  1. Having sailed on the Royal Princess and NCL, I highly recommend celebrity. You will love the ambiance. Food much better IMO then the others, with the exception on Royal's specilty restaurants. You do not get messages all day on the loud speaker. No smoking indoors including the Casino. Our favorite ships are the S-class and Edge class. We are elite plus celebrity members and diamond on Royal. I do not think Princess and NCL are in the same class. I found both to be very crowded with mediocre food. Only the Haven on NCL is worthwhile- We stayed in the Haven, but when we left to go to other non-haven areas felt like steerage class.
  2. you need to call. My son, his wife and three kids sailed with us on the Oasis. They had a cabin that appeared to be a modified Junior suite suitable for 5. It was a very large cabin, with a little room that had bunk beds- suitable for two kids. The true Jr. SUite has a walk in closet and these cabins have bunks in what appeared to be the walk in closet with a curtain. The couch in the room was great for another child- These cabins are only available by calling the cruise line- of course, some two bedroom suites work, but are expensive. The 5 person modified jr. suite was cost effective.
  3. Maybe you made a generous bid. Did you compare to upgrading yourself?
  4. You can purchase a try and pack and bring with you if that makes it easier. We were on the AOS a few weeks ago and they were very short staffed- but you might find somebody to help you.
  5. Some cabins that accommodate three or more guests cost more for the cabin.
  6. Unless booking suites, I wouldn't book a guarantee ever. I wouldn't want to be above or below a public area or near any public area. So you could wind up with a poorly and noisy cabin. Better to pay more and pick out exactly what you want.
  7. I agree- we love the suite amenities, especially on a newer ships. We recently sailed on another older ship and had a Jr. suite- we typically have a full suite, but family members were in balcony cabins. The ship was old, but because we were with family we stayed in a Jr. suite- I wouldn't sail on anything but an Oasis class ship- Even if in a balcony cabin. We loved being with family, but the ship was such a disappointment. My advice new ship- decent cabin even if not a suite. Helps to make the sailing more enjoyable.
  8. We are in a cls. I bid on star class. But I really love cls so I might cancel my bids
  9. Going from what type of cabin/suite to what?
  10. However, I would "assume" the upgrades go to the highest bid. Also if you are in a very desirable cabin/suite. the profit may be worth the line moving you up. If you love the cabin you are in-keep it.
  11. Honestly , all the food on the ship good but not great. Not gourmet food . We dine in sp restaurants for dinner and when available lunch. We take the unlimited dining package- but we have dined in many excellent land restaurants. Just never dined in Chefs table- that might be the exception.
  12. We sail 4 x a year- We sail in suites. If I had to choose, I would consider a balcony cabin- but I wouldn't be comfortable in an inside cabin. However, we have had central park view cabins on Royal oasis class ships, deck 9 and those work. Need the light from outside- A great compromise. If I had to shower in the spa, not have any ability to eat in cabin- No outside light I would find that depressing- part of the cruise experience, IMO is a decent cabin. I would take one less cruise if I had to.
  13. The Beach Club at cococay is wonderful. Comfortable, excellent waiter served food- We think of it as a good shore X and would pay up to $125 pp. We purchase early and have always paid (previously) under $100. Cabanas are really expensive and you don't get upgraded food unless on the water in cococay. So we wouldn't consider them anymore- used to get on Labadee but the prices have more then doubled.
  14. We were on the Adventure of the Seas in May . They had Johnny Rockets- I also recall Johnny Rockets on the Freedom of the Seas.
  15. Yes it is. Just show your card and the waitstaff will take care of it. We have had a couple of lunches in Johnny Rockets.
  16. I personally don't care, however the ship does have guidelines .
  17. My DH and I did dress for dinner- we didn't wear evening gowns or Tux's, but decent CLEAN long pants and collard shirts. I cannot understand why people have issues dealing with pants? In the evening the ships are typically cool.
  18. We were on the Adventure of the Seas end of May. The ship was mobbed. Bad experience- too many guests and too little staff. Be prepared for a mob scene.
  19. We stay in suites and like barefoot beach now. However if not in a suite, Nellies beach. But as previously stated, get their early. Clam shells are nice as the Cabanas cost are obscene- would rather upgrade our cabin. Last time in a cabana, the attendant was never around and it was very disappointing- Save your money. Maybe upgrade your cabin instead.
  20. When smoking was banned from clubs, bars and restaurants years ago, the owners complained it would negatively impact business. But it never did! Royal has to do the right thing for all guests and employees and help to prevent disease and death. Celebrities casino is always as busy as Royals.
  21. People who pay more on most cruise lines get more. If you sail on celebrity, yes you get more if you are in a sky suite or above. You will enjoy early boarding, a special dining room, lounge and deck. The suite of course is larger and therefore more comfortable and you have a butler to help arrange things for you. However the regular and discount cabin passengers have access to many amenities- Just like other lines, you get more if you pay more. You will have access to the same buffet, pools (except if on retreat deck) entertainment, and all of the amenities. Perhaps not priority. We have sailed on many cruise lines, all similar and have suite perks.
  22. Love French Martini- DH loves chocolate martini- or toasted almond.
  23. If your cruise has many sea days- package seems to work out well. However if you are off the ship most days- may not pay. We stopped ordering the packages- Now prefer the refreshment package which gives us special waters, coffees, virgin cocktails and soft drinks- we bring bottled water and cola to our cabins and take if we go off the ship. Since we are diamond members, we also get 4 free alcoholic drinks a day. More then enough for us.
  24. We never got PJ's in a royal suite on the reflecttion in March. Previous cruise on her got monogrammed bathrobes
