  1. If you aren't sure you want to eat at the same time every night, your best bet is to just sign up for YTD. If you want to eat at the same time most nights (even with the same wait staff team), you can still do that.
  2. Just be prepared that as a general rule, the guests are way more rowdy on a shorter cruise. There will be a lot of people trying to to pack 7 days worth of fun into 3.
  3. I would guess that anything with a prescription would be exempt.
  4. I have been on 2 Alaska cruises, one in late May and one in late August. I would recommend either of those times. It also avoids the peak travel season. I have heard that in the middle of summer the mosquitoes can be really bad, although I believe that might be further inland (my last trip included a land tour). I saw pictures of people wearing beekeeper's hats because the swarms of mosquitoes were that bad.
  5. Looking forward to your posts! We are doing the same trip in a few weeks (with a couple of additional days in Rome).
  6. I don't even know why they bother with unproctored tests. You could be positive and just get a friend to take the test for you.
  7. An evening gown is not required for formal night in any dining room. I You are lucky if the people seated next to you have changed out of their swimsuits.
  8. I am just glad they recently stopped dressing crew members of various ethnicities in the traditional dress of whatever island they were stopped at for photo ops. I found that pretty offensive, and I would guess the locals did as well.
  9. You can certainly ask, but you will probably be denied. From other posts on CC, they don't even make exceptions for pregnant women.
  10. Kindles are awesome. You can literally bring dozens of books with you onto the ship and it doesn't take up any more luggage room than a small notepad.
  11. They had the steakhouse brunch on a Pride Journeys last fall. It was one of the best meals I have eaten on a Carnival ship. Well worth the price.
  12. I don't have a cabin recommendation for you, but I have gotten motion sickness on smaller ships (<300 pax), I have never gotten sick on a ship the size of Sunshine If you are concerned about motion sickness on the cruise, I also recommend getting "the patch" from your doctor. It's a game changer.
  13. An unproctored test is worthless for proof. You could be positive and just bring a test your friend took for you.
  14. Yes. How else would you be able to prove you were the one who took the test?
  15. When you put a deposit down on a cabin, you are making it unavailable for Carnival to sell it to anyone else, sometimes for a year or more. If you cancel, Carnival has a much shorter time to resell it, and often, at a lower price than what you agreed to. A small cancelation fee sounds reasonable to me. If Carnival canceled your cruise, you would expect some compensation. Why shouldn't it work both ways?
  16. This. You are going to need an app like Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp if you want to text on the ship.
  17. I am pretty sure the comedians are constantly hopping from ship to ship, so even if they were on a particular one for one cruise, they might be on another ship the next.
  18. Cancel for any reason insurance is very expensive. If you are worried about illness canceling your trip, get coverage for that. Most of the major travel insurance sites have the ability to filter for the specific things you want covered.
  19. Wow. I have never heard of anyone doing that before. Exactly what diseases can you catch by having your clothes touch the insides of drawers?
  20. We have always put our dirty clothes in an empty suitcase that is under the bed. I assumed everyone else did that as well.
  21. How long is Carnival supposed to wait? They had reserved that cabin for what may have been many months, and now they have to resell it in a relatively short period of time. The minute the final final payment deadline passes, that cabin needs to become available for someone else to book.
