  1. If you know it will be super crowded and they allow that many people in it doesn't sound like fun. Do something else with $$ saved. Look on the cruise mapper to see how many ships will be there.
  2. So if you didn't see what ya saw, you would have chosen different? Is that what you are saying. Like going whale watching in Hawaii and not seeing any breaches....
  3. Tell the pool staff, they will keep an eye on the unoccupied lounger and move their stuff.
  4. Not sure why they say it that way, but to me it means 48 hours or 2 days before the excursion will start.
  5. We were on deck one. Just make sure you are back and not under any musical venue. There were shops above us and it was fine. Look at the deck two map. We liked being close to the Dutch Cafe to grab morning coffee. Also, it is nice looking out being just above the water.
  6. I am fairly sure my husband had self-serve ice cream on the Apex last April. It was at the Mast Grill near the pool.
  7. Celebrity isn't sailing 2025 to Antarctica. Equinox is sailing January 2026. We are on their January 17th cruise. I looked at HAL but didn't want that long of an itinerary. Antarctica is the main reason for us. If you like HAL, you will enjoy Celebrity. We were on the Rotterdam last year.
  8. When you book they will ask if you want fixed or anytime. If you chose fixed, it is then you put in your request for table size. The later you wait to book, the early and/or tables for 2 may be taken.
  9. I like the lemon tarts when they have them.
  10. If you are close to Dukes, they have the best crab cakes made with lots of Dungeness. The location near Lake Union is nice.
  11. I heard someone say, I would never cruise. It is a floating Petrie dish. Last cruise on HAL Rotterdam in Amsterdam we had to wait to embark. They needed to deep clean the ship due to some virus.
  12. Reminds me of the movie Easy Rider. Jack Nicholson wanted toast and they were not serving breakfast. He ordered a chicken salad sandwich and told the waitress to hold everything but the toasted bread. He told her to hold the chicken between her knees.....
  13. Isn't the Nieuw the same class as the Rotterdam? If so, we were in an Ocean View cabin. There is no night light.
  14. Can't wait to sail on her again. Last time was 2018 and looking forward to 2024. Almost booked the same cabin but wanted port this time. We always stay in an OV midship.
  15. I was on the Rotterdam in May and enjoyed your review. Your title was catchy. After a couple of paragraphs, I was waiting for the let-down. Sorry for the crummy weather and all of the little mishaps. My first cruise was to Western Caribbean middle of December 1983, and we had good weather.
  16. Go for HAL to see Glacier Bay. We have been to Alaska twice, once on HAL and the other on Celebrity. I am planning another cruise to include Denali. I will DIY for the land portion. If you are comfortable with planning, you can choose your lodgings, train schedule and/or rent a car. The road all the way into the park is still closed. They are saying maybe into 2026. Happy planning.
  17. If I recall, doesn't the ship travel through the Narrows heading northbound in the late evening? I remember not really seeing anything. I was so excited for it.
  18. We always go for the ocean view rooms. Less expensive and it is nice to look out the window when you are in the cabin. We don't spend much time in the cabin anyway.
  19. Our neighbors swear by Oceania. The husband is a foodie, and thinks their food is the best. Funny thing is, they have never sailed on another ship and don't plan to. I think of them being a level above Celebrity or HAL. We are happy with both HAL and Celebrity.
  20. Yikes. I would have asked my cabin steward to fix that. I always bring my own body wash.
  21. I was preparing to say I always wear them to go get coffee in the morning. Realized that you were talking about a swim suit. I am sure she looks great in her thong, or you would not be asking. Personally, my butt never looked smooth enough to wear one. Go for it.
  22. I researched this too. Ended up choosing Volendam 2024 Boston to Montreal. We like smaller ships. Plus, we were on her back in 2018. If you go to Montreal instead of starting/stopping at Qubec you will get to cruise on the Lawerence River. Saguenay is scenic heading up the fjord I have read. Bar Harbor is limiting ships, and many itineraries end up changing it. Portland is known for their Maine lobster, but it will be available in other ports too. Happy Planning mate.
  23. Oh no. We could not land earlier this year, in April when the airport closed. Luckly, they landed the flight in Palm Beach. We took the Brite Line train to Fort Lauderdale. Our hotel was turning people away due to wet carpets the next morning as we were waiting for the cruise shuttle. The restaurant canceled our reservation, and we ended up at Mc Donalds next door.
