight, we go to the Delta website, as we typically fly Delta, and pick our seats. Never paid a charge . I assume if you upgrade from coach to first class you pay additional- we book first class and never paid anything additional. We book our seats a day or two after we make the reservation.
  5. We just got off to oasis last weekend. Funny we booked a balcony for next summer on the symphony on the second day of the cruise. Typically we like suites but the rate was very high. But after a couple more days we decided to upgrade to a suite. The fare increaed over $500! We were stuck as we wanted the suite. I have been watching the fares as i hope with a Labor Day or nlack friday sale the fare will decrease! So i learned an important lesson! Book then research
  6. I anticipate that the Beyond will have excellent food as did the apex and edge. I would also book a couple of specialty restaurants- Eden was wonderful as was the steak house. Enjoy
  7. Nice for me for about 10 minutes on a sea day- However since the cruise ships are now so full, probably not easy to get a warm chair-
  8. Always have my hair blown at least once per cruise. Never had color or cut as I prefer my hair dresser. The blow outs have been on a scale on 1-7. Never great, sometimes horrible. Once I was so unhappy that I complained and got my money back. Most times I smile and say thank you. But they wash my hair and I typically I fix myself in my cabin/suite. The products they use have been okay. I wouldn't trust them to cut and color.
  9. Not a fan of the "perks" offered in AQ. We prefer Lumanie and really do not use the spa amenities. IMO not worth more money.
  10. we were next door- you might not experience the problem. But if you do, as one person said go to the hotel director immediately.
  11. nope- - The first time we went is was excellent- cast from chicago were their and it was fun- the second time- not good- no actors joining in- boring- we left after 1/2 hour as did most guests. They gave you some "free drinks" and snacks. Royal didn't put any effort in making it special.
  12. Unfortunately with my husbands work schedule will not work- not really interested in Virgin either Felt like Carnival or NCL.
  13. We just got off the Oasis of the Seas. While we love the Crown Loft suites, this time we noticed a sewer smell in our lower level bathroom. It was never resolved, although we did complain a few time to the cabin attendants and the concierge. The cruise was great- except for the horrible behavior and crowding by kids. We have taken August cruises out of NJ previously, but this ship seemed over capacity. We enjoyed our time in the suite areas mostly as getting an elevator to the 17th floor was crazy most times of the day. The main pool had to be drained a few times during the cruise and it was contaminated by who knows what! We never went into that pool. The service in the suite lounge, coastal kitchen and specialty restaurants was excellent. We hope that this crowding doesn't continue next year as we have booked two additional RC cruises.
  14. While chair hogs could be a problem, it always amazes me to see people walking to the pool at 11AM thinking it will be easy to find seating. If you have a problem and are a late sleeper, consider a cabana which will provide you with reserved seating.
  15. Best shore X is Mr. Sanchos beach club. You can get a Day pass, but from an outside vendor- do a search. It is wonderful- take a cab, no waiting on line for a bus.
  16. We enjoyed the rooftop grill. My only complaint is that some passengers think it is a short cut to the other side of the ship and walk through it while you are trying to have a nice dinner. They should block it off to prevent this. Ask to sit by an area away from this. It can be a little windy, but it is semi protected from the elements. We loved Eden. Our favorite restaurant on board. A wonderful varied menu to please vegans and meat eaters. Enjoy
  17. Not correct. We rent alcoves and are in swim suites. If we go inside we wear cover ups. This is daytime dress and never had an issue.
  18. We have done a side by side from Celebrity to Royal. First time took a cab. Second time celebrity let us use their bus. However the bus went first to the airport then back to drop us off at the terminal. No big deal as we had time to kill and it was free. Of course we gave the driver a nice tip. A third time, the porter took us across the parking garage with all of our luggage, then we got to the terminal It was a long walk! again, another nice tip! Recommend a taxi.
  19. We have sailed on both but many more Royal cruises. We found on NCL if you aren't sailing in the Haven, not a good cruise. The ships IMO are poorly designed. Crowds everywhere and the pool is so small for non Haven guests. People were lying on towels on the pool deck as not enough chairs or room. Food not great- even in Have. Regular cabins seemed very small. Perhaps the newer ships are better designed, but I think I will continue to sail on Celebrity and Royal.
  20. Omg. That is so cheesy. I believe since the useless rocking chairs were removed from the sky suites, you have a table. We enjoy breakfast on the balcony. However now no table cloth. No longer elegant. Miss those breakfasts
  21. We enjoyed Grease- very entertaining- People will find fault with Mamma Mia, Chicago etc. Can't please everyone- We have been on the Oasis many times and do not like cats. Didn't like it on broadway either. So many shows that Royal can do- that would entertain it's return guests. Time for a change. Fares have increased so much, surely Royal can invest in new shows every three years.
  22. That is your claustrophobia- but small confined places not for me. We enjoy breakfast on our balcony, lots of closet and drawer space and at least one large bathroom, with storage. We love our private time in our suite and while we enjoy the entire ship, love time in our suite during the day- For us, not just for sleeping. In the summer, our cruise port is about one hour and 15 minutes from our home. We also enjoy a extra day or two at different ports that we might fly into. Different strokes for different folks as they say. Enjoy your cruises.
  23. I also miss Bistro on Five. We do not eat sushi and had a tradition of eating lunch at Bistro on boarding day.
